Black & Gold Take Care Of The Air Jordan 4 Royalty

It’s hard to go wrong with the combination of black & gold, especially when it’s placed on such an iconic and popular silhouette like the Air Jordan 4.

Jordan Brand will do just that this weekend with the release of the Air Jordan 4 Royalty. Engulfed in a premium Black suede throughout the upper, this Jordan 4 is given a pop courtesy of the Metallic Gold accents on the waffle eyelets, and the branding on the tongue and heel. A leather heel tab and white sole unit down below wrap up the clean aesthetic on this pair of 4s that releases on February 4th for $190. Will you cop?

New Images Of The Air Jordan 6 All Star (Chameleon)

NBA All-Star Weekend is only a couple of weeks away which means one of the biggest sneaker release weeks of the year. While Nike Basketball won’t be releasing any “All Star” sneakers this year, Jordan Brand will be.

One of those All Star releases will be this brand new colorway of the Air Jordan 6. Looking at this shoe we see that it comes covered in an iridescent leather all throughout the upper that features color-changing qualities. Additional iridescent detailing can be seen on the aglets, with a black midsole and partially translucent outsole wrapping things up.

Expected to release on February 16th (Thursday) for $225, will you cop or drop?

Air Jordan 5 Take Flight To Retail For $400

Add another model to the ever-growing list of $400 Jordan retros to release at retail. The Air Jordan 5 “Take Flight” will release on February 11th, 2017 listed at the luxury price point given the militarized construction that takes cues from the P51 flight bomber jacket.

The Air Jordan 5 Take Flight is a part of a larger “Take Flight” Collection that saw the Air Jordan 8 “Sequoia” release earlier in the year alongside the original Air Jordan 15 retro. This is no normal Air Jordan 5 though, as the premium construction features a leather wrapped midsole for the first time ever, a new laser perforated ventilation unit on the side panel that does away with the original mesh insert, and a crazy oversized ‘Flight’ lace lock comprised of a similar leather.

The military inspiration is also accomplished through the overall colorway, as that familiar Sequoia green shade hits the entirety of the upper to contrast Jordan Brand’s signature Vachetta Tan lifestyle accent on the tongue. There’s no 3M reflective material to be found on the pair, and the midsole shark teeth, already inspired by a fighter plane, are hidden through that luxurious leather wrap. So do you plan on paying a Pinnacle-esque price of $400 USD for this pair?

The Air Jordan 1 Pure White Is Really Pristine

The Air Jordan 1 Pure White will be arriving at a few retailers sooner than its suggested Spring debut, as new close-up imagery of the silhouette are featured.

As suggested, the classic basketball sneaker flaunts a whiteout aesthetic. Comprised of premium tumbled leather, another focal point is directed at the heel, ankle section, toe box and swooshes across its side panels, which bears miniature perforations for a subtle yet, more distinctive look. Further detailed with the signature wings logo on its collar area, the silhouette is topped off with a black outsole.

Retailing for $160, you can find this stylish pair at select JB and Nike retailers starting Saturday, February 4th.

The Jordan Trunner Is Revived In BHM Colors

Introduced back in 2000, the classic Jordan Trunner silhouette has been revived this year in a special BHM variation to essentially celebrate Black History Month.

A design that mimics the Air Jordan 15 with its woven construction, the model is further reinforced with neoprene paneling, a dual strap located across its mid-foot and ankle section and a two-tone sole unit that reflects the respective theme. Gold accents throughout, co-branding and glittering on the outsole rounds out the overall details.

You can purchase this standout slip-on pair at select JB and Nike retailers starting February 16th for $140.

A Closer Look At The Jordan Trunner LX

Perhaps the biggest news of Jordan Brand’s 2017 Black History Month Collection wasn’t the removable patches on the Air Jordan 1 or the hypnotizing metallic gold patent leather on the grade school exclusive option. Instead, it might’ve been the return of an oft-forgotten early 2000s retro training model in the Jordan Trunner LX.

For those of you who don’t remember, the Jordan Trunner LX ushered in the training regime for the Jumpman in the year 2000. Its construction mirrored the Air Jordan 15’s unique woven construction on the forefoot while a bevy of neoprene panels created a laceless slip-on fit while a dual strap handled the lockdown duties. It’s a bit of an oddity that this retro would return in 2017, but there’s definitely a cult-following associated with the silhouette. If you’re one of the fans that plans on picking the pair up, then rejoice, as more colorways are likely headed to retail shelves after the BHM colorway drops on February 11th.

In the meantime, check out more detailed shots of the Jordan Trunner LX BHM below and stay tuned for more Jordan Release Date updates right here on Sneaker News.

Why Russell Westbrook Doesnt Play In The Air Jordan 31

The New York Times Magazine recently profiled Russell Westbrook and the specifics of some of his stranger routines. See, Russ is a precise individual with a grueling work ethic and doesn’t have time to deviate from his time-honored traditions and patterns that helped him get to his MVP-form. That thought process goes right down to his footwear, too, as writer Sam Anderson detailed the rampant perfectionism through a story about how Westbrook no longer wears the Air Jordan 31. As some of you may have noticed, Russell Westbrook has been wearing a hybrid model known as the Air Jordan 30.5 (even though it won’t release at retailers anytime soon) that features the woven construction of the XXX1, but with the sole of the XXX. Here’s why according to Oklahoma City Thunder equipment manager Wilson Taylor:

Westbrook is unbelievably attuned to the tiniest details of his shoes. He has his own personal rack at the practice facility. ?Most guys, I can just bring a pair of shoes,? the Thunder?s equipment manager, Wilson Taylor, told me. ?Russell wants a certain pair. He knows which are for games, which are for practice. He determines which shoes are coming on a road trip.? When Nike sent Westbrook its latest model, the Jordan 31, he wasn?t happy with the sole flexibility, so he asked the company to build him a special hybrid using the previous model?s sole. Even in that custom shoe, however, the insoles aren?t thick enough for Westbrook, so Taylor replaces each of them by hand.

So there you have it. Russell Westbrook is not normal. You can tell by his insane athletic ability, his pre-game dance routines, his sartorial taste in regards to off-court wardrobe, and now you have proof in the form of a nice little excerpt about how truly specific he is in regards to his Jumpman footwear.
