Air Jordan 1 Royal And Shadow Releasing In 2017

If the last two years haven’t satisfied your hunger for original colorways of the Air Jordan 1, then get excited, because two more beloved original looks will be returning in 2017. It will be about the only two OG colorways we haven’t seen in 2015 and 2016 that are slated to drop in the new year: the always-coveted “Royal” and “Shadow” editions of the legendary silhouette.

Rumors of the two colorways coming back have been circulating for a while now, but their impending bringback is further confirmed by longtime breaker of Air Jordan news DJ Folk via his Twitter feed. Rumors also have it that both the Royal and Shadow colorways will return in high quality constructions on par with the recent “Banned” release of the black and red Air Jordan 1. As always, stick with Sneaker News for all late-breaking news on the anticipated colorways.

First Look At The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Pure White

AIR JORDAN 1 1 AIR JORDAN 1 2

The Jordan Brand news continues in full force today as we now take a look at another Jordan retro that is scheduled to release in the early portion of 2017.

Seen above for the first time is what’s currently being known as the Pure White colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG. This pristine colorway of the Air Jordan 1 features an all-white premium leather upper with micro-perforated detailing on the Swoosh and ankle. The laces, tongue, inner liner, leather embossed Nike Air logo tongue tag, and midsole have all been done in white as well, with the only contrast coming with the Black that is seen on the outsole.

You can expect this Air Jordan 1 to release some time in January of 2017. Stay tuned to Kicks On Fire for updates.

Author’s Take

I love the Air Jordan 1, but I don’t feel the need to have an all-white pair in my collection. Unless these look crazy good in person then I expect to pass on them.

The Month Of March Will Bring The Release Of The Air Jordan 6 Alternate

Fans of the Air Jordan 6 model will be happy to hear that Jordan Brand is planning on releasing brand new colorways of the model. One of those colorways happens to be the Air Jordan 6 Alternate you see above. Set to drop early next year, here are the latest images of the Alternate colorway of the Air Jordan 6.

With a color scheme very similar to the Jordan 6 Maroon that re-released last year, the Air Jordan 6 Alternate comes constructed out of a White micro-perforated leather paired up with a Pure Platinum nubuck. Creating sharp contrast on the upper is the Gym Red placed throughout. Below you will find a Gym Red/Maroon and White midsole sitting on top of an icy translucent outsole. Unique features on the shoe include the 1991 embroidered on the inner tongue to pay homage to the year the Jordan 6 was originally released. Said to be dropping on March 11th for $190, is this retro on your watch list?

Author’s Take

I like when the Jordan 6 takes advantage of the design of he upper and uses more of a color blocking approach. For that reason alone I like this better than the Jordan 6 Maroon. With that said, I still don’t see myself picking up a pair, I’d like more contrast done on the upper.

Air Jordan 8 Undefeated Sample Emerges

The Air Jordan 8 Retro is returning in 2017, and this olive-based colorway might be what’s in store. Resembling the flight-jacket colorway crated by UNDFTD a decade ago, this Air Jordan 8 look-see sample features an army olive base with hits of black and bright orange to achieve that iconic look. However, since these are a look-see sample, the release version might not be what you see here. We do know, however, that an Air Jordan 8 Retro is confirmed for January 21st, 2017, so stay tuned to our Jordan Release Dates page for the latest on what’s dropping next month.

Author’s Take

Out of all the colorways of the 31 that we’ve seen this is probably me least favorite. It’s just too bright for my liking.

The Last Retros Ill Ever Need: Air Jordan 11 Space Jam Unboxing (Video)

Air Jordan 11 Space Jam 11 Air Jordan 11 Space Jam 15 Air Jordan 11 Space Jam 12 Air Jordan 11 Space Jam 13 Air Jordan 11 Space Jam 14

In 2011, I lucked into a pair of Air Jordan 11 Concords before release. It was the symbolic beginning of my deep dive as a “journalist” into the world of sneakers and the culture that surrounds it. The “patent leather Jordans” were kicks that I always wanted but time and money (I refuse to pay resale except in very extreme circumstances) never intersected until I started writing about kicks for a living. In that time, I’ve been able to cross off a number of sneakers off my wish list, thanks to relationships I’ve made with people in the industry and brands bringing back the classics over and over again. Whether or not they intended this to be the case, between their remastering efforts, the price increases and the bump in production numbers, Jordan Brand has made it easier than ever to fill the holes in our collections.

I want to own all the colorways of Air Jordan 11. As it stands, my current count is pathetically low, as I’m missing everything from the DMPs to the Gift Of Flights. But there’s a difference between “want” and “need.” While it would be nice to have all of the 11s, there’s really only two that I have to own to fill out my checklist. One of them were the Concords. The other? The Space Jams. Now I have both.

And not only do I have a pair of Space Jams, it has the “45” in the back and is a recreation of the player exclusive that Michael Jordan when he unretired (the first time). People will debate until the end of time whether or not these are true Space Jams, and it is a debate that should be had so that people can truly have an understanding of the history of the shoe, but on a personal level? I don’t care anymore because I’m done with retros.

I have 3s with Nike Air on the back. I have the Infrared 6s that MJ wore to win his first championship. I have the Playoff 12s, aka the greatest Air Jordan ever made. I don’t need more. Yes, there will always be retros that I “want” and would be nice to have in stock either for personal reasons or coverage on the site, but in terms of feeling complete, I’m already there. And that’s all, folks.

Thanks to Champs Sports for sending this size 11.5 pair our way. Check out the unboxing video up top and for more information on this release, be sure to check out our Air Jordan 11 Space Jam launch page for all the latest news, including links to buy on Saturday.

A Possible First Look At The Air Jordan 8 Undefeated

AIR JORDAN 8 1 AIR JORDAN 8 2

As you may already know, Jordan Brand is expected to release an Undefeated colorway of the Air Jordan 8 similar to the Air Jordan 4 that currently resells for $20,000 and above.

Up above we take our first look at a Look See Sample of the Air Jordan 8 Undefeated scheduled to release in January or February of 2017. The shoe looks to feature an olive green suede upper with subtle hits of orange on the branding and outsole.

We’ll provide you with more updates as soon as they become available. In the meantime don’t don’t forget to click on and bookmark our Air Jordan 8 Undefeated launch page for the latest images, release information, and updates.

Author’s Take

If these are indeed an Undefeated collaboration and limited then they’ll fly off the shelves. But if they’re not then I expect them to sit.

First Look At The Air Jordan 31 Supernova

Russell Westbrook has been nothing short of a supernova this season. The man has 11 triple-doubles in 20 games and currently has a 6-game streak of the state line in which he’s proven that the Thunder can continue to win in the dreaded Western Conference even without a certain someone. He’s been putting up his magical numbers while wearing the Air Jordan 31 in a number of PE colorways, and we’re guessing that the coming Air Jordan 31 “Supernova” will be a favorite of his given the matching Thunder colorway.

The Air Jordan 31 Supernova is slated to release on December 24th for $185 USD and features a vibrant combination of Concord and Bright Mango throughout the woven Flyweave upper. The silhouette is inspired heavily by the Air Jordan 1, but here the Swoosh branding on the side panel isn’t that visible thanks to a black shade. Instead, the oversized Jumpman stitching is highlighted in Bright Mango while the medial side sports embossed Wings branding. A gradient midsole fades from metallic Concord to black while other unique details include a Volt inner cushioning system, and a unique ‘Supernova’ space-themed inner tongue tag logo. What do you think of the Jordan 31 Supernova? Check out more preview shots below and head over to our Jordan Release Dates page for more of the latest updates.

The Air Jordan 6 Alternate Is Releasing This March 2017

Jordan Brand’s mode of operation has been fairly simple to follow as of late. The Jumpman either gives us new ambitious and luxurious lifestyle creations atop their signature series or trace things back to the origins and break out unreleased sample colorways that could have been. This Air Jordan 6 “Alternate”, slated to release on March 11th, 2017, is the latter with an aesthetic that’s rather close to the recently released Air Jordan 6 “Maroon”.

No, there’s no ‘Nike Air’ branding on this Air Jordan 6 “Alternate”, but instead, a new micro-perforated leather contrasts a Pure Platinum nubuck while Gym Red accents and an icy outsole devoid of that added blue tint create an homage to Jordan Brand’s early 1991 treatments. There’s a certain Hare-like appearance on this model that didn’t come until the next signature installment. 1991 is even stitched onto the inner tongue lining in an effort to pay homage to the year this model originally released.

What do you think of the Air Jordan 6 Alternate? Check out more photos below and head over to our Jordan Release Dates page for an updated look at the coming retro catalog.

Even The Jordan Melo M13 Is Releasing In Red October

What’s the deal with this Red October renaissance all of a sudden? In the past week alone we’ve seen Nike Sportswear get in on the action with a Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Red October” and Jordan Brand is planning on offering up an Air Jordan 12 “Red October” come 2017. The days of all-red sneakers seemed to be dying down, only for the trend to resurface for the coming New Year. Now Jordan Brand is back with Carmelo Anthony’s latest and greatest – the Jordan Melo M13 – in the coveted shade of all-red-everything.

The Jordan Melo M13 is by far the most ambitious Melo signature in quite some time. Just by looking at the shoe you can see the jarring details that went into creating the pair, from the rubberized synthetic overlays that look like jagged bird feathers to the matching midsole and contrasting mesh medial sides. It’s an aggressive take that’s sure to polarize and this Jordan Melo M13 Red October should only help add attention to Carmelo’s 13th signature with the brand. What do you think of the look? Check out a full view below and we’ll keep you updated on a Release Date right here on Sneaker News.

Another Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Is Releasing Soon

Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 1 celebration has given us a number of awesome OG retros throughout the year, and you can only expect more heat from the brand come 2017. Are we going to get the Royal 1s? How about some more of those Metallic colorways featuring a crisp white upper? The brand isn’t above experimentation either, as we’ve seen “Rare Air” pairs ditch the coveted Wings branding, Pinnacle 1s that nod to the shoe’s bonafide lifestyle tendencies and so much more. Today we get a look at the Air Jordan 1 “Pure White”, a simple takedown of the 1985 classic featuring new micro-perforated panels on the ankle, Swoosh, and toebox for a little added texture.

The Air Jordan 1 “Pure White” even boasts an updated premium leather embossed ‘Nike Air’ tongue tag and a contrasting black outsole so you won’t have to worry about scrubbing the bottom of this shoe to keep it looking clean. The Air Jordan 4 Black Cement/BRED Is Rumored To Return In 2017

Air Jordan 4 1 Air Jordan 4 Air Jordan 4 2 Air Jordan 4 3

Last offered in 2012, the classic Nike Air Jordan 4 Black Cement/BRED is reportedly making a return in 2017 according to multiple sources.

A colorway that was initially introduced back in 1989, the silhouette is also correlated with one of MJ’s career defining moments, as he hit “The Shot” over Craig Ehlo, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the first round of the 1989 Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Simply staying true to its iconic palette — black, cement grey, and fire red — the sneaker will bear a remastered nubuck upper with the distinctive cement grey detailing and fire red accents throughout. In addition, the classic Nike Air branding will be applied on the heels and insoles to cap off the OG vibe.

According to @DJFolk, this pair is slated to debut sometime in 2017, with the retail price suggested at $220.

Stay tuned to KicksOnFire for further updates.

Capping off the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Space Jam, which recently occurred on November 15, will be the return of this iconic Air Jordan 11.

Although not pictured, this 2016 edition comes in a special Looney Tunes-themed box with cartoon graphics to further commemorate the iconic movie.

With the Air Jordan 1 Low OG Shadow offered last year, its original counterpart, which first debuted in 1985, is now scheduled for Jordan Brand’s standout 2017 lineup, according to multiple sources.

Essentially staying true to classic aesthetic, the basketball sneaker is treated in an understated palette with black and soft grey tones covering its entire leather composition. The shadow theme is further detailed with the “Nike Air” logo across its tongue and without the Jumpman logo on the heel. Finally, a crisp white midsole unit and black outsole solidifies its overall build.
