Whether you want something loud or something a little more lowkey, the upcoming Trapstar x PUMA Cell Bubble collaboration has something for you. The latest in a slate of footwear designed by the London-based brand, Trapstar has become the go-to for a lot of today’s celebrities, including Beyonce, The Weeknd, Jay Z, Cara Delevigne and of course, PUMA Global Ambassador Rihanna. The “White Noise” pair features their signature print all across the upper while the black suede colorway takes a more sedated approach. Both retro-styled sneakers feature plenty of Trapstar iconography so nobody’s missing who you’re wearing. We need white, red and black sneakers like we need a punch to the face (word to friend of program RAC for that infamous line), but Trapstar succeeds in giving the familiar colors a new look.
It’s a far cry from their early days when Trapstar founders Mikey, Lee and Will Trapstar used to just make custom shirts and were getting zero love from UK stores. Their grimy aesthetic has captured the imagination of not only the UK but the entire world as well through their sheer grit and hustle. No offense to Young Jeezy, but there are young kids now who probably think his classic song “Trap Star” is inspired by the brand. Yes, that song is over a decade old now and there’s an entire generation out there who might not have a clue about “Trap Star” the song but rep hard for Trapstar the brand.
