A New Colorway Of The adidas NMD XR1 With Some NMD R2 Inspiration

Wait, what do we have here? Is this an adidas NMD XR1 or an adidas NMD R2? This new sneaker from the three stripes has the overall shape and look of the XR1 but the design and pattern on the upper that we see on the new NMD R2. So which one is it?

This is actually an NMD XR1 that just features the same pattern/print that was recently seen on the NMD R2. The upper comes in a black Primeknit with what looks to be contrasting olive detailing all throughout the upper. Additional black detailing has then been added on the side panel cage, laces, leather heel tab, and on the blacked out Boost midsole with matching EVA plugs.

What are your thoughts on this new colorway of the adidas NMD XR1? Stay tuned to Kicks On Fire for release updates.

adidas-nmd-xr1-r1-patterns

The adidas NMD continues its successful run as one of the hottest sneakers on the market right now, and with the comfort of Boost, Primeknit, and a number of different constructions and silhouette mockups, there shouldn’t be any guessing as to why the three stripes’ lifestyle/running crossover has grown in popularity by the month.

Today we get a look a the latest adidas NMD XR1 “Triple Black” colorway, as the woven upper features a pattern that debuted on the recently released adidas NMD R2 sequel. While the call to action here might be the matte black look and the colorized black Boost midsole, you’ll notice contrast stitching throughout the woven upper to offset the protective cage overlay and small accents of red on the heel tab.

What do you think of the adidas NMD XR1 Triple Black colorway? Stay tuned for more preview shots and head over to our always-updated Release Dates page for a better look at the latest and greatest from adidas.

#KoFBestOf2016: Ranking The adidas Yeezy Ls We Took This Year

I almost failed on every single Yeezy release this year and it’s a little disappointing. This is not some sort of pity play on my part because nearly everybody I know that wasn’t connected to a retailer or adidas directly suffered a similar fate. Rather, the disappointment is a feeling of missed opportunity that nobody took advantage of. Instead of finally giving in to the multitude of times Kanye promised that there would be Yeezys for everybody, instead we got a multitude of Sadderdays as the year went along. From so-called increases in production numbers to raffles protecting customers to apps that determined a person’s worthiness to cop a pair by geography, there were plenty of ways to score Yeezys, but often times we came up short. So instead of your typical ranking of the sneakers in the form of a Top 10 list, here’s a totally unscientific examination of just how bummed out we were with each drop and subsequent L with adidas Yeezys this year as #KoFBestOf2016 continues.

adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Pirate Black

Level Of Disappointment: “Facts”

The adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Pirate Black dropped in 2015 to much praise and made a return earlier this year got plenty of people hyped – some even erroneously consider it superior to the iconic Turtle Dove colorway – but it left others bummed that it wasn’t an altered shoe or a new colorway altogether.

“Facts” was released in 2015 – December 31st to be exact – to much adoration from the Kanye fans. But after multiple listens and a remix that appeared on the actual The Life Of Pablo album in the following months, it didn’t stand up to scrutiny, especially compared to other opening salvos in Kanye’s history.

The lesson? Don’t break out leftovers or half-baked ideas and expect people to keep coming back. The fans will be chipped away each time. See Jordan retros as proof…

Level Of Disappointment: Anytime Kanye Is On Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Snarky tweets about vapid celebrity culture aside, Kanye and Kim have a family just like all of us do and they choose to show it for the world to see. Like the Yeezy 750s, I’m not a fan of any of it, so whenever a new one comes out, I treat it with the same amount of f**ks given as a non-life threatening development on their reality show. Basically, ¯\_(?)_/¯

Level Of Disappointment: Kanye With Blonde Hair

At least it glows? But really, when I saw Kanye had bleached his hair I immediately thought of the guy below. Shocking but still ¯\_(?)_/¯

Level Of Disappointment: Kanye Cancelling His Saint Pablo Tour

It’s a level of disappointment that you can’t be too upset about because the man is clearly going through some issues, but it’s still disappointing nonetheless if you’re a fan that’s been waiting months for the literal Kanye platform to come to your city, most pit and all. The silver lining is that Kanye will more than likely “get it together” and continue touring in the future.

I wanted to cop a pair of the Black/White 350 V2 but I wasn’t too bummed out about it because I knew that out of all the V2s that have dropped so far, this was the one that will most likely get a restock a la the Pirate Black down the line. Hopefully the white stripe is a little more white the next time around though…

Level Of Disappointment: Kanye Tour Merch/Yeezy Apparel

Dropping three colorways of the Yeezy 350 V2 in one day might sound like a great idea at first, but to me it felt like it was cheapening the silhouette and the brand to a certain extent, especially when the differences were so minute and the production numbers were still limited. It’s a lot like when you get hyped for the latest Kanye tour merchandise or Yeezy Season but then you see that the prices are way out of proportion to the quality (word to Gildan) or the design is a little too drab to be wearable outside of a concert. I might be crazy here, but I miss the old Kanye tour merch with the Graduation Bear that you could actually wear after the show and not look too much like a stan.

adidas Yeezy 350 Cleat

adidas

Level Of Disappointment: Kanye Trying To Mess Up Kylie Jenner’s PUMA Deal

I don’t play football, but I wanted a pair of those Yeezy cleats for posterity. It was a game-changing moment that should have opened the doors for the NFL to be a little more open-minded like the NBA is with their kicks, but as soon DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown in his 350s, the No Fun League decided to live up to their name. I guess unless your name is Dak Prescott and your 750s kind of sort of match your Cowboys uniform, Yeezys are off limits. Why can’t we let people be great?

Earlier this year, Kanye got involved in some NFL level of pettiness when he expressed his displeasure with Kylie Jenner signing an endorsement deal with PUMA. Unlike the NFL, it comes from a fair place, as Kanye seemed to position Kylie as a prominent part of his Yeezy deal with adidas. But did we have to know about it and was it really necessary to have that aired out on Twitter for the world to read about? Shouldn’t this have stayed a conversation between family? Not all “Family Business” needs to be out there…

adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Beluga

Level Of Disappointment: “Fixing” The Life Of Pablo

I don’t think I’ll be listening to The Life Of Pablo all that much in 2017. Honestly, I haven’t heard much of TLOP after it first came out. It was an album that happened – a moment in time if you will (Dusty Rhodes voice) – and that should have been the end of it. Instead, we get Kanye coming out saying that he’s going to fix certain tracks of the album, creating what is essentially an “Early Access” version of TLOP not unlike when you pay for unfinished PC games on platforms like Steam. I’m a proponent of artists having the right to go back to previous works and “fixing” them, but only if they were finished products in the first place and we still have access to the “broken” version. So when Kanye finished up “Wolves” or added new stuff to “Ultralight Beam”, I want to be able to listen to all versions of the track.

I love everything about the Beluga colorway of the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 except for one glaring sore spot: the “SPLY-350” wording on the Solar Red stripe. Without the branding, the shoe is almost perfect. With it, it’s a pair I want to wear all the time but can’t because the damn thing is so annoying. I would love to own a “fixed” or sample version that didn’t have the wording on there, but I also wouldn’t want adidas to come at me and say “please return your Belugas and we’ll send you the new version” either. The shoe happened, we aired our grievances what we like and don’t like about it. They fix it, it’s fine. If not, we’ll live too.

adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Infant Pirate Black/Turtle Dove

adidas

Level Of Disappointment: The Trump Meeting

This was the worst L of them all. I wanted these baby Yeezys for my godson badly that I made multiple attempts to score a pair but to no avail. Maybe it was for the best because after seeing ‘Ye walk out of Trump Tower with the PEOTUS, I wouldn’t want my kid to be associated with that stuff, even tangentially and especially since he is just a kid with zero awareness yet.
