Andrew Wiggins and adidas Unveil The Crazy Explosive With Boost And Primeknit

Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves have a lot to look forward to this upcoming season. A young core, a veteran coach, and a roster full of exciting players means that the Wolves could be ready to take a leap in the hyper-competitive Western Conference. They’re a team for the future, so the three stripes decided A.Wiggins needs a basketball model to match that promise.

Enter the adidas Crazy Explosive, the trefoil brand’s latest and greatest in the hoops world. The head-turning silhouette received a Chef Curry like beating on the internet when low res photos initially leaked because people weren’t ready for the high-arching high top. But now that we have a better look, the Primeknit and Boost offering is looking more and more like an advanced performer ready for the rigors of the fast paced game today.

Full-length Boost has become a standard feature on any adidas performance model today, one that we don’t take for granted given the explosive return of energy – hence the name – and a luxurious ride that absorbs impact. One of the more interesting aspects of this model is the lateral TPU roll cage that provides forefront stability to enhance quick cuts to the basket. The Primeknit upper adds a dynamic lightweight ride and ventilation as well.

The adidas Crazy Explosive will debut in a “Solar Red” colorway on August 1st for $150 USD. What do you think of the three stripes’ latest performance hoops model? Be sure to check out more detailed photos below and stay tuned for more updates regarding Andrew Wiggins’ rise right here on Sneaker News.

Pharrell Gave Out Unreleased adidas NMDs To Friends And Family

Pharrell’s first adidas NMD shoes are releasing tomorrow at a select number of stores, but before those hit the general public, it looks like Skateboard P blessed his friends and family with a special edition colorway of the adidas NMD. This burgundy upper pair features the same “cage” construction on the upper with reflective rope laces, but instead of “Human Race” on the upper, Japanese characters that, according to TheRealTBlake, translate to “friends and family”. Check out these on-foot shots from Upscale Vandal’s snapchat feed below and remember that tomorrow’s Pharrell x adidas NMD drop is only releasing at certain stores.

Event Recap: Welcome To adidas Basketball LVL3 (Video)

Rose. Harden. Lillard. Wiggins. They represent the present and the future of adidas Basketball. There’s no need to talk about the past because well, the recent past of adidas Basketball has not always been where it needs to be. Between the bad luck, injuries and lackluster designs, the brand within the brand has often times felt like a totally separate entity within adidas, especially when you compare it to Originals, Running and Football (both US and Soccer). But thanks to a little thing called Boost – not to mention the rise of Lillard and the signing of Harden – Basketball has been able to rebound with one solid release after another. And now for the first time in a long time, adidas Basketball is a great position: people are paying attention again.

To set the tone for the coming season and to get people up and talking about the three stripes for basketball in the summertime, adidas brought us out for their LVL3 which included the official reveals for the adidas D Rose 7, adidas Crazylight Boost 2016 and the adidas Crazy Explosive. Thankfully Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas had “good enough” WiFi as we were able to livestream each player’s presentation on Facebook Live. Check out the replays below which includes the questions I asked during our group interview sessions with adidas’ Big 4.

Derrick Rose (adidas D Rose 7)

adidas_DRose7_Hydration_AQ7215_1_S adidas_DRose7_B54133_1_S adidas_DRose7_B72720_1_S adidas_DRose7_Smoke Gray_B54134_1_S adidas_DRose7_Solar_Red_AQ7215_1_S

Derrick, you’ve been through a lot, with the injuries to just getting back to the level you were, was there ever a time you thought that you might not have a signature shoe anymore this season or the one after that?

Derrick Rose: No, I always had faith (in adidas) and we always kept the relationship. We kept in contact the whole process. Even when I first tore my ACL, we (went to) shooting a documentary The Return, so they were always around and always honest with me. And that’s all I want is to have a business relationship. I want them to be honest and tell me and if there’s something I don’t like with my brand, my apparel and my shoes, I’ll let them know that we have to fix it.

James Harden (adidas CrazyLight Boost 2016)

adidas_Crazylight_2016_Liberties_B49755_21 adidas_Crazylight_2016_Triple_White_ B42425_1 adidas_Crazylight_2016_Solar_Red_ B42389_43

So you have that logo on your shoe…

James Harden: What logo?

On the tongue of your shoe…

JH: Oh, that’s just my number…

Oh, so there’s something else on the way, huh?

JH: Yeah, soon… (laughs)

Hmmm...
Hmmm…

How does it feel to be a part of this adidas resurgence and do you feel like you play a big role in that?

It’s a collective unit. Those guys out there they have their own lane. Wig(gins) being from Toronto, Dame does what he wants to do, D Rose is kind of quiet and does his own way and we all have our own way, but we can also mesh and come together (when the time is right). That’s why we’re so different from any other brand, our personalities are so different and we never follow. You know, creators never follow (nice way to integrate the catchphrase, James) and we do our own thing.

Damian Lillard (mi adidas D Lillard 2)

You mentioned that you take what the kids, your campers to heart when you talk shoes. I’m curious though if you pay attention to what jokers like us (the bloggers) talk and think about the shoe, both positive and negative?

Damian Lillard: No, not really (laughs), I only really know (The Vertical’s Nick DePaula) and when he shows me stuff. I just see what he posts or it don’t really read to deep into it. If they like the shoe or don’t like it, that’s on them. I see more and more kids wearing the shoe and talking about specific things they like about it that I want them to like about it. That means that they’re talking about it. When the bloggers talk about the shoe, that’s enough. The fact that they’re talking about it, that means that something is going right and that it’s been brought to your attention.

Andrew Wiggins (adidas Crazy Explosive)

adidas_Crazy_Explosive_Team_2_S adidas_Crazy_Explosive_Team_1_H adidas_Crazy_Explosive_Wiggins_Red_Group_3 adidas_Crazy_Explosive_Solar_Red_AQ7218_11

You’ve been with adidas for quite some time now. You’ve worn adidas your entire pro career so far and you wore them in Kansas. What are your favorite adidas shoes to wear on and off the court?

Andrew Wiggins: Off the court, I love shell toes. Gotta says Yeezys too…

You have to say you like Yeezys?

AW: I have to… no, I’m just kidding (laughs). Everybody loves Yeezys. And I really do love these (the Crazy Explosive). These are so far my favorite pair to wear on the court from a comfort level.

adidas Hoops Introduces Derrick Roses D Rose 7 Boost

adidas-d-rose-7-boost-release-dates-01

Derrick Rose‘s Chicago chapter might have come to a close, but his story is far from finished. When healthy, D.Rose is one of the most unique players in the NBA today, as his acrobatic layups, laser-like vision, and playmaking ability are unparalleled. Still only 27 years young, the new Knicks point guard has a lot to offer Carmelo and company which is why we’re so excited to see what he has in store for us this upcoming season.

adidas continues to transform its basketball line through the use of Boost cushioning and a dedication to unique textiles like Primeknit and other synthetic fabrics for a look that can be as head-turning off the court as on it. Today we get an official look at the adidas D Rose 7 Boost, a pair inspired by the great Chicago Fire and Derrick’s ability to rise from the ashes. Aided by full-length Boost and a herringbone traction pattern on the outsole, the lightweight offering is made for quick cutting guards looking for added support in a basketball model. The new GeoFit molded collar increases stability and adds a lockdown, sock-like fit.

The adidas D Rose 7 Boost “Solar Red” will debut on August 11th for $160 followed by additional colorways throughout Fall 2016. Check out more detailed photos below and be sure to let us know what you think about Derrick Rose’s latest signature model by taking your thoughts to the comments section.

KoF Live: Unpacking the adidas Basketball LVL3 Bag With The Ultra Boost Uncaged White (Video)

Today adidas Basketball unveils what they are calling their LVL3 event, featuring the future of the brand with many of their biggest signature athletes and possibly a surprise or two as well. With adidas gaining so much ground when it comes to the battle for the hearts and minds of sneakerheads both hardcore and casual, everybody has been waiting to see if adidas Basketball can come through and deliver from both a performance and style standpoint. As great as adidas Originals and adidas Running and even adidas Football with their #Cleathead push has been, we’ve been waiting for Basketball to get on the same level and excite the audience in the same way. With such a fancy roll out in Las Vegas and the people really responding to the new adidas Crazylight Boost 2016, hopes are high.

To get us ready for the event, the three stripes has dropped off a bag for us to check out, which of course we unpacked live on Facebook so that our fans can experience it the same time we do. Needless to say, we were quite surprised to see that what was inside the included shoe box wasn’t the CrazyLight Boost, but rather the adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged Triple White.

First it was the Uncaged Ultra Boost with the Color Boost and now this? The three stripes is not playing around.

Check out Kicks On Fire on Facebook and Snapchat (snapKicksOnFire) for more coverage of the LVL 3 event live as it happens and if they have WiFi at the site.
