Barkley, Penny, and Payton Inspired The Design Of The Nike Zoom Kobe Icon

While Michael Jordan may have shaped Kobe Bryant’s game, the credit goes to Charles Barkley, Penny Hardaway, and Gary Payton for shaping the design of this retro-inspired Nike Zoom Kobe Icon. This strange Kobe-centric shoe recently hit stores and immediately sneakerheads pointed out the Glove-like upper shroud and that Gary Payton’s signature shoe history must have played a role in the Kobe Icon. Nike reveals that Charles Barkley and Penny Hardaway were key figures in this play as well; the inner bootie design is a nod to Sir Charles’ past designs, while Penny’s role takes place on the Chevron pattern on the Jacquard upper (not featured here, but part of other Zoom Kobe Icon releases). In addition, one of Barkley’s memorable quotes on Kobe is featured on the heel of the shoes. The Red/Gold pair just hit stores like Sneakersnstuff, so grab another look below.

UK-based grime artist, Skepta, recently showcased a unique variation of the Nike Air Classic BW that he happened to design.

Dubbed ?Blacklisted,? the sneaker flaunts an all-black makeup and essentially a nod to the artist’s 2012 mixtape of the same name. Comprised of smooth suede across the majority of its upper, the model rests atop a matching sole unit with its signature air bubble component visible in the heel.

The sneaker is rounded out with matching laces and leather Swooshes to define its colorless makeup. No word yet on a proposed release, although stay tuned in to KicksOnFire for further updates.

It’s pretty versatile in this makeup. If it does release to the public, I’ll consider purchasing. It’s a perfect everyday pair.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low Gears Up For March Madness

The favorite time of the year for college basketball fans is right around the corner as March Madness is set to get underway next month. In honor of the huge basketball tournament Nike has created this unofficial March Madness Pack that features three colorways of the classic Nike Air Force 1 Low.

Each colorway that you see above has been given a simple two color combination including a white and blue pair, a red and blue pair and a black and silver pair. Each colorway also comes with Sail/off-white detailing on the midsoles, laces and Swoosh for that retro/aged look. A nice added touch is the addition of an embroidered logo of either a basketball, scissors or a net by the ankle.

Expect this March Madness-themed pack of Air Force 1s to release some time next month right on time for the big dance.

via: Caliroots

Author’s Take

I’m not a college basketball fan but I know how crazy and exciting things get for the big tournament. This is pretty cool pack and Nike should definitely create more colorways so more people can represent their team proudly.

Nike Air Huarache Beta Blue

Nike Air Huarache Beta Blue 1 Nike Air Huarache Beta Blue 2 Nike Air Huarache Beta Blue 3

Spring and Summer are right around the corner which means the perfect time to bring out all those bright colored kicks. Unless you like wearing them all year round then that’s cool too.

This Nike Air Huarache couldn’t get any brighter as we see Beta Blue land on the toebox, toecap, side panel overlays, laces and the Huarache branding on the tongue. Adding some balance is Anthracite and Cool Grey on the neoprene bootie/inner liner, heel counter, side panels and midsole/outsole.

What are your thoughts on this Spring 2016 colorway of the Nike Air Huarache? Do you see yourself picking up a pair?

via: asphaltgold

Author’s Take

That shade of blue is a little too bright for my liking. I would have preferred to see navy blue or even royal blue. As a result these will be a pass for me.

Release Date: Nike Little Posite One Black Fruity Pebbles

Nike Little Posite One 1 Nike Little Posite One 2 Nike Little Posite One 3 Nike Little Posite One 4 Nike Little Posite One 5 Nike Little Posite One 6

Just last week we received our first look at the Nike Little Posite One in the all-new Black Fruity Pebbles colorway. After releasing the white pair in 2015 Nike has decided to give us its counterpart in 2016.

Utilizing a Black foamposite shell upper, multicolor graphics have been added on the outsole to give the sneaker that Fruity Pebbles look similar to the LeBron 13 that just released over the weekend. The carbon fiber on the midsole/outsole also features a black background with multicolor dots similar to what we see on the outsole.

You’ll be able to find the Nike Little Posite One in the Black Fruity Pebbles colorway beginning on February 27th for a retail price of $180. Any guys out there disappointed that these won’t be available in men’s sizes?

via: Shoe Palace

Author?s Take

Between this black pair and the white pair from last year I think the black pair is better. That colorful outsole makes it seem too much like kids shoe so so I don?t know how these would do if they released for men.

Essentially the brand’s latest lifestyle silhouette, the model exudes futuristic flair with its sleek, yet textured premium leather upper, while its high-cut profile is further defined by an adjustable ankle strap. Author’s Take

I like the futuristic/Air Mag vibe of the design overall. This finish is a classic, but I prefer it more on the previous Nude colorway instead.

The Masters: 10 Favorite Nike Air Jordan Posters

With the release of the Air Jordan 12 The Master coming this weekend, the hype for the drop has also brought along with it a newfound appreciation for classic Air Jordan posters. Ok, there’s a lie in that sentence. Sure, there is an excitement for The Master colorway, but my guess is that excitement would be a lot more palpable if the price wasn’t damn near $200. But what it has done has made people aware of an Air Jordan poster that up to this point that has really been lost to time – “The Master”.

Release Date Air Jordan 12 The Master 7
Nike

It’s… a poster of Michael Jordan. Great, right? He’s wearing the Air Jordan 12, but it’s not The Master colorway. It could be the Cherry Red or the Taxi but it’s hard to tell because the picture went through a Sepia filter. He’s dribbling the ball and getting ready to break you down with his killer scowl. He’s not dunking over you, he’s not flying over your head and he’s certainly not smiling while he’s doing it. Nope, this is a different MJ. Older. Wiser. More cerebral. Sure, it’s a better representative of Michael Jordan during that time, but let’s be honest, it’s also kinda boring and probably wouldn’t make anybody’s top 10 list of the best Air Jordan posters.

But we’re thankful either way because here is our my list of favorite Air Jordan posters. Don’t forget to check out our Air Jordan 12 The Master launch page for more images, videos and much more.

Windmill (Wheaties)

iamrty
iamrty

As one of four collectible Nike posters found in Wheaties cereals back in the late 1980s, this is a picture taken from the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk that Jordan famously robbed won against Dominique Wilkins. Yeah, everybody remembers the free-throw line dunk, but this was an equally classic image that shows MJ at the peak of his athletic powers. Also, White Cement 3s.

Air Superiority

Jordans Daily
Jordans Daily

Another lesser known poster, I would have put that famous billboard of himself that Jordan walks by in Barcelona on this list were it an actual poster. Anyways, this simple picture depicts MJ getting ready to lay some serious hurting on the rest of the word since he is quite simply superior to the competition. Note: This is what happens when Reebok has the Team USA license. Nike should always have the Team USA license.

Playground

Nike
Nike

Wait, let me find my Laserdisc copy of Michael Jordan’s Playground while I stare at this pic. Between the style of graffiti (there has to be an inside joke there somewhere), the clothes and the kicks, this was the quintessential early 90s photo. You could have taken MJ out of the equation and I feel like this shot would have made it onto a museum somewhere.

Hare Jordan

Nike
Nike

The best in the world teams up with the best in the cartoon world. MJ, Bugs and everything that came from that partnership was so perfect that I shudder to think what an MJ-Disney team-up would have looked like back in that era before Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. It would have been the most milquetoast pairing with zero edge. As somebody who preferred the slapstick comedy of a coyote getting an anvil dropped on his head back in those days, it was genius.

Wings

Nike
Nike

If I could get any poster signed by MJ and hung up on my walls, it would be this one. Sure, it’s not the most original idea and Upper Deck has already done this death, but there’s a reason why any MJ fan would want that particular item. It’s the original inspirational poster before middle managers thought they could increase productivity with stupid quotes that are rarely attributed to the right person.

Failure

Air Jordan Posters - Failure
d_goat1

Anytime I see an MJ stan act like MJ never failed, I point out this quote. It’s easy to root for the guy who never failed, but it turns out he failed a whole hell of a lot too. Also, MJ stans continue to be the worst.

Air Jordan

Nike
Nike

It’s the original Air Jordan poster, but I remember it more as a card that came with the Air Jordan 1. Still looking for a good price on a mint condition one though…

Six Rings

Nike
Nike

/Rant: You know how some people get incredulous whenever Jordan’s six championship rings get brought up as some sort of gold standard when Bill Russell has eleven? Well, it’s kind of like how Kobe’s 81 points is looked upon by this generation as the benchmark even though Wilt Chamberlain once scored 100 in a game. People want to feel like the moments that they lived through are the coolest thing ever and nothing could ever possibly top it. So yeah, dope picture and poster, but also another reminder of MJ stans, who are still the worst.

Dunk Contest

Nike
Nike

I swear, every time I see this picture, Jordan’s distance from the ground gets a little bit higher as if he’s dunking on a 12-foot rim. You almost begin to question the authenticity of the photo, that’s how amazing Jordan’s dunk seems as more time passes. I just wonder if this is the first or second free-throw dunk that he got a perfect score for as Dominique Wilkins looks on with a “I’m actually going to get robbed out of this” face.

Art Of The Dunk

Nike
Nike

It’s not the best poster, but it is the one that stayed on my wall for the longest time. It has made it through two apartments and a house and is enjoying life right now rolled up in retirement after spending close to a decade pinned or taped up.

Nike Air Huarache Beta Blue

The Nike Air Huarache‘s momentum has since slowed down since its dominant retro run dating back to 2013. That doesn’t mean that Tinker Hatfield’s 1991 classic running silhouette has taken a backseat to any other retro given priority – in fact quite the opposite, as the OG Huarache has gone on to inspire a few new takes with updated technology for a modern twist. Today the Huarache is back in a head-turning “Beta Blue” look, as a colorful splash of electric blue hits the upper to coincide with neoprene Anthracite accents and a Black heel cage. It’s a look that the Super Bowl runner-ups and their legions of fans can definitely get behind. What do you think? Check out a better look below and be on the lookout for this pair to arrive later this Spring 2016 season.

Nike Is Ready For March Madness With The Air Force 1 Low

Nike Basketball’s “Net Collectors Society” is expanding this year, celebrating the pinnacle of the college hoops season with a number of exclusive colorways of the ever-classic Nike Air Force 1 Low. Bruce Kilgore’s design did actually start out as a college basketball staple for performance before transitioning over to the lifestyle market. Here, three simple two color combinations rest atop pre-aged sail midsoles for a timeless look. Logos of scissors, a basketball, and a net are stitched onto the respective heels (a feature that was recently erased from a few AF1 High selections). Your options include a Kentucky-esque royal and white, an Arizona-like red and blue, and a simple black and silver combo. Be sure to get a better glimpse of the March Madness-themed trio below and we’ll let you know when each pair sees stateside availability early next month.
