Author’s Take

I?m not that really into the silhouette in a low-cut profile aside from the recent varsity red and navy/gum colorways, but, I like this style even more in this finish. I also like how leather is applied on the upper.

What makes this pair unique is the word “BANNED” that has been added on the translucent red outsole just like we saw on the Air Jordan 31.

Were you able to get your hands on the Jordan Reveal that released as a part of the Quai 54 collection? If you weren’t then here’s in alternate option that has a pretty similar look.

This colorway of the Jordan Reveal takes on the Triple Black color scheme as the entire breathable mesh upper has been done in black as well as the heel, tongue, midsole, outsole, and laces. The only hit of colors lands on the insoles as they’ve been colored in Infrared.

You can pick up your pair now directly from nike.com and other Nike/Jordan Brand retailers for $115.

Author’s Take

Another decent all-black sneaker that you can rock on the daily this Summer (or Fall or Winter). If the branding was done in red r silver it would have given the shoe a nice pop.

KoF Live: The Air Jordan 1 Banned (2016) And The Air Jordan 31 (Video)

Meanwhile, over at Jordan Brand…

Las Vegas has been the place to be if you’re basketball junkie looking for to satisfy your hoops diet during the summer months. With Summer League, Team USA Basketball and a whole lot more NBA-related stuff going down this week, it’s the perfect the time for the brands to show off their wares and that includes the all-new Air Jordan 31 (or Air Jordan XXX1 if you want to follow their numbering conventions).

Revealed last night during a special event at the same time the adidas Basketball LVL3 showcase was going down, the concepts behind the Air Jordan 31 and why it bears so much similarities to the iconic Air Jordan 1 was also touched upon. Touted as reboot of the Air Jordan franchise, you can see the literal transition of the shoe and what worked in the 80s with the leather upper and slowly move into the present day and the Flyweave performance woven upper.

Theres Also a Banned Jordan Training Shoe

It looks like the “Banned” theme is going to be big for Jordan Brand this fall, as we now spot a third colorway bearing the concept to go along with the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 31. It’s the all-new Jordan Trainer 1 that gets the “Banned” colorway in black and red, referencing the original black and red Air Jordan 1 that was banned by the NBA due to team uniform rules in 1985. Just like the upcoming Air Jordan 31, the Trainer 1 features bold “BANNED” text underneath the translucent red outsole of the shoe, while the upper gets the added bonus of an elephant print jacquard textile. Check out the official images here, and expect the Jordan Trainer 1 to his retailers around the same time as the Air Jordan 31 on September 3rd.

Alongside the inaugural Banned colorway, the newly-introduced Air Jordan 31 will be offered in two other variations this season as a tribute to the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Particularly paying homage to the host nation, Brazil, the basketball silhouette is treated in the country’s traditional Rio colors with vibrant green and blue predominant across the flyweave and synthetic leather upper. Offset with a crisp white midsole unit and icy translucent outsole, a USA-themed iteration of the model is also introduced, as it’ll be worn by both Carmelo Anthony and Jimmy Butler throughout the Olympics (Aug. 5 – 21).

I’m not really against the shoe’s design. I’m a fan of the simple makeup but the large Jumpman bothers me a little bit. This is a nice commemorative colorway though.

Alongside the introduction of the new Air Jordan 31, JB also revealed the return of the classic Air Jordan 1 Banned colorway, which first debuted in 1985.

Renowned for violating the league’s uniform code with a $5,000 fine when worn on the court, the iconic basketball sneaker is essentially doused in the favorable black and red color scheme. Premium leather comprises its overall composition with the distinguishable and classic ?Nike Air? branding implemented on the tongue. While this pair mimics the 1985 counterpart, it does not incorporate the distinctive ?X? detailing on the heel which was seen on the 2011 iteration.

Rounded out with a crisp white midsole unit, red outsole and the iconic wings logo across its ankles, you can purchase the standout pair at select JB and Nike accounts on September 3 for $160.

The new Air Jordan 31 was unveiled yesterday, as it represents a balance of JB’s tradition of game-changing performance and transcendent style that exude an off-court sensibility.

Inspired by the iconic banned Air Jordan 1, a black and red colorway that debuted in 1985 which violated the league?s uniform policy, earning a stern letter from league officials and generating a $5,000 fine each time the shoes were worn on court — the shoe essentially represented that spirit that MJ brought to the basketball court by being so different.

In terms of its design, the new AJ 31 mimics the 1’s profile, although sporting a first-of-its-kind flyweave and leather upper. Iconic Jordan elements such as the original Wings logo and a subtle Swoosh which has not been seen on a Jordan shoe since the AJ 1, has been implemented alongside a Jumpman logo.

Additionally, the silhouette incorporates FlightSpeed technology with full-length Zoom Air that enhances court feel, responsiveness and lateral support, as it follows on a tradition of low-profile cushioning that provides a closer feeling to the flor.

Priced at $185, you can purchase the Air Jordan 31 Banned at select JB and Nike retailers starting on September 3.

Author’s Take

I’m not really crazy about it, but, I do like refined look. The only thing that bothers me is the large Jumpman branding. It should’ve been removed or just sized smaller.
