Last night, adidas Skateboarding and NYC-based publishing company Paradigm (?Love,? ?Two-Thousand Memories?) with founder Theo Constantinou premiered the Spread Light, Leave No Trace mini documentary featuring Pro rider Mark Suicu. During this premier, they also announced the adidas Skateboarding by Paradigm footwear and apparel capsule.
Previewed below, this capsule focuses on raising awareness on sustainability. The six-piece collection features the Three Stripes? eco-tech Primegreen, a series of high-performance recycled materials, and Primeblue, made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic.
Co-designed by Constantinou, the adidas Skateboarding by Paradigm capsule will be animated through Spread Light, Leave No Trace and namesake book produced by adidas Skateboarding that prominently features the Paradigm founder with close friend Mark Suciu. Both the film and book will be released leading up to the footwear and apparel collection launch next month.
The capsule was inspired by the book ?Uninhabitable Earth ? Life After Warming? by David Wallace-Wells and aims to be as sustainable as possible, aligning with adidas? ambitions towards ending plastic waste while creating products that are built to last. Just as Paradigm originated from Constantinou?s life on-the-go, the capsule is made for fellow wanderers with an eye for timeless appeal. It employs minimalistic design that is as durable as it is sustainable, with pops of purple embellishing its sleek, black colorway throughout.
Constantinou?s take on the adidas Gazelle ADV by Paradigm anchors the collection with sustainability in mind. Adopting a 1970s aesthetic with a classic feel, the footwear arrives with an efficient pattern design on the synthetic upper, giving the square edges across the t-toe, tongue and heel counter, while reducing wasted material. Upgraded with ADV performance features for skateboarding, the shoe also features a recycled compound for the rubber foxing wrap and an outsole fabricated from 10% recycled rubber. Rounding out the footwear?s design is the Paradigm mission statement that can be found on the back of the tongue label.
The apparel offerings include the Paradigm Track Jacket and Pant, which are inspired by the classic Beckenbauer tracksuit. Constructed in Primeblue ripstop polyester, both products sport modern technology that features a specialized pocket system that holds everything from phones to passports, and adds functionality to the bottoms. The lightweight and packable Paradigm Tech Shell complements the tracksuit, protecting wearers from the elements with a specially designed hood and a 10k water resistance rating. The Life Before capsule finishes with a soccer-inspired Paradigm Jersey and a Paradigm Tote Bag that can be packed down to pocket size.
