Michael Jordan pioneered the All-Star sneaker movement, debuting his new Air Jordans at the mid-February classic as far back as 1988 (with the Black/Cement 3s). It’s no surprise that Jordan Brand athletes have continued their dominant presences at the event, with Russell Westbrook himself winning two All-Star Game MVP trophies during the star-studded affair.
New Orleans has some sentimental value to Jordan; it’s where he hit a game-winning shot for North Carolina at the 1982 National Championship game at the Superdome. While the 2017 All-Star Game festivities will be held elsewhere, the winning spirit of MJ lives on through a selection of footwear with iridescent materials. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, Air Jordan 6 Retro, and Air Jordan 31 will release throughout the week (full details are below), while special events such as the Jordan Brand Invitational and the All-Star Game itself will showcase the footwear in hoops action.
