It finally happened; the prodigal son has returned. After a long absence from WWE television that saw him stake out his own place in the world, Shane McMahon made his long-awaited return to the wrestling ring to take what he claims is his rightful place as next in line in the family business. Despite sister Stephanie and brother-in-law Triple H and of course, Vince himself taking the company to new heights (or lows depending on how you view the product these days) in Shane’s time away, the “kid” doesn’t see it that way, citing the drop in TV ratings, stock prices and overall quality of the show as factors for his reemergence on the scene.

Yeah, it’s been too long since I heard “Here Comes The Money”. Thanks to a little behind-the-scenes dealings (aka retconning of past events), Shane was able to justify his sabbatical and had no problem pretty much demanding control of Monday RAW, the WWE’s flagship program. In what might be the smartest piece of writing the show has done in months, Vince turns Shane’s desire and ego into a potential blockbuster Wrestlemania main event, which as many people know is currently devoid of main event talent due to a laundry list of injuries. With no promotion or heads up, we now have a headliner match in Shane against the Undertaker inside Hell In A Cell. If ever there was a rabbit to pull out of the hat, this was it. Considering Shane was in enough shape to rock skinny jeans on Monday night, the plans for this were probably set in motion the moment guys like John Cena and Seth Rollins starting hitting the injured list.
Of course, this is a sneaker blog and we have to talk about Shane’s choice of footwear. To go along with those skinny jeans was a shiny pair of Air Jordan 1 Chicagos. And judging from the video up top, there is no Jumpman to be found so those are last year’s Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Chicago versions, which made me shed tears of sneaker sadness more than a few times last year. As many longtime fans of the WWE will no doubt remember, Shane used to rock OG Jordans all the time including a personal favorite of mine, the Air Jordan 3 True Blue.

Yeah, Jordan Brand and WWE need to team up for something special at Wrestlemania. If The Rock can break out the Under Armour for the big show, why can’t the Jumpman?
