Official Images Of The adidas NMD Geometric Pack

There’s another adidas NMD pack on the way and this one is centered around the geometric theme. Consisting of two tonal offerings, today we take a look at the official images of the adidas NMD Geometric Pack.

The Geometric Pack is made out out one red pair and one black pair made out of a mesh construction. Although there is only one color hue that makes up the upper, the tonal angled patterns throughout the upper give the shoe its geometric trait. The tonal motifs on the uppers are then placed on top of the white Boost sole accompanied by the black and cream detailing found on the “blocks”. Said to be releasing sometime in the Spring, let us know if you like what you see.

Author’s Take

I like the idea behind the shoe, I just wish the contrast was greater on the geometric patterns. If there was a wider gap on the color of the hues, I think the shoe would look a lot better.

The Classic adidas Superstar In Animal Form

You’ve seen Superstars aplenty over the last year or so, but few as exotic as this. The iconic adidas sneaker takes a walk on the wild side with a textured leather upper somewhere in between elephant and reptile. Looking like just another white and black Superstar at first glance, the shoe’s wild side comes out as you inspect more closely, and see the subtle textures across the white leather with a contrasting texture on the black stripes and heel tab. The Superstar Animal is prowling into select adidas Originals retailers around the world right now.

adidas Brings Back adiColor On The Stan Smith

Remember Pharrell’s “Super Color” Collection that brought us 50 monochromatic colorways of the ever-classic adidas Superstar? It looks like the three stripes was so fond of that collaboration that the brand is bringing a similar aesthetic to the adidas Stan Smith. That’s right, the tennis classic is returning this Spring 2016 season in a number of simple yet vibrant colorways belonging to the adiColor category featuring candy-coated uppers dipped in the likes of seafoam green, royal blue, or a pastel tangerine. The uppers even alternate from a smooth matte base to micro-perforations depending on the shade. We’re still holding out to see if more color options will be available, but for know you can check out the latest trio at select retailers like Kentucky’s own Oneness.

Raf Simons adidas Stan Smith Comes Strapped In Three Colorways

Belgium designer Raf Simons launched his first ever menswear campaign in 1995. Now two decades later, he’s expanded his reach to the likes of Christian Dior and beyond with an unparalleled attention to detail and inspired visions that only he could come up with. So what did he have planned for the adidas Stan Smith? Simons overhauled the normal lacing system with three overlaying skinny straps to mimic the three stripe branding usually absent from the Stan Smith silhouette for a playful twist. These three colorways are available right now at select shops like Hanon, so check out a detailed look below and we’ll keep you updated on stateside availability in the days and weeks to come.

The adidas NMD is working overtime in the month of March as we’ll be seeing may different versions of the lightweight runner from adidas release for men and women.

One of the colorways of the NMD that will be releasing this month is the pair that you see above which features a black mesh upper instead of the traditional Primeknit pairs that we’ve seen on past releases. In addition to the black mesh upper we can also see white detailing on the heel tab and BOOST midsole. Wrapping things up are black and blue EVA inserts on the midsole.

Look for the this Black Mesh colorway of the adidas NMD at select adidas Originals retailers beginning on March 17th for $120.

Author’s Take

There’s good and bad things about adidas creating a mesh version of the adidas NMD. One one side it won’t be as comfortable as the Primeknit versions and on the other you’re paying $50 less. It’s really up to us (the consumers) in deciding which pair we want to pick up.

In addition to the Black Suede colorway of the adidas NMD Chukka that will be releasing on March 17th, we have just found out that there will also be a red colorway hitting retailers as well.

Just like the black pair, this Chukka boot version of the new adidas NMD will come dressed in a full suede upper but this time in a bold and vibrant red hue. A White BOOST midsole and red EVA inserts finish off the look on this upcoming colorway of the NMD Chukka.

Look for the adidas NMD Chukka Red Suede at select adidas Originals retailers as well as adidas.com on March 17th.

Author?s Take

Because of the chukka look and suede upper this sort of looks like a whole new silhouette. It?ll still be comfortable thanks to the BOOST midsole but I?m not sure it?ll sell out because it?s a bit harder to wear than the low-top pairs.

The Life: A Look Into The adidas Future Capsule Exhibit In Los Angeles

adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas adidas Future Capsule Art 6 adidas Future Capsule Art 1 adidas Future Capsule Art 3 adidas Future Capsule Art 8 adidas Future Capsule Art 5 adidas Future Capsule Art 7

If you’re anywhere in the Los Angeles area – preferably close to Fairfax and Beverly – you’ll want to check out the adidas Future Capsule, an art installation featuring a vision of the future through the eyes of 10 artists. Open now until March 13th at the Seventh Letter, it’s an engrossing look that speaks not only to the creativity of the artists, but to adidas as well.

For a brand that automatically screams “retro” the moment you hear it, adidas Originals sure has been forward thinking for the past few years. Whether you want to talk about Kanye West or Pharrell or the myriad of silhouettes like the ZX Flux or the NMD or the Tubular – which was the focus of this exhibit – that are constantly on the tip of sneakerheads’ tongues these days, the three stripes future is pretty bright. And quite honestly, it’s a very welcome future as somebody who has been writing about sneakers for the past several years and will often hit the wall talking about the same 13 shoes all the time. Like the variety of Tubular models on display, I’m all about variety.

In a neat touch, you’ll have a chance to be a part of this Future Capsule as well because you can pick up one of those “my future is _____” boards and write where you see yourself 10 to 20 years down the line. These boards will actually be placed in an actual Future Capsule to be closed for future generations to see. What would you say your future will be like?

The adidas Future Capsule will be on display at the Seventh Letter in Los Angeles until Sunday, March 13th.

A Preview Of Upcoming adidas NMD Chukka And City Sock Releases

The rise of Boost technology was a major part of adidas Originals‘ dominant 2015, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the comfortable cushioning system is going to continue to transform the lifestyle brand this year. The adidas NMD series is as focused on the future as it is the past, with inspirations from the Boston Super, Rising Star, and Micropacer all coinciding atop a knit-based upper that’s simple and complex all at the same time. The upcoming adidas NMD Chukka and adidas NMD City Sock improve on that concept with lifestyle driven mid-top constructions perfect for the upcoming Spring 2016 season. Today we get a look at a number of future releases as the adidas NMD Chukka returns in two bolstered suede constructions and a traditional woven upper for your liking. The somewhat traditional Boost-laden base remains intact for a familiar ride. Then there’s the adidas NMD City Sock, a Primeknit slip-on offering that’s too bold to go unnoticed. Interwoven patterns of white and black stripes create a jarring aesthetic while a never-before-seen all black should hold down the street goth in everyone. What do you think of Spring’s rise of the NMD? Check out more detailed photos below and we’ll keep you updated on release dates for each of these pairs right here on Sneaker News.

Buy, Pass, Wait: Air Jordan 5 Low Fire Red, Solebox x adidas Ultra Boost, J. Crew x New Balance 997 Butterscotch

Welcome back to another installment of Buy, Pass, Wait, the only place you’ll find the KicksOnFire staff giving their thoughts on the most noteworthy sneaker releases of the week. Sure, you can find out what’s dropping on our handy KicksOnFire app (download it if you haven’t), but we appreciate you taking the time to read up on the kicks that we report on so you know how we really feel. Call it therapy when we have to write about retros over the eleventeenth time that we can say what’s on our minds.

Air Jordan 5 Low Fire Red

Nike
Nike

Juan Martinez, Editor-In-Chief: (PASS) So I have this habit of typing “Fire Red” as “Fired” first before correcting myself. Maybe it’s a Freudian slip about how I really feel about the Fire Red Jordan retros. I just wish they would all go away. Yes, including the Fire Red 3s and I love the 3s!

Juan Carrillo, News: (PASS) Not a fan of the Air Jordan 5 Low colorways that have been dropping. This one I can tolerate but since I’ve been much more selective this year when it comes to what Jordans I pick up, this will also be a pass. The Laney 5 is my favorite colorway on the mid-top, I think that would be the only colorway I would pick up on the low-top if Jordan Brand ever decides to release that color.

Andres Carrillo, News: (PASS) Jordan Brand should have never created a low-top version of the Air Jordan 5. It doesn’t matter what colorway is placed on the shoe I just think that it looks like someone did a bad job of customizing a mid-top pair.

Renz Ofiaza, News: (WAIT) The original form should release instead. I’m not a fan of the silhouette in a low-cut profile, but this colorway is pretty desirable though.

Solebox x adidas Ultra Boost

Solebox
Solebox

EIC Juan: (BUY) The whole caged vs. uncaged debate for Ultra Boosts has become a little silly at this point. What matters is that stuff like the Solebox collab looks fantastic on its own merit. We shouldn’t be worrying what it would have looked like with a cage. Dammit, now I’m thinking what it would have looked like with a cage. I think I did this to myself.

News Juan: (PASS) I actually like the caging system on the original Ultra Boost. That’s one of the features that helps make the shoe stand out. Removing it from the shoe makes it less appealing in my eyes.

Andres: (BUY) Cage or no cage this is one of the best Ultra Boost colorways so far. I think the removal of the cage gives it a sleeker look which is definitely a good thing. Also great job by Solebox to add the red detailing on the outsole and aglets.

Renz: (BUY) I’m for clean and minimal silhouettes so I’m just biased overall. The build is solid and the colorway is pretty versatile as well. One of the best iterations of the Uncaged model this year.

adidas Crazylight Boost 2.5 James Harden Cargo PE

adidas
adidas

EIC Juan: (PASS) It looks like something someone would wear with camo pants. I don’t do camo pants. Sorry, Beard.

News Juan: (PASS) Not really feeling the suede construction on the shoe. Hard to see it for what it is, a basketball shoe. A little bit of contrasting hits would probably help a bit, but then again…

Andres: (PASS) The adidas Crazylight Boost 2.5 is a basketball sneaker and adidas is trying to make it a lifestyle release with this James Harden PE. Not a good idea. Let’s leave the lifestyle look to Kanye and sneakers from the adidas Originals line.

Renz: (WAIT) I like the clean profile of the model and the material makeup looks nice. I’ve never paid attention to this sneaker. But in this colorway, it looks great.

J. Crew x New Balance 997 Butterscotch

EIC Juan: (WAIT) These will probably sell out if I wait more than a few hours because nothing says “hot sneakers” more than J. Crew collabs and the hype video above was well-executed in pointing out everything awesome about the shoe. I just don’t know if I can do a brown shoe that isn’t for formal wear.

News Juan: (BUY) I love the shoe. It’s been a minute since I’ve bought a pair of New Balance sneakers, and this one has just the look I was looking for. Very versatile and luxe looking. The colorway is amazing. I’m not going to lie, the price may be steep ($210), but if you stay buying Jordans for $190, you should have no problem dishing out $20 more for quality sneakers, right?

Andres: (WAIT) The colorways and materials used on this J. Crew x New Balance 997 are BUTTER! The beautiful tones of brown used on the shoe along with the premium suede, leather and nubuck give such an elegant look to this 997. The only reason I say “wait” is because I wouldn’t be willing to pay that $210 retail price.

Renz: (BUY) I’m always down for J. Crew x New Balance collaborations and they didn’t disappoint again. I’m just biased. The colorway and build is solid as always.

Nike Kobe 11 4KB

Nike
Nike

EIC Juan: (PASS) Hey Nike, a triple white Nike Kobe 11 would blow up the Sneaker Internet, just saying. As for the 4KB, it just looks like What The Kobe 9 in low-cut and I don’t mean that as a compliment, especially since they’re priced very similarly.

News Juan: (PASS) The white Flyknit upper is what keeps me ways from getting a pair. Too much maintenance is needed to keep the shoe in good looking condition. Great looking shoe though, just can’t wear it.

Andres: (PASS) This Kobe 11 looks A LOT like the “What The” colorway of the Kobe 9 that sat on shelves for a while and many people even converted into a low-top with some custom work. There should have been more multicolor detailing on this pair. Also, what’s up with that $220 price tag?

Renz: (BUY) In general, I’m a fan of white flyknit sneakers. The multicolor detail has been well placed and I like how it doesn’t overpower the overall appearance.

Should Jordan Brand Continue Making Low-Cut Retros Even Though No One Seems To Care?

Nike
Nike

EIC Juan: The only low-top Jordans I acknowledge are the 11s and the XX9. And as much as I love them (I’m scooping all of the XX9 Lows as soon as the price drops), I can sacrifice them if Jordan Brand will stop with the low-tops until they actually start designing new Jordans with both mid and lows in mind. Earlier Js in low-cut just look like someone just got a hatchet and tried to lob the top of as much as possible. That being said, I understand the business reasons for them (they can re-release OG colorways without having to bring back the actual classics too soon) so they’re not going to stop, but maybe a little more discretion would be nice.

News Juan: I think they should be more selective as to what low-cut retros they decide to make. For example, the Air Jordan 11 looks pretty good in low-top form. The Air Jordan 9 looks okay as well. The Laney 14 Lows were cool too. I guess it all depends on the shoe you’re making a low-cut out of. Being that I love the Air Jordan 3, I’m curious to see what a low-top version of the shoe would look like. Be careful what you wish for, right?

Andres: Jordan Brand needs to STOP with all these low-tops. The Air Jordan 2, Air Jordan 5 and Air Jordan 9 will all be releasing in low-top versions this year and I’m sure no one would argue against scrapping every single pair that releases and replacing them with the original mid/high. I get you’re trying to switch things up a bit Jordan Brand, but this just isn’t a good look.

Renz: The only low-top I’m pretty inclined to are the 11s. With JB continuing to expand its market or reach to other audiences, it only seems logical that the brand produces low-top variations of retros. Personally, I don’t like it much, especially if they’re OG colorways, but I guess with the company, it’s all about the Benjamins.

adidas NMD Chukka Red Suede

On March 17th, adidas Originals will unleash the adidas NMD Chukka to the world – a lifestyle-driven silhouette featuring full-length Boost cushioning and a desert boot-like upper design. In addition to the black suede pair that was unveiled a few days ago, a red suede version, seen here for the first time, will join that colorway as part of the official retail debut. There’s a chance that more colorways could be in the works, but for now, keep an eye out for this catchy tonal-red version on March 17th.
