The Nike Presto Flyknit Will Release In May
By SoleInsider
A match made in heaven, the Air Presto and Flyknit finally combine for the first time ever this spring on the Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit. Receiving two updates to the iconic Presto silhouette, the Flyknit construction not only goes with a higher top but also receives an updated ‘Ultra’ tooling characterized by the cored-out design we’ve seen on other Ultra models like the Air Force 1 Flyknit and Air Max 1. Preview the Flyknit Prestos in three colorways of dark blue, light blue, and all-white here, which release at retailers worldwide like Chimp Store on May 5th.
A Detailed Look At The Nike FC Summer 2016 Collection
By SoleInsider
Nike FC is back with a new footwear collection for Summer 2016. Nike Sportswear’s soccer lifestyle print plans on dropping an upcoming capsule featuring the likes of the Nike Free Mercurial Superfly, the Nike Footscape Magista, and the freshly minted NikeLab Tiempo Vetta. Each soccer-inspired silhouette takes a sleek design from the pitch to everyday lifestyle wear. The Hypervenom’s free outsole is speckled with black accents while the premium Flyknit and leather upper utilize black and anthracite shades. The Footscape Magista’s gum hints on the natural motion outsole contrast a royal blue bolstered Flyknit throughout. The recently introduced Tiempo Vetta takes the iconic silhouette based on the 1994 Tiempo classic and adds some frills like a Honeycomb-esque construction to the heel. Not pictured here is an upcoming Hyvernom Mid. Check out a better view of Nike FC’s latest seasonal installment after the break and we’ll keep you updated on a release date in the near future.
The Nike Sock Dart has been an important part of Nike Sportswear’s yearly lineup, as it’s joined its other early 2000 counterpart in the Nike Air Presto to revitalize a once-forgotten era of Nike Running over a decade later. Nike’s next shipment of Sock Darts focuses on ditching the translucent midfoot strap for a new plastic-like solid color mockup instead. The latest installment is known as the Nike Sock Dart SE for this standout feature and will come in monochromatic varieties like Black, Hasta green, Racer Blue and Total Crimson with each pair featuring a matching strap and speckled midsole. Expect these four upcoming Sock Dart SE pairs to arrive at Nike retailers worldwide on April 22nd. Pricing details to come.
The Women Will Soon Be Able To Pick Up The Nike Air Presto Dark Purple
By SoleInsider
The Nike Air Presto is getting ready to release in a brand new tonal offering. This latest version of the shoe, which comes dressed in a Dark Purple upper, will be made exclusively for the women. Let’s scope out the official images of the Nike Air Presto Dark Purple.
The Presto is constructed out of an all-mesh Dark Purple upper accompanied by the TPU caging system that extends all the way to the heel counter of the shoe. Contrasting branding hits are spotted on the toebox and on the front of the slip-on construction. Tonal laces, a white midsole and black outsole complete the look of the shoe. No word yet on when Nike will decide to drop these, but expect these to arrive in the near future. Ladies, is this a cop or drop? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
Like all the tonal Presto offerings, this is also a solid look on the shoe. The Dark Purple is very versatile that I would no be surprised if men were to pick up the shoe as well.

Nike Brings Back The Meadow, An Early 80s Tennis Shoe
By SoleInsider
Nike’s tennis imprint has brought back some of its most iconic silhouettes in the past half-decade, from The Air Tech Challenge II, Air Trainer 1s, and even the lifestyle intended Nike Tennis Classic. But how many of you remember the simplistic style of the Nike Meadow? The early 80s tennis offering kept things as spare as possible in a time when Nike was about to turn a corner and offer up bold visible air technology to the masses. This White/Gorge Green colorway harkens back to those pre-Tinker dominant days with a simple low top utilizing a classic combination of mesh, leather, and suede. Once a go-to for on-court performance, this model will probably serve as an icon to the norm-core movement more than anything else today. Check out a better view below and we’ll keep you updated when this obscure Nike Tennis offering lands at stateside retailers late this Spring 2016 season.
Commentary: Are Nikes Elite Playoff Kicks Necessary
By SoleInsider
The road to the NBA Championship finally kicks off in earnest on April 16 when the NBA Playoffs begins. Much like the Royal Rumble is considered the beginning of “Wrestlemania Season”, the NBA Playoffs is a multi-month journey where the games are way more competitive and interesting and your desire to tune in is heightened because there are actual stakes now. There’s less talk, less off-court drama and less likelihood of somebody bringing up how great Michael Jordan and the Bulls were in the ’90s because everybody is so focused on the now. It’s good times all around.
What maybe hasn’t been considered good times for the past few years now has been Nike’s Elite Basketball series. First revealed back in 2012, the sneaker community all bought into the hype as the shoes look tougher and leaner than their regular season counterparts. But after a successful first effort, it has felt like diminishing returns ever since. So how did we get from where we were years ago to now all we can do is make endless jokes and wait for price cuts? Let’s take a look back, shall we?
Nike Basketball Elite Series 2012 (Nike)
In 2012, Nike Basketball introduced their Elite Series of footwear for the upcoming playoff push. With an “upgraded” look and an emphasis in performance, these black (“Away”) and white (“Home”) kicks with gold accents was essentially a refresh of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James’ signature kicks (the Hyperdunk 2011 was the third pillar of the collection). Gearing up for the playoffs was nothing new especially with LeBron’s signature line, but this was a more concerned effort on Nike’s part to market them as being built for the rigors of playoff basketball. Without having to wait until the following season to introduce a brand new model, Nike was able to drop fresh product on store shelves late in the NBA calendar and entice those who maybe copped a Kobe 7 or a LeBron 9 early and were just waiting for the next thing and the diehard sneakerheads who read the blogs everyday to spend a little bit more. The prices also tested the willpower of consumers, as they were either dancing around or hopping over the $200 price point.
Because they dropped in limited numbers relative to their regular season counterparts (and because the LeBron 9 Elite also dropped a much-hyped Miami Vice colorway and was part of the even more hyped “Championship Pack”), the Elite Series was seen as a success. Despite rumors of being a one-off affair, when word started to spread that Nike would be bringing back the Elite Series the following year with the KD line in tow, a repeat sales monster was almost a certainty. Until it wasn’t…
Nike Basketball Elite Series 2013 (Nike)
Riding on the bandwagon of superhero movies, Nike touted their three signature stars as heroes on the level of a Spider-Man or Iron Man. The launch colorways of the Elite Series played more into Kobe, LeBron and KD being larger than life characters that could do unreal things on the basketball court. While that might be true, there seemed to be a disconnect between what Nike was aiming for and what sneakerheads wanted to see. Later on, we would also see the return of the white/gold colorways that were meant to be the kicks we actually saw on the court, but the excitement and the energy for 2.0 just wasn’t the same. Save for the LeBron 10 Elite that was part of James’ second “Championship Pack”, Elite kicks could be seen languishing in stores. Even price drops couldn’t save the KD 5 Elite, which many derisively called simply a low-cut version of the previous year’s Hyperdunk Elite.
2014 would see Nike do a better job of distinguishing the Elite series, dividing them into easy to classify groups that any casual fan and sneakerhead would understand. They would bring back the “Hero” series but with more appealing colorways, a “Team” series that hopefully each player would actually wear on the court during the playoffs (spoiler: KD rarely wore the Elite on-court, Kobe was injured and James was busy wearing a different signature shoe that wasn’t really a signature shoe) and the “Gold Series” that was actually pretty good never appeared in the NBA Finals (unless you count Manu Ginobili wearing PE versions of the LeBron 11 Elite). In terms of hype and retail presence, none of the kicks sold out right away. We’re hesitant to count the fragment design x KD 6 Elite in this group because it was designed and marketed as a lifestyle release. The success of that shoe had more to do with the fragment co-sign than KD.

Nike Basketball Elite Series 2015 (Nike)
The 2015 edition of Nike Basketball’s Elite series opted for more simpler tones and colorways that ideally would appeal to a more wider audience, especially the Rose Gold colorways since that was all the rage at the time. We even made a joke that the Nike LeBron 11 had a subtle OVO nod that maybe would catch on. It didn’t bite as once again, we saw every release just languish on store shelves and eventually moving on to outlet stores where we saw them for nearly half off their original prices. Much like the previous year’s fragment design x KD 6 Elite, LeBron’s Elite sneaker got a collab edition when Stéphane Ashpool of Pigalle designed a super clean version of the LeBron 12 Elite. Once again, it took a lifestyle edition of an elite version of a signature shoe – that’s like saying you have a rich second cousin it’s so far removed from you and your family – to get people talking about them.
With the playoffs less than two weeks away, Nike is once again dropping an Elite Series on sneakerheads who seem to have been an underwhelmed by this year’s current crop of signature shoes, as evidenced by the continued availability of once-hyped releases like Christmas Day, Black History Month and All-Star Game kicks at retail stores. Call it uninspiring colorways, a public that maybe is wising up and not chomping at the bits to cop everything the moment they become available at Nike.com or kicks just becoming too damn expensive, but it’s getting harder and harder to justify putting down the money right away for the Elite series when you many of them will be sitting in stores all throughout the summer and getting massive price cuts along the way. Is it time to let it go or double up? Nike has already revealed both the LeBron 13 Elite and KD 8 Elite and the answer is holy crap, they are doubling down and just making the equivalent of prototype cars – concepts and ideas that look good on a showroom floor but maybe isn’t ready to be given to the general public – on their feet. While LeBron 13 looks yet again like a stripped down version of his regular season shoe, the KD 8 is something else.
For what it’s worth, the KD 8 Elite actually looks like a stylistic upgrade from the regular KD 8 with the Kevlar Aramid Fiber mixed with the Flywire on the upper. But the compression sock that comes with the shoe makes them a tough sell for anybody that isn’t damn near 7 feet tall like KD. If you’re not slim like he is, this will not be a good look.
So if KD 8 Elite is calf-high, do we call this knee-high version the KD 8 Super Elite?
In one of the rare instances where I become that annoying old sneakerhead who likes things the way they used to be, I miss the old days when we just had special layoff colorways of the signature shoes the players have been wearing all season long (ie. Air Jordan 12 Playoffs, Nike Zoom Kobe 5 Big Stage).
The Nike Free RN Flyknit Debuts Tomorrow In Multiple Colorways
By SoleInsider
Nike is still finding new ways to revolutionalize Free technology, as their latest Nike Free RN Flyknit showcases an updated outsole that improves the flexible advancements of its predecessors. A new pattern utilizes a multi-directional functionality that expands outwardly to help runners move with ease like never before. The Flyknit upper flexes a slip-on construction for extra comfort while Dynamic Flywire adds lockdown support. Available for both men and women, the Free RN Flyknit will arrive at retailers tomorrow, April 7th in six colorways for $130 each. Check out the latest Nike Running release below and stay up to date with the latest release dates right here on Sneaker News.
After releasing intermittently throughout the years and then coming back in a host of original colorways in 2015, it looks like the Nike Air Presto may be here to stay for good in the lineup of the brand’s retro runners, right alongside models like the Air Max 1 and Air Huarache. Yes indeed, the Presto shows no signs of slowing down, as today we get a look at this new version exclusively in women’s sizing, featuring a Dark Purple Dust mesh upper with its TPU pieces and laces in a matching tonal treatment. This clean new look for the women’s Presto will be hitting select Nike Sportswear retailers soon.

Style Code: 846290-500
A new colorway of the women’s exclusive Nike Air Max Thea is unveiled this season, as the modern runner is shaded in Blue Lagoon.
Essentially covering the sneaker’s breathable mesh upper alongside synthetic overlays, a premium tonal leather panel is also applied across its heel for additional reinforcement.
Further complemented with a darker blueish palette on the inner lining, pull tabs, Swoosh branding and portions of its outsole, the model is rounded out by a clean white midsole unit.
You can purchase this latest variation of the silhouette at select Nike accounts overseas first, while a stateside release is imminent.
I’m a big fan of the sneaker’s design. Even though it’s a women’s silhouette, this colorway is versatile for all genders in my opinion. It’s another solid offering.

The OG-inspired colorways of the Nike Air Force 1 show no signs of slowing down as we now take a look at official images of the next pair.
This Nike Air Force 1 High OG takes on a classic Black upper with Sail accents but there’s one big change. Instead of using the premium leather upper that we?ve seen on all the previous pairs, this Air Force 1 opts for a canvas upper. The only hits of leather come on the Swoosh branding. The strap also features Nike branding, something else that we haven?t seen on previous pairs.
If you’d like to get your hands on a pair now then you can get them directly from nike.com for a retail price of $140. Or you can wait for them to go on clearance like every other pair eventually does.
I?m not against canvas but I?m a bigger fan of leather because of how much more comfortable it is. It?s also easier to clean leather. This new black canvas option is nice but I wouldn?t cop.

Michelle Obama Is Given A Custom Pair Of Shoes From Nike
By SoleInsider
The First Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama was recently given a custom pair of Nikes directly from the Swoosh.
The sneaker, which you can see above, is the all-new Nike Free RN Flyknit and comes in a purple Flyknit upper with black and white accents. Due to the bunny on the tongue and the special box that the shoes come in you can make the connection that this is a special Easter colorway. The box that the shoes came in is just as cool as the shoes as it resembles a chocolate egg and when you open it the shoes are placed in the shape of a bunny’s head.
We’re sure that the First Lady will put these kicks to good use as she’a a big advocate of living a healthy and active lifestyle.
Denim Overlays Appear On This Nike Air Force 1 Mid
By SoleInsider
There’s a new colorway of the Nike Air Force 1 Mid releasing and it’s one that you definitely don’t wanna sleep on.
The Air Force 1 Mid many times gets lost in the shuffle since people usually prefer either the Lows or the Highs. But when a colorway like this comes around it’s hard to ignore. This Air Force 1 Mid features a Sail leather upper with Obsidian denim overlays that land on the Swoosh, heel, ankle, eyestay, toecap and ankle strap. Making things even better is a classic gum outsole.
What are your thoughts on the denim Air Force 1? Are you feeling the gum bottom? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments and look for them to arrive at retailers this Spring.
An Official Look At The Nike LeBron 13 Low Metallic Silver
By SoleInsider
Last week we gave you an official look at the new Cool Grey colorway of the Nike LeBron 13 Low that features subtle black and gold detailing. However one of the first colorways that surfaced was this Metallic Silver option.
The Metallic Silver LeBron 13 was available at a select number of retailers already but it has now made its was to nike.com which means it’s that much easier to grab a pair. This colorway of the low-top version of LeBron James’ 13th signature sneaker comes with a White upper and Light Iron Ore and Metallic Silver accents throughout. If you’re interested in a pair the LeBron 13 Low Metallic Silver can be yours for a retail price of $150.
Nike has just released a new pack of Air Force 1s that consists of two different but similar colorways known as the Nike Air Force 1 High Oil Slick Pack.
Featuring two pairs of the iconic Air Force 1 High, one pair comes in a full black leather upper and the other comes in an all-white leather upper. The similarities come on the Swoosh, tongue tab, lace dubraes and heel tab where both pairs feature an oil slick/iridescent effect. Each pair is also finished off with tonal rubber midsoles and outsoles.
You can pick up both colorways from the Nike Air Force 1 High Oil Slick Pack at select Nike retailers now for $110 each.
Starting off with the Tiempo Vetta, the shoe features an exaggerated, fold-over tongue and molded heel counter and comes in an all-black colorway. Next is the Air Footscape Magista which features a Flyknit upper in blue and black with Freemotion tooling. The Mercurial Superfly features a Flyknit upper for a sock-like fit and a Nike Free outsole for flexible comfort and comes in a combination of black and grey and is finished off with a speckled midsole. Last but not least is the Hypervenom 2 which is also equipped with a Nike Free outsole and Flyknit upper.
The Nike F.C. 2016 Footwear Collection will become available beginning April 7th at select Nike retail stores, including Nike.com. The Nike Tiempo Vetta is already available.
Out of all four sneakers in this collection the only one I would actually wear would be the Free Mercurial Superfly. I like the Flyknit upper and speckled midsole detailing.
