The Rihanna x Puma Sneaker Boot Is Made For Both Sexes
By SoleInsider
Rihanna and Puma link up once more to release a special Sneaker Boot from the Fenty Puma by Rihanna. Out now, let’s get a closer look at the boot.
The unisex Rihanna x Puma Sneaker Boot comes in all-Black from top to bottom. The base of the shoe appears to be done a Black leather construction. It features Puma’s signature Formstrip done in patent leather placed on the side of the sneaker boot. It comes with fat tonal laces as well as a thick padded patent leather tongue to help give it a unique motif. Below you will find a stacked platform midsole. Additonal patent leather also appears on the eyestay to complete the main traits of the boot. Priced at $325, pick these up at select Puma retailers today.
It has a very unique look to it, but I don’t see myself wearing them. Although it’s made for both men and women, I feel like more women would be inclined to pick up this pair.
The PHANTACi x Puma R698 10th Anniversary Collaboration Drops Tomorrow
By SoleInsider
Taiwan’s PHANTACi recently linked up with New Balance to release a collaboration that celebrated the sneaker retailer’s 10 year anniversary. Now they’re doing the same thing with Puma. Here’s a look at both pairs that make up the PHANTACi x Puma R698 10th Anniversary collab.
Both pairs of the Puma R698 are constructed out of a combination of smooth, perforated and tumbled leather. Creating some material contrast are the hits of suede that help give the shoes even more of a premium motif. Additional features on the shoe include the metallic stars noted on the speckled panel near the pink Puma branding on the heel. More Pink hits are found on the Trinomic midsole cushion system while an icy blue outsole is placed below. Dropping tomorrow at PHANTACi, which pair are you feeling the most?
PHANTACi Celebrates 10th Anniversary With The Puma R698
By SoleInsider
PHANTACi has been one of Taiwan’s go-to sneaker spots for the better part of a decade, but now the boutique is making 10 years in the footwear business official with a special collaboration with the head-turning retro running mode, the Puma R698.
Starting this year, PHANTACi has decided to restard from scratch by inviting a number of high-quality respected brands to collaborate for the upcoming 2017 release slate. The Puma R698 utilizes two different colorways. The first is an inviting, clean white with accents of metallic silver stars on the heel. An inspirational “Never give up” lands on the vibrant pink outsole for a flashy finish. Also available is a microperforated black leather rendition featuring timbled accents for a truly one-of-a-kind aesthetic. The same metallic stars are featured on a speckled heel panel while subdued accents of pink hit on the legendary Trinomic midsole cushion system. A more traditional icy blue outsole features the same words.

Look For The atmos x Puma Clyde Tattoo To Arrive This Weekend
By SoleInsider
In just a few days we will all be able to get out hands on the atmos x Puma Clyde Tattoo. This collaboration has Puma and atmos linking up to create a true work of art on the Clyde silhouette.
The collab teams up Tokyo-based atmos and Tokyo tattoo artist Ichibay to create the artistic motif on the Clyde. It starts off with a Black suede upper that is quickly overlooked by the vibrant Japanese wave pattern noted on the side panels. Ichibay, who designed the artwork, says that it is inspired by the traditional ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the 17th to 19th centuries known across the world as one of the country?s greatest artistic exports. Black laces, oriental lettering on the heel and a White sole round out the looks of the shoe. The atmos x Puma Clyde Tattoo releases at select retailers on November 12th for $120, are you looking to pick up a pair? Let us know in the comments below.
Puma Teams Up With Dubai Sneaker Shop Sole DXB For A B-Boy-Inspired Clyde
By SoleInsider
PUMA teams up with Dubai sneaker shop Sole DXB for a premium new edition of the Clyde this winter. Inspired by New York B-boys who have been rocking the Clyde since it hit the streets in 1973, Sole DXB honors the iconic silhouette with a tanned ostrich leather upper in a tonal brown shade. The premium rendition which pays homage to the street style of the ’70s also features metallic gold lace eyelets, fat laces in three color options, and an off-white sole for a vintage feel. Teaming up with NYC’s WAFFLE dance crew, Sole DXB previews the shoe here, which can be purchased later this month at at Early Retirement and the PUMA Select Space for Sole DXB.
The Puma Clyde has been some shine this year, right? Now it’s going worldwide! What do I mean by that? I mean that the shoe you see above is a Sole SWAG x Puma Clyde collaboration set to release at Dubai?s Sole DXB beginning next week. Let’s take a closer look.
The Sole SWAG x Puma Clyde marks the second collab between the two. It’s a limited edition release that has the classic 80’s model done in a premium looking tanned ostrich leather. The ostrich leather is accompanied by the gold lace tip laces made complete with gold foil logo detailing. An off-White sole unit and off-White leather lining complete the smooth look of the shoe. Want a pair? The shoe can be found at the Puma Courtyard space and Early Retirement concept store at Sole DXB, priced at AED 620 (approximately $170 USD).

COOGI Puts Their Signature Print On The Puma Clyde
By SoleInsider
Puma unveiled some of their upcoming collaborations this past weekend at Complex Con with one of them has them joining forces with Australian knitwear brand COOGI.
Utilizing the Puma Clyde as their canvas, COOGI has designed two colorways of the simple and classic sneaker. The first features their signature colorful print all throughout the knitted upper with Black detailing on the Puma formstripe, laces, inner liner, and heel tab. The second pair is a reverse version of the first as the majority of the shoe is done in black suede with COOGI’s colorful print landing on the Puma stripe and inner liner. A cool thing about this sneaker is that no two shoes in the collection are the same as they all have a different pattern.
You can look for the COOGI x Puma Clyde Pack to release some time in the Spring of 2017.

Biggie Small would have rocked these proudly. Pretty dope collab from Puma and COOGI.
Interview: Jeff Staple Previews PUMA Collaboration, Future Of The Culture
By SoleInsider
“So Marc Ecko came up to me [Friday] and he gave me the biggest hug. I was just gonna give him a pound, but he gave me a full one-minute long man hug and he was like just ‘thank you for believing in this vision that all of us can come together and show the world what we’re about.'” – Jeff Staple
That was ComplexCon in a nutshell, succinctly captured by Jeff Staple. Who could have guessed in the early 2000s that a print magazine Marc Ecko developed would grow and become this global icon for “the culture” that we’re now holding a weekend-long event celebrating it in front of thousands of people young and old? But here we are talking to Staple through PUMA but not at a separate locale detached from the rest of the world, but in a crowded Long Beach Convention Center full of energy and excitement.
PUMA has been on the uptick lately thanks to some recent releases that have captured the attention of sneakerheads both hardcore and casual such as the IGNITE EVOknit and the reemergence of the iconic Clyde, not to mention their partnerships with Foot Locker – who partnered up with PUMA for their ComplexCon booth – and style icons Rihanna and Kylie Jenner. Staple’s contribution to PUMA’s resurgence this year was a well-received Pigeon-themed Suede and Blaze of Glory. 2017 will yield yet another collaborative effort between the two as we can expect the IGNITE EVOknit, the Clyde and more to get Pigeon treatment but not necessarily in the way you might expect.
We talked to Staple and PUMA’s Global Senior Head of Lifestyle Yassine Saidi about their relationship through the years, their excitement for what’s to come in 2017 and the state of “the culture” in general and where it’s headed.
PUMA
On this upcoming (2017) collaboration:
Jeff: So when we embarked on the talk of the third time, what were we gonna do that was different from the first two, which was very sneakerhead-centric, so I wanted to come out with something that was more performance and lifestyle-driven. I guess more adult, if you will. The first two you could say was made for the hypebeast and that’s not a derogatory thing because I’m a hypebeast too, but I think there’s a lot of people that have other aspects to their life besides shoes. They have jobs and meetings and husbands and wives and kids, you know? So this collection really represents all of the other things that you go through in life.
Yassine: So we activate what [models] we’re going to use based on the story and theme. So Jeff came up with the concept, mixing style and performance, then we had a set of products that we choose from and we settled on which on we were going to use.
Jeff: But [the EVOknit] wasn’t invented yet when we first started talking about [2017]. So we were already about 25% of the way into the lineup, and then they were ‘hey, check this out’ at the last minute.
When I mentioned that while I like the EVOknit, I wish the collar wasn’t there…
Jeff: We should do a pair where there’s a zipper for your ankles, so you can breathe a little bit. When I eat salty foods my ankles get big too (laughs). But comfort was the number one thing, but the other reason I like this shoe is because I travel a lot and you know you got to take your shoes off when you pass through TSA so these slip on and off real easy.
PUMA
On whether it had to be Pigeon style (grey and shades of pink)…
Jeff: So this is one delivery of the collection, the next delivery is monochromatic black and 3M Reflective (note: my brain exploded hearing that). So there are two colorways coming. This “Pigeonified” colorway was requested by PUMA to link back to our heritage and lineage. And to answer your question of whether we would want to do a whole new colorway, it’s like, why? We own it, you know? Every time another company or another brand “accidentally” releases in this color scheme, they get called out. I don’t even have to police it. People are telling me [that someone is copying his scheme]. It’s like I have my own traffic cops and that’s cool.
The power behind that [is amazing]. I feel so blessed that people own that vocabulary and the crazy thing is that it’s just shades of grey, white and pink. It’s not some crazy flourescent or teal kind of s**t, it’s the combination that’s the owning of it. Like sometimes I can’t believe that others can’t do that style without getting called out. It’s not my fault, but that is the case.
What PUMA brought to the table was that we didn’t have this colorway initially in the collection but they emphasized that. I was sort of like I didn’t want to rest on my laurels but they emphasized that you own something here and people do expect that and you should bring it in and they had to some convincing with me to make it happen.
On how this new collection is different from previous Staple collaborations…
Yassine: From this starting point, we were not going to have the pigeon on the shoe. So there’s two things [symbolic of the Pigeon style], and that’s the pigeon and the grey and pink. So that way we can introduce this as a Staple with the grey and the pink but then also release it in other colorways without having it tied to the pigeon.
Jeff: And there’s not a lot of brands that just have a color branding. And the fact that we just came off an actual Pigeon collaboration (which might take away from the specificity of the Pigeon brand).
On ComplexCon and the future…
Jeff: It’s amazing, I have to check myself constantly because we’re always doing trade shows and I have to remind myself that [the people] here are not industry people. These are kids, consumers, bought a ticket to experience this all. We’re honestly kind of jaded because this is our job 24/7 and 365. And it’s not just the big booths. There’s the 10×10 [booth space] guy in the back that’s got a lot of people excited.
Yassine: And for a brand like us, as Jeff said, we are trade shows. We are talking to accounts and stores like Foot Locker. We don’t get to talk to the people and now with this, there’s a connection which is unique. It’s a special platform, it really is.

Ever since Rihanna became a part of Puma’s team, she’s brought nothing but success to the brand. It’s safe to say, Rihanna is one of the most influential celebrities in the game. How influential is she? Footwear News just awarded the Rihanna x Puma Creeper as the “Shoe of The Year”. Yea, that’s a pretty big accomplishment considering all the shoes that came out this year.
Rihanna will officially be accepting hew award during this year’s 30th FN Achievement Awards. Who did she happen to dethrone? None other than Kanye West and his Yeezy 350 Boost that happened to take the trophy home last year.
Rihanna had this to say in regards to winning shoe of the year, ?In my wildest dreams, I never would have imagined an honor like ?shoe of the year.? It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the creeper.?

The Kicks Lab x PUMA Disc Blaze “Desert Trooper” rolls into finer PUMA suppliers worldwide beginning this Saturday, November 5th with an MSRP of $150; a detailed look at the shoes is right ahead.
Kylie Jenner Does Her Thing In The Brand New Puma Fierce KRM Trainer
By SoleInsider
Puma just released the Puma Fierce KRM Trainer, and what better way to give the shoe some added attention than by pairing it up with Kylie Jenner. We got our first look at the shoe earlier this year, but Puma finally decided to release it today.
The Puma Fierce KRM Trainer comes in a laceless design that blends performance and style aesthetics into one. It comes with a slip-on construction, a supportive midsole, a high collar, and a full-length flex groove and flexible outsole for a wide range of multi-directional movements. The shoe makes its debut in Olive, Black, Winetasting and Whisper White. Pick up any color you like today directly from Puma.
Just yesterday we introduced to you the Puma Clyde Winter which features a new thick nubuck leather upper and ballistic nylon on the tongue to make them more resistant and durable against the elements as well as warmer for your feet.
If you weren’t a fan of the Burnt Olive/Orange pair that we took a look at, perhaps this versatile Vintage Khaki pair is more your style. Covered in light grey all throughout the upper, this Puma Clyde Winter is then complemented beautifully by a gum sole unit.
The Puma Clyde Winter in Vintage Khaki is available at select Puma retailers beginning this week for $90.
The Latest Stampd x Puma Collection Is Available Now
By SoleInsider
Stampd and Puma link up once more to add another chapter to their long list of collaborative efforts. This time around the collaboration is centered around three Puma models, the Puma States, the Puma Trinomic Sock NM and the Puma Blaze of Glory NU. All three models received premium upgrades such as using nubuck leather and Italian suede as the shoe’s construction. All three models will also come in different colorways to choose from, those colors include Forest Night, Asphalt and Star White. Take a look at all three pairs above and just know that you can now pick up any of these models at select retailers all around the globe.
The closer we get to December/January the colder the weather gets. The Puma Clyde needs to make some adjustments for the changing of the seasons by being outfitted with some new materials.
Seen above is the Puma Clyde Winter which comes equipped with a thick nubuck leather upper and ballistic nylon on the tongue. The inner liner has also been hit with some added insulation for a warmer feel that your feet will definitely thank you for. This colorway comes in Burnt Olive on the upper with Orange detailing on the inner liner. Down below we have a gum sole to cap off the look.
This Puma Clyde Winter is available at select retailers now for $90.
This winterized version of the Puma Clyde looks very similar to the original, which is a good thing. I just hope that it’s actually warmer and better suited for the colder weather. I’m not a fan of this specific colorway though.
