A Detailed Lool At The New Nike NBA Therma Flex Showtime Warm-Up Jacket

The that Nike and the NBA have partnered up, expect a lot of great new innovative apparel coming your way. Those new offerings will also include pre-game apparel for NBA players. Today we take a closer look at one of those offerings, the new Nike NBA Therma Flex Showtime Warm-Up Jacket.

Said to be the first performance hooded jacket for NBA players to wear, the new jackert is constructed out of a brand new material that Nike is calling Therma Flex. It?s similar to a mid-weight fleece, but inverted. ?A typical fleece is fuzzy on the inside and flat on the outside, but we made this flat against the skin and super-soft on the outside,? says Kurt Parker, Nike VP of Apparel Design. ?The outside has a dotted texture to it that traps body heat in the fabric, and it?s soft to the touch and smooth against the skin.? So far, the Showtime Warm-Up Jacket is the only product that uses Nike Therma Flex, but the designers say there are plans to create more player and fan gear with it in the coming months.

Unlike the typical fleece fabric used in standard team-issued hooded sweatshirts, the Nike Therma Flex fabric used in the jacket stretches in every direction, so athletes move freely and quickly without any restrictions from the silhouette. Zippers up the sides allow for additional mobility or venting when desired, while elastic cuffs stop the sleeves from falling over the hand.

?We learned that most guys prefer to wear a hood up, but it impedes the way they can see and hear, it moves around and it can get really hot,? explains Parker. To solve for those problems, the Nike Basketball designers placed mesh over the ears to allow the players to hear their coaches and teammates before the game, and to vent and keep them from overheating. The hood opening is carved out around the eye, so when a player has the hood on he can have 100 percent of his peripheral vision. The elastic around the edge helps it fit without draw cords, which players said can be distracting.

Fan versions of the Nike Therma Flex Showtime Warm-up Jacket will be available September 29 on nike.com/nba.

A Closer Look At The Official Nike NBA Socks

Now that you’ve gotten a good look at the Nike NBA uniforms, now it’s time we place our focus on the new NBA NikeGrip Power and Quick socks. Just like the new Nike uniforms, the new Nike socks are also set to make their debut on NBA hardwoods all over the country (and Canada) this upcoming season. Here’s what you need to know about the NBA NikeGrip Power and Quick socks

  • These are the first Nike socks to have the NBA logo. Special versions of both socks will be worn by all NBA athletes throughout the season, and there will be a Nike sock for each uniform edition.
  • Nike Basketball and Jordan athletes got first-hand experience with the NBA NikeGrip Power and Quick Crew socks at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and provided crucial insights for their development. Nike also worked with collegiate and high school players on all aspects of the sock development and extended wear-testing process.
  • To achieve optimum zoned thickness for the NBA NikeGrip Power Crew sock, Nike?s NXT developed a new machine with a larger dial and needle than anything on the market at the time. The needles have wider entries to fit thicker yarn through, which enables the machine to create bigger terry loops that are knitted to sculpt the foot. The machine can add cushion, mesh and NikeGrip where needed. As a result, the NBA NikeGrip Power Crew sock is the most-cushioned performance sock Nike has ever created.
  • Both of Nike?s NBA NikeGrip Crew socks are made with cushioning in the areas where basketball players need it most: on the forefoot, heel and ankle. Thinner mesh on top of the sock vents (this placement was determined through thermal mapping). NikeGrip on the lateral side grips the outside of the foot. The forefoot of the NBA NikeGrip Quick Crew sock has Nike Forefoot Lock (two thin spandex bands that arch to support the foot and prevent the socks from bunching near the toes). Both the NBA NikeGrip Power and Quick Crew socks incorporate a heel lock that keeps the sock in place and reduces sliding.
  • The Charlotte Hornets get their own Jordan socks (another first).

Quick and Power versions of the Nike and Jordan NBA NikeGrip Crew socks come in Black and White, and are available October 1st on Nike.com/NBA. A version of the NBA Nike Elite Quick sock will also be available in team colors.

Travis Scott Has His Very Own Nike Air Force 1 Low Collab On The Way

A Travis Scott x Nike Air Force 1 Low collab recently hit the net. Early reports suggest we see these release exclusively at ComplexCon this Fall season.

The exclusively at ComplexCon consists of a White canvas upper placed on top of a White midsole and Gum outsole. The star of the show shoe is without a doubt the velcro branded Nike Swoosh logos done in Metallic, Marble and Iridescent. In other words, you are able to customize the shoe to your liking using three different Swoosh colors. Another feature that should not go unnoticed is the additional velcro patches (see image above) that appear to go over the laces. More on that as soon as more info is surfaced. Thoughts on the Travis Scott x Nike Air Force 1 Low?
