More adidas Ultra Boosts With Argyle Are On The Way

While a collaboration with Belgian fashion designer, Kris Van Assche, last summer produced two variations, the famous Scottish pattern made of diamonds is set to be offered on the adidas Ultra Boost once again.

Showcased above consists of sample colorways, with one finished in classic shades of black, white and grey, while the other is rendered in blue, red and grey. The defining theme is essentially prominent on its intricately knitted upper. Additionally, another blue/red/grey variation is presented, although this time sporting a black sole unit.

Other notable details include its signature three-stripe cage system on the side panels that also holds its laces intact, in addition to TPU heel overlays that ensures superb reinforcement. More branding can also be seen on the tongue tab, behind the tongue and across its rear.

A release date for each pair is still undetermined, but check in to KicksOnFire for continuous updates.

Author’s Take

I’m a fan of the silhouette, but not the motif. Out of the three, I do like the pair with blacked-out soles. It looks great with the colorway.

First Look At The adidas Crazylight Boost 2016

Can the momentum from both adidas Originals and the three stripe’s running imprint carry over to adidas Hoops for 2016? The adidas Crazylight Boost 2016 looks like it could very well be the model to push adidas’ basketball category into the future and gain some ground on industry-leading Nike and upstart Under Armour throughout the next year. There doesn’t seem to be a readily apparent plan for the three stripe’s basketball brand, as James Harden is waiting on a signature model after signing a $200 million deal and John Wall has bolted after contract disputes. In fact, the only constant over the past few seasons has been the Crazylight series, and the Boost-wielding silhouette continues to get better with each new iteration. A full-length Boost bottom returns with a new Tubular-esque enclosure for added support and style. The woven upper even sports a lifestyle ready design that could venture off the court. Check out more preview shots below.

A Rare Look At The adidas Shoe Kanye West Designed A Decade Ago

It took nearly a decade for adidas to convince Kanye West to return to the fold and finally design that collaborative sneaker under the adidas Originals imprint as initially planned. That’s right. Before any of Kanye’s designs with Nike, Yeezy was supposed to design a tennis shoe with the three stripe’s lifestyle imprint. Ben Pruess, once the global director of adidas Originals, shared a rare glimpse at what Kanye was cooking up with adidas dating back to 2006 on his Instagram. What resulted from the brief collaborative process was a reworked adidas Rod Laver Vintage tennis shoe complete with the early-era College Dropout bear logo on the tongue. Check out a better look at this ultra-rare sample below and let us know if you’re feeling this design, or would prefer today’s adidas Yeezy pairs by taking your thoughts to the comments section.

The adidas Originals Stan Smith is known for being a shoe that is always changing time after time after time. The latest version looks to be ideal for the Spring/Summer season. With perforations utilized all over the upper, let’s take a look at the newest take on the Stan Smith.

The perforated versions of the Stan Smith are constructed out of leather uppers. Coming in either all-white or all-black uppers, both pairs are accompanied by the off-white midsoles. Adding some color to the shoe are the multicolor striped heel detailing. Embossed adidas branding appears on the heel and tongue. Tonal laces tie up the look of the shoe. Available internationally ($112), expect these to arrive in the states sooner rather than later.

Flying under the radar is the adidas ClimaCool Sonic Solar Red. People probably overlook the shoe because it doesn’t come with Boot or Primeknit, but that doesn’t mean the model is a bad shoe. Not at all. Let’s take a closer look.

Designed to help you keep cool during the hot weather, the shoe comes built with a Bounce cushioning system that’s just a level under the Boost technology when it comes to cushioning and energy. The shoe comes constructed out of a breathable mesh upper paired up with the Three Stripes overlays caging system. The slip-on upper also come with a bolstered heel that provides additional comfort and support. The Solar Red hits are found on the heel tab and insoles. Available now, pick up your very own pair for $100.

Author’s Take

Don’t knock them till you try them. No Boost or Primeknit doesn’t mean it’s a bad shoe. Price is reasonable too.

Hidden Gems: A 10-Year Old Kanye West x adidas Collaboration Sample

Kanye West x Adidas 1 Kanye West x Adidas 2 Kanye West x Adidas 3

A little over a year ago, Kanye West and adidas got together to release the adidas Yeezy Boost 750. Fun fact about this collaboration: This was not the first time that Kanye West and adidas linked up to work on a sneaker. Turns out that they created a shoe way before the 750, back in 2006. Today we get our first look at the first ever Kanye West x adidas sneaker.

As noted above, West designed a shoe for adidas back in 2006. This shoe recently stepped into the spotlight when a former adidas employee who took part in the collaborative project felt it was only right to show the world a shoe that very few people know about. Ben Pruess, former global director of adidas Originals and now a senior VP at Under Armour, shows us the shoe which is an adidas Rod Laver Vintage model recreated by Mr. West. As you can see by the images above, new features on the shoe include the Kanye West bear logo placed on the tongue as well as on the midsole under the heel. A two-toned leather motif creates the look of the upper, while perforation accents appear everywhere on the shoe except the toebox. The shoe also shows a “SAMPLE” text on the inside, giving us further proof as to why these never hit retailers. No word on how rare these sneakers are, but I’m willing to be not many people have these in their collection.

A Better Look At The adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit

adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit 1 adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit 2 adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit 3 adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit 4 adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit 5 adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit 6

Slowly but surely, adidas is utilizing Primeknit uppers on a lot of their silhouettes. The latest model to get the Primeknit treatment also happens to be a model that was created not too long ago. Today we get a better look at the adidas Originals Tubular Nova Primeknit.

Just like you’d expect, the Primeknit version of the Tubular Nova comes with the same shape just built with a different construction. A two-toned knit construction takes the place of the neoprene and suede we’re used to seeing on the shoe. Another new feature on the shoe comes in the form of a elasticized collar. The rest of the shoe still remains true to form as the heel wrap, lacing overlay and Tubular sole unit still make an appearance. Available now internationally, it’s only a matter of time before these arrive stateside.

Primeknit is like bacon, it makes everything better. The Nova was cool before, but not it’s even cooler!

Our First Look At The Raf Simons x adidas Originals Stan Smith Metallic Silver

adidas by Raf Simons Stan Smith 1 adidas by Raf Simons Stan Smith 2 adidas by Raf Simons Stan Smith 3

We’ve already gone over the Metallic Copper version, now we get to lay our eyes on the Raf Simons x adidas Originals Stan Smith Metallic Silver. If you’re looking for a sneaker with some added “oomph” to it, I’d take a good look at these.

The latest Raf Simons x adidas collaboration has the Stan Smith dressed in a premium leather upper. The premium leather upper is covered in a metallic silver motif to give the shoe its bold appearance. Adding the Raf Simons touch to the shoe is the “R” perforated branding placed on the side panels of the shoe. Additional Raf Simons branding is spotted on the side of the heel, while your traditional Stan Smith branding is still seen on the tongue and heel. A leather lining, tonal laces and eyelets and white midsole complete the look of the shoe. Available at select retailers, are you willing to drop $400 on the bad boys?

Author’s Take

It’s cool, but I’ve never been one to jump on the hype train when it comes to Stan Smith collabs. For that reason, I won’t even pay a fraction of what the retail price is.

Nick Young Talks About Kobe Throwing His adidas Shoes In The Trash

Swaggy P took a Swaggy L on Thursday when it was discovered that Kobe Bryant, in classic Mamba style, chucked Nick Young’s adidas shoes in the trash and told him to get a pair of Nikes if he wanted a coveted autograph. Many thought the story was fabricated based on loose events of all the energy going on during Mamba Day post-game, but you can hear what happened directly from Young himself in this end-of-season exit interview with the press. Young confirms that Kobe chucked his shoes in the trash, but showed incredible grace by signing a pair of Nikes for him taking a photo with his son. Young, of course, is now an endorsed adidas athlete, but he was one of the most avid users of Nike Kobes during his sneaker “free agency”. Check out the video below and fast forward to the 3:45 mark to hear Young speak.

Author’s Take

It’s a shame that this colorway won’t be hitting retailers. I’m sure that many fans of the D Lillard 2 would have liked to own this pair.

First Look At The adidas NMD XR1!

Heads up NMD fans, you’re soon going to have new options to choose from. adidas is on the brink on releasing a brand new version of the adidas NMD. The major difference on this new model is the fact that the shoe adds a caging system to the upper. Let’s get a first look at the adidas NMD XR1.

Set to release in July, the XR1 features the aforementioned perforated caging system placed on the side panels of the shoes. The upper’s construction appears to remain the same, but the new cage is more than enough to give the shoe a completely different look. The first colorway being displayed comes in a Triple White (all-white) aesthetic, but you can also be sure to expect a plethora of colorway options to choose from once the shoes begins to drop in July. Question.Do you like the NMD with or without a cage? Let us know in the comments below.

via: Modern Notoriety

Author’s Take

I think I prefer the NMD with a cage. I also think a lot of people will be agreeing with me. I can’t wait for these to begin to drop in July.

Y-3 Gets Its Hands On The adidas Ultra Boost

adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 1 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 2 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 3 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 4 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 5 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 6 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 7 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 8 adidas Ultra Boost Y-3 9

Have you ever wondered what an adidas Ultra Boost would look like if it were given the Y-3 treatment? You no longer have to as that concept has recently become a reality. Let’s take a look at what’s being called the Y-3 adidas Ultra Boost.

Right off the bat you could see that the main difference in this Ultra Boost is the fact that it comes built in a high-top fashion. Ditching the majority of the Primeknit construction, the shoe is given a new look with the usage of a breathable synthetic upper.  The shoe becomes a high-top with the help of a TechFit sock placed on the shoe. The heel counter is removed from the shoe, but a similar feature is placed on the rear portion of the side panels. A new lacing system that extends all the way to the TechFit sock is also put in place, while different types of eyelets are placed on the shoe as well. An all-black upper contrasts very nicely with the all-white Boost sole unit. The shoe recently dropped for $389. Are you looking to pick up a pair? Let us know in the comments below.

via: END Clothing

Author’s Take

It looks clean, I’m just still on the fence regarding the removal of the Primeknit construction. I guess if they would have left it on, the shoe would not be much of a change compared to the original Ultra Boost. Nonetheless, it’s pretty dope.
