KicksonFire attended the adidas x Parley ?Run for the Oceans? 5K run and celebration that took place Friday night at Temescal Gateway Park in Los Angeles and brought together runners, ocean ambassadors, environmentalists, pro athletes, celebrities and influencers to inspire collective action and affect positive change for the oceans.
Said to be the first of 12 major running events across six major cities globally, adidas will contribute $1 to the Parley Ocean Plastic program (up to $1 million) for every kilometer logged by participants in the Runtastic app at Friday night?s event, and through July 8th.
To join the effort, runners can download Runtastic and join the ?Run for the Oceans? group and log their own miles at home.
Notable names that took part in the event include Jhene Aiko (singer), Josh Rosen (Arizona Cardinals First Round Draft Pick), LA Sparks athletes Chelsea Gray and Nneka Ogwumike and Scott Eastwood (actor), just to name a few.
Capping off the night, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals rocked the house for the thousands in attendance. Additional special guests included adidas Global Ambassador, creator of Love Squad, fitness instructor and Brooklyn Nets host Ally Love, plus LA native DJ SOSUPERSAM.
Inspired by the fragility of the oceans, adidas Running also launched limited-release UltraBOOST Parley and UltraBOOST X shoes (shown above), fusing performance-oriented footwear technology with progressive eco-innovation. Featuring an energy?return BOOST? midsole and 95% Parley Ocean Plastic? Primeknit upper, each pair prevents approx. 11 plastic bottles from the possibility of entering our oceans. The silhouettes are available online beginning today and in stores worldwide from June 27 for $200.
