For Black History Month, PUMA is recognizing one of their most important signature athletes in Walt “Clyde” Frazier. As the first NBA player to have his own signature shoe, the PUMA Clyde was the precursor to the Jordans, Iversons, Kobes and LeBrons that we all love and cherish today. But while a new basketball signature shoe might be hot for a minute in this age when we hype up one thing for a day and forget it the next, the Clyde has endured because like its namesake, it has adopted to the changing times and styles. Depending on who you talk to, some say Frazier’s style, which is still on display whenever you watch a Knicks game, is either ahead of the curve or living in the past. That just means you’re still paying attention after all these years and that he is truly timeless.
The PUMA Clyde Legacy Collection that’s available now goes back to Frazier’s roots, specifically his high school days. David T. Howard High School might not be a name you recognize, but it’s alumnus includes some key members of the Civil Rights Movement, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Legacy Collection features two new premium Clyde colorways, the Wool and BBall, which we unboxed along with a few extras in the latest edition of KoF Live.
Check out the unboxing video up top and be sure to like us on Facebook so that you’ll be notified of the next we go live.
