Way back in September of last year we let you know adidas was suing Skechers for ripping off their classic Stan Smith design. More than 5 months later, a decision by the federal judge has finally been made.
For quite some time now, Skechers has been knowingly ripping off several different adidas models and calling them their own. They’ve managed to do this by mimicking the majority of the shoe and only slightly altering parts of it in an attempt to get away with it. Not anymore. Take for example the Skechers Onix you see above. When you put it side by side with the adidas Stan Smith, the resemblance in uncanny, colorway and all. For obvious reasons, an Oregon judge has ordered Skechers to stop selling the shoe since he couldn’t even tell them apart. Was this the right move? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
