At 10:18 AM EST this morning, Jordan Brand opened the doors of a special pop-up shop in the heart of the SoHo district in downtown New York City. To celebrate the anniversary of the NBA banning the devilish black/red sneakers that Michael wore, Jordan Brand set up shop to re-release the Banned Jordan 1 as well as a limited-edition run of the Satin Jordan 1 “Banned”, which features the iconic shoe rebuilt in that vintage sportswear material. In addition to the shoes, a limited selection of apparel including the satin Wings jacket, t-shirts, and more were available. Get a look inside the space and visit 108 Wooster St. for yourself if you’re in the area.

Michigan Also Has A Home PE Colorway Of The Air Jordan 31

Air Jordan 31 1 Air Jordan 31 2

In the last couple of weeks we’ve seen the Cal Golden Bears, UNC Tar Heels, and Michigan Wolverines all receive their own PE colorways of the Air Jordan 31.

Since Michigan is the newest Jordan Brand-sponsored school, it’s only right that they receive more than one pair. Pictured here is the “Home” PE colorway of the Air Jordan 31. This 31 features a White and Maize Flyweave and leather upper with navy accents placed on the Jumpman logo, midsole, and inner liner. Just like the blue Away pair, this Home colorway also comes with Michigan written on the translucent outsoles.

What are your thoughts? Do you like the Away or Home colorway better?

Author’s Take

Even though this colorway will be harder to keep clean because of the White upper, I like it better than the blue Away pair. The Jumpman and Nike logos just pop much better on this pair.

This past weekend we saw the Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday release and sit on shelves (and still sitting) in what many call a moment of confusion. I thought it was a pretty plain colorway so I’m not surprised to see them sit, no matter if it is an Air Jordan 3.

Up next this weekend we’ll see Jordan Brand release two more retros, but these will most likely not sit on shelves. Up first we have the Air Jordan 6 Pinnacle in Metallic Gold. This luxurious colorway of the Air Jordan 6 celebrates the 25th anniversary of Michael Jordan winning his first NBA championship back in 1991 and features a full Metallic Gold upper that takes inspiration from the Larry O?Brien trophy. White accents then provide some contrast on the tongue, inner liner, heel tab, midsole, and outsole. The shoes even come with a fancy Jumpman hangtag.

You’ll be able to purchase your pair on October 22nd for a retail price of $250.

Author?s Take

I wouldn?t consider myself a huge fan of the Air Jordan 6, but I do like it. However this colorway is just too flashy in my opinion. It?s not something that you would wear often.

In addition to the Air Jordan 6 Pinnacle Metallic Gold that drops this weekend, we’ll also be seeing a Pinnacle version of the Air Jordan 1 Low hit retailers.

Just like the Air Jordan 6 Pinnacle Metallic Gold, this colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Low is also meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Michael Jordan winning his first NBA title back in 1991. This low-top version of the Air Jordan 1 features a full Metallic Silver upper and has taken the “Swoosh-less” look that we’ve already seen a few times this year. Tonal laces, Nike Air branding on the tongue, and a white sole unit complete the look on this Air Jordan 1.

Look for this shiny Air Jordan 1 to release on October 22nd for a retail price of $160. Will you cop?

Author’s Take

Just like the Air Jordan 6 Pinnacle, I just think the colorway is too flashy and not something I would wear too often.

Jordan Brand will be releasing their Pinnacle Collection this weekend that includes Metallic Gold and Silver colorways of the Air Jordan 6 and Air Jordan 1 Low. But the collection doesn’t include only sneakers, but also slides.

Seen above is the Air Jordan 5 Hydro Pinnacle Slide. This Jordan slide features a White Solarsoft footbed with a Metallic Bronze velcro strap that has been hit with a Jumpman logo. Just like the Jordan 6 and Jordan 1, this pair of slides will also be accompanied by a Jumpman hangtag. Retail price is $75 and they release on October 22nd. Will you cop?

via: Nike

Author’s Take

$75 for a pair of slides? These better be the most comfortable slides I’ve ever worn. Never mind, these are a pass for me.

A Full Reveal Of The Air Jordan 13 Black Cat

Air Jordan 13 Air Jordan 13 1 Air Jordan 13 3 Air Jordan 13 4 Air Jordan 13 5 Air Jordan 13 2

An overview of the purported Air Jordan 13 Black Cat has now been unveiled, as the colorway is noted to be inspired by the black panther.

As suggested, the sneaker boasts a stealthy black finish across its entire upper with 3M reflective detailing evident across the component, as well as throughout the laces. The respective theme is further evident on the insoles with a graphic, while the circular hologram on the heel essentially mimics the panther?s eye with a greenish hue. In addition, glossy accents are applied on its matching rubber sole unit to finish off the understated profile.

This pair is suggested to make its official debut sometime during Spring 2017, but, stay tuned to KicksOnFire for further updates.

Author’s Take

I like this theme and 3M detailing is solid. This pair is pretty versatile altogether and it should garner the attention it deserves.

Detailed Look At The Air Jordan 12 Royal

Jordan Brand must know how insanely popular the original Don C x Air Jordan 2 was with its luxurious royal blue quilted leather and matching apparel accessories, which is why we’re not all that surprised to see the return of an all Deep Royal Blue retro for this coming Holiday 2016 season. The Jumpman is trying a different retro on for size this time, as the Air Jordan 12 Royal features a beautiful touch of blue suede to contrast the asymmetrical leather mudguard.

The Air Jordan 12 Premium “Deep Royal” will be available November 12th, and due to the added suede upper there’s a price hike from the normal retro price of $190 to $200 USD. We can already see this pair on the feet of Coach Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats as just the right amount of contrasting white hits the Jumpman and ‘Two-3’ tongue stitching. Metallic Royal Blue lace eyelets add a premium finish to the vibrant pair.

Be sure to check out the most detailed look yet at this premium Air Jordan 12 release below and let us know if you plan on picking up a pair on November 12th for $200 USD. Stay tuned for more Jordan release date updates right here on Sneaker News.

Russell Westbrook Debuts The Air Jordan 3 OKC Home PE For GQ

AIR JORDAN 3 2 AIR JORDAN 3 1

Just last month we were blessed with a detailed look at Russel Westbrook?s Air Jordan 3 OKC Away PE that he wore during a game back in 2013.

Today we take a first look at the OKC Home colorway of the Air Jordan 3 as Russell Westbrook wore it for a cover story with GQ. This Home colorway is pretty much identical to the Away pair but instead of having a black leather upper this version utilizes a white leather upper. Blue and orange accents are present to complete the OKC theme along with the signature black and grey elephant print on the toe and heel. Yellow Jumpman logos on the heel and tongue finish off the look.

What are your thoughts on this OKC Home colorway of the Air Jordan 3? Do you like it better than the Away?

The Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday Sitting Might Be The Best Thing For Sneakerheads

A funny thing happened on the way to buying a pair of the just released Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday on Saturday morning. I had a written a short piece on why these kicks were going to become my new regulars and earn a place on my daily rotation alongside my cadre of Ultra Boosts and Internationalists. The simple color palette and positive buzz I was hearing from those who already had a pair only served to bolster my opinion of the kicks. My mind was made up that this was an easy buy as late as Friday afternoon.

But then I wore my Black Flip Air Jordan 3s that night and had a “revelation”. These kicks I had purchased just a few years ago are pretty great and guess what, they still are. While the elephant print upper might turn off some, I feel the concept gives them a leg up on a typical black and white sneaker, which is what the Cyber Mondays are. I already have a handful of Air Jordan 3s in my collection and as much as I wanted to add one more the following day, the remainder of 2016 has more than a few retros that I was interested in far more than the Cyber Mondays, including the Air Jordan 3 True Blue and the Air Jordan 11 Space Jam.

Basically, I convinced myself out of spending $190 (plus tax) on a pair of sneakers that would have gotten plenty of use but ultimately would have been a superfluous addition to the collection. Little did I know the rest of the sneaker world had the same idea.

Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday Easy Cop 2 Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday Easy Cop 1 Air Jordan 3 Cyber Monday Easy Cop 3

I just assume that anytime an Air Jordan 3 drops, it’s an automatic sell out. It might hang around for a few days like the bizarre Joker or Crimson drops, but for the most part 3s typically aren’t long for the shelves. But with so much good word about the shoe and the fact that it was a versatile pair to boot prior to release, I just figured I would take the L on them and just save up for the next thing. As it turns out, that wasn’t the case as the Cyber Mondays can be had at any store online and in-person in any size for $190. That’s kind of crazy, but I think it’s a great kind of crazy.

The shelving of the Cyber Monday 3s follows in a long line of sneakers that we just assumed would be a pain in the ass to buy on release day but ended up sitting way longer than expected in 2016. If you’re a Jordan apologist, you could say that the lack of a story behind the shoe and the dropping day and date with the latest adidas Yeezy drop contributed to the lack of interest, but there are plenty of retros available now at stores that have been around for months and not all of them had to compete with a Yeezy. Seems like the “remastered” or “premium” concept only works on very limited releases. If the Cyber Monday had a PRM label and a $400 price tag, it would have sold out in seconds.

Over a year ago, I laughed off the trashiest of trash Jordan retros, the Pro Stars Air Jordan 5. I think they are an affront to the sneaker community in regards their terribleness and that if you paid retail price for them, you should pay somebody even more money to take them away from you. At the same time, I didn’t think that it would affect Jordan Brand’s bottom line because inevitably those monstrosities would disappear from stores and new retros would take their place. Now that we have multiple retros just sitting and stores are dropping prices in an effort to get rid of them, especially a model that is as revered as the 3, maybe this is the tipping point that Jordan Brand needs to see and revise their strategy. No, I’m not advocating a return to the 2010-2013 era when even the lamest of retros we selling out but rather a refocus on what makes something like the Shattered Backboards an instant classic (read: great story, materials and reasonable price and production numbers) and something that should be great like the Cyber Monday 3s (or even the 1s) a “failure”.

A Look At Anthony Hamiltons Chocolate Air Jordan 10s

It had been quite some time since Anthony Hamilton unveiled a sneaker from his Air Jordan Brown/Gum collection, but now he’s back and this time with the Air Jordan 10.

His custom Air Jordan 10 features a buttery brown leather upper with tonal hits also landing on the laces, tongue, branding, and inner liner. Down below we see a white midsole and gum outsole to wrap things up.

Where does this Air Jordan 10 rank among all the colorways that we’ve seen so far? Let us know your thoughts on this pair in the comments below.

Author’s Take

Not bad. I’m typically not a fan of the Air Jordan 10, but I wouldn’t mind wearing these.
