Let the NBA regular season begin! Nike Basketball surprised everyone when they announced their “4 Wins” Championship Pack featuring four combinations of the Nike LeBron Soldier 10 and the Nike Kyrie 2 each in game-specific PE renditions based on the pairs worn by the dynamic duo in each of the Cavs’ NBA Finals victories. So what pair will Kyrie lace up tonight during the Cavaliers’ ring ceremony? Only time will tell, but this Nike Kyrie 2 White/Metallic option would be a stellar choice based on how cold Irving’s last field goal attempt was.

The Nike Kyrie 2 “White/Metallic Silver” was rumored for an early October release but saw subsequent delays thanks to the “4 Wins” releases throughout the month. Later today, the World Series kicks off and when all is said and done, one miserable fan base is going to be free of a decades-long pain from never winning the big one while the other has to embrace yet another heartbreaking defeat. We here at Kicks On Fire don’t have a particular rooting interest in the fight – although some of the staff are Dodger fans and are totally not bitter at all – but in the interest of fun (and because Bill Murray is a Cubs fan and we love Bill Murray), and because the city of Cleveland just recently rid themselves of a championship drought thanks to the Golden State Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals, we are rooting for the Chicago Cubs (and Bill Murray) to finally win their first World Series since 1908.

Over a decade ago, Nike jumped on the Boston Red Sox bandwagon when they followed The Idiots all the way to their first championship in over 80 years. This year, adidas is taking a not-so-subtle approach in their support of the Cubs and their star player Kris Bryant. With both brands being represented in the Fall Classic, this edition of Fun With… has well, fun with mi adidas and NIKEiD as we create Cubs-centric colorways for fans to commemorate their (hopeful) World Series win. For the most part, I tend to stay away from this Flyknit ankle collar look/trend, only because it does not look good on me. But I gotta admit, these look pretty fresh. The use of leather and Flyknit on the upper and a Lunarlon sole are all great features on the shoe.

This latest rendition of the Nike Air Max 90 comes with a little something extra in the form of a zippered shroud. I don’t blame you if you didn’t recognize the model at first, but trust me when I say there’s an Air Max 90 somewhere underneath that extra layer of paneling.

Currently known as the Nike Air Max 90 Mid Utility, this version of the Air Max 90 comes with a brand new lacing system. How new? It comes with no laces! Instead it opts for a zippered shroud construction that ends up covering the majority of the base. This colorway is supposed to be the Infrared colorway, with a major difference being the extra detailing placed on the mudguard. Adidas took the time to unveil James Harden’s first signature shoe with the brand over the weekend with the adidas Harden Vol. 1. While James will be lacing up his new sneaker this season (which kicks off today), we won’t be able to get our hands on a pair until early December.

So why did James Harden really leave Nike and join adidas? With the three stripes giving him a massive $200 million contract we have to believe that it was the money that lured him away, right? Well actually no. Harden had different reasons for leaving.

“It?s not about the money, it’s about the voice,” Harden said. “It’s about creating. It?s about the things I have in my hand, designing and wanting it to get out so people around the world can get it and get a taste for it.”

Barely having joined adidas a year ago, Harden has already received his own shoe and looks to be the current face of their basketball division. This is something that probably would have never happened with Nike due to all of the other players they have on their roster.
