Release Date: PUMA x XO Homage to the Archive Collection

It’s about that time again. The Weeknd and Puma have linked up once more to release another collection. Dubbed the PUMA x XO Homage to the Archive Collection, this time around the brand?s creative collaborator and ambassador reimagines 90?s streetstyle with a modern twist.

The PUMA x XO collection first made waves in 2017 when the highly anticipated launch drop was sold out in stores worldwide. Known for his military-inspired styling, The Weeknd has broken the monotony of streetstyle with looks that personify his take on everyday essentials.

Paying tribute to a decade that celebrated chunky and bold looks, The Weeknd continues to lend his personal sense of style to PUMA’s archive collection from the 90’s. Inspired by the golden era of street culture, the latest collab comes to life in retro silhouettes with bold color blocking and modern aesthetics. Sporting multiple rendition of the PUMA x XO logo, the latest drop is a befitting throwback to a decade that discovered and popularized bold treatments of graphics and logos.

With two covetable drops this season, the initial drop features the PUMA x XO Terrains, the first-ever low top sneakers designed by The Weeknd. A fresh take on vintage low-court style, the kicks sport exaggerated rugged teeth in the midfoot area. The upper features a combination of rich tumbled leather and suede overlays.

Completing the look is a range of apparel and accessories apt for the changing season. Fan favorite PUMA x XO Badge and Triangle graphics continue to feature across the collection from bomber jackets to track pants, tees, crews, beanie and even a backpack.

Puma Basketball Hints At Kawhi Leonard Being Their Next Big Signing

What is I told you that Puma Basketball’s next potential signing could be the biggest one yet. For a few days now, Puma Basketball has been hinting at signing NBA Superstar Kawhi Leonard. Their latest tweet (shown above) makes it seem like the deal could end up happening much sooner than later.

For those of you who may not know, Kawhi has been with Jordan Brand since 2014. During his tenure with Jordan Brand, Kawhi has gotten exclusive colorways of the Jordan 29, 30, 31, 32 and a special iteration of the Air Jordan 1 High. That being said, Kawhi felt it was time to part ways with the Jumpman as he recently declined a contract extension from Jordan Brand said to be more than $20 million (4 years).

With his current Jordan Brand deal coming to an end, Kawhi Leonard could sign with another sneaker brand or he can choose not sign with anyone and wear whatever he likes on the court. It looks like he may very well opt for the former. If Puma does end up putting a deal on the table, Jordan Brand is able to match the deal since they do have a match clause, which would give them 10 days to decided whether or not to retain Leonard as part of their roster.

This story is expected to develop very soon. As soon as more info is provided, we will be sure let you know.

Pumas New Social Change Platform #Reform Encourages Universal Equality And Criminal Justice Reform

Puma just launched their new social change platform #Reform. This new platform gives activists from the worlds of sports, music and entertainment support in championing causes and encouraging conversations around issues such as universal equality and criminal justice reform.

#REFORM is directly inspired by Olympian Tommie Smith, and his ?Silent Gesture? that sparked global debate around the issues of civil rights and universal equality at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.

PUMA?s belief is that to achieve faster progress, a team is essential. Therefore, PUMA has created Team#REFORM. This is a collective of individuals who believe that progress toward universal equality needs to be achieved faster. To lead Team#REFORM, PUMA has selected Captains, including rapper Meek Mill (who will focus on criminal justice reform), and WNBA All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith (gender equality), alongside Captain Emeritus, Tommie Smith (universal equality). The brand will also be partnering with entertainment company Roc Nation to spread the message of #REFORM through live and social engagement. Future #REFORM Captains will be named in the coming months.

PUMA?s goal is to go beyond inspiration and turn intentions into actions. #REFORM Captains will work with the brand to identify beneficiaries of #REFORM tactics, including product creation, recognition grants, and #REFORM Summits, where like-minded individuals will gather to promote an agenda for change.

In recognition of Tommie Smith?s lifetime of bravery, PUMA presented him with the first #REFORM AWARD last night at the Tommie Smith Youth Initiative Gala. The award will be accompanied by a donation to the Tommie Smith Youth Initiative Foundation. This event will mark the kick off of PUMA?s #REFORM campaign.

On October 16th, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Silent Gesture at the 1968 Olympics, Team#REFORM Captains will call on PUMA brand ambassadors and all likeminded individuals to join Team#REFORM and celebrate Tommie?s achievements with the #THIRDSALUTE. The #THIRDSALUTE is a social media movement in which individuals challenge others to post an image of themselves with a raised fist, and make a donation to charities pursuing universal equality, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), an organization which has worked for more than 100 years to defend and promote the liberties enshrined in the United States Constitution. All donations from the #THIRDSALUTE will be matched by PUMA, up to $100,000 through December 31, 2018.

On the 16th, PUMA will also launch the ?Power Through Peace? Collection, commemorating Tommie?s Silent Gesture, and featuring graphics designed by Lance Wyman, creator of the logo of the ?68 Olympics. All profits from the sales of this collection will be donated to charities pursuing universal equality.

Throughout 2018/19 and beyond, PUMA will be working with #Reform Captains to launch other programs that will promote actions to further the goal of universal equality.
