Kevin Durant Spotted Wearing A New Colorway Of The Nike KD 8 Elite

Nike KD 8 Elite 1 Nike KD 8 Elite 2

Nike officially unveiled the Nike KD 8 Elite about two weeks ago but we still haven’t seen Kevin Durant lace them up on the court. Since the shoe doesn’t officially release until April that probably means that Nike may still be trying to milk the original KD 8.

Durant was recently spotted wearing the KD 8 Elite for the first time but not during a game, during practice. The color he was wearing is dressed in a full orange upper with blue detailing on the Nike Swoosh branding. Maybe a road colorway?

There is no word on whether or not these will release down the line but we’ll keep you updated with the latest here at Kicks On Fire.

Kevin Durants Nike KD 8 Elite Creamsicle

The perfect sneaker for those who forget their socks at home aka the Nike KD 8 Elite is launching in just a few weeks, but Kevin Durant is already sporting them in a colorway that probably won’t see the light of day at retail. The annual “Creamsicle” look is back on the KD 8 Elite and on the feet of the man himself, who was spotted sporting the innovative sneaker during a shoot-around today. The big question remains – will the KD 8 Elite be featured in the Finals? If so, the OKC Thunder need to blast through the Clippers, Spurs, and Warriors. We can’t wait for the Playoffs to kick off, so stay tuned to Sneaker News to see what dope kicks the big brands have in store for their star players.

Our First Look At The Nike Air Max Day HTM

Air Max Day is on March 26th. Last year Nike gave us the one before the 1. I’m talking about the Nike Air Max Zero. This year they look to impress us once again by giving us something we’ve never seen before. Today we take a look at what we’re currently calling the Nike Air Max Day HTM.

The shoe you see above is said to be the HTM (Hiroshi, Tinker, Mark) release for Air Max Day. Notable features on the shoe include the 360 Air Max sole with the wording on the rear end of it. The shoe also appears to have an upper construction that looks very much like the Nike Roshe LD 1000 SP. Did you also take note of the HTM branding on the bubble tag? This version of the shoe comes in a navy blue nylon upper contrasted by the white accents placed on the Nike Swoosh, heel tab and lining of the shoe. The 360 Air Max comes with black piping right above the smoky/clear sole unit. No word yet on whether this is a limited/exclusive/friends and family release, but as soon as we find out more information about this potential release we will be sure to let you know.

Interesting. I’ll reserve my judgement until I get more information on the shoe.

Unfortunately I missed out on watching Penny play during his prime and I only got to see him in his post-Magic days. The Air Penny 2 is one of the better non-Jordan sneakers from the 90?s and this Miami Heat colorway is very nice.

Nike took the time today to unveil their 2016 N7 collection. Calling it the “Move Your Generation” Collection, this year’s N7 collection exemplifies the can-do spirit of athletes and Nike N7 ambassadors Lyle Thompson, a lacrosse player and Iroquois Confederacy Ambassador, and Jude Schimmel, a basketball player from Umatilla Tribes. The collection draws inspiration from the contemporary art work of activist Bunky Echo-Hawk, a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma and Yakama Nation of Washington.

Included in this year’s collection is a Nike N7 Splash Tee for men, a Nike N7 Splash Tank for women, a Nike N7 Hybrid Jacket?, a Nike N7 Air Max Tavas and a Nike N7 Juvenate, all which feature bright colors and geometric shapes that signify the arrival of Spring.

The 2016 Nike N7 Spring Collection will be available March 19 at Nike.com and select retailers.

Author’s Take

It’s always fascinating what or who the inspiration is behind ever year’s Nike N7 Collection. This year Nike decided to include two silhouettes that get overlooked by many people but I feel that they did a great job with the colors and designs.

I’m not sure if this is a women’s pack, but I would have no problem wearing the Light Bone colorway from this Easter Pack. The Spring is the perfect time to bring back the Huaraches so I expect this pack to attract lots of attention.

Nike Has A New Air Force 1 For Women Called The Upstep

Bruce Kilgore’s classic Nike Air Force 1 has seen more modern updates than nearly every Nike Sportswear sneaker, and now the iconic model is back with one more exclusively for women. Known as the Nike Air Force 1 Upstep BR, the summer-ready tooling features a seamless breathable mesh construction in two monochromatic options of white or black. The bolstered, fuse-like construction adds support while allowing for the material to add ventilation to keep feet cool during the hottest months. While these newer models usually come equipped with an Ultra slimmed down outsole for a lighter ride, that doesn’t seem to be the case here. Are you a fan of the Nike Air Force 1 Upstep? Check out more photos below and know that international retailers like Asphalt Gold have this pair pinpointed for an end of March release.

Nike Continues With The Multi-Color Theme With The Flyknit Air Max

The Nike Flyknit Air Max has done a marvelous job combining two of Nike’s greatest technological advancements from completely different eras. There’s the almost three-decade-old Air Max bottom, as the visible air unit is expanded to the entirety of the base with a 360 degree air bag. The translucent finish has always made that feature all the more impressive and head-turning, and when paired with the simplicity of an all-woven Flyknit upper, the Flyknit Air Max manages to captivate both a newer and old crowd alike. Today we get a preview of two upcoming women’s Multi-Color options. While the signature orange and volt Multi look is skipped over, here combinations of blue, teal, and purple create a pastel finish perfect for the upcoming change of season. Expect each women’s exclusive colorway to hit retailers this Spring 2016. More photos below.

The Many Sides To The Should The Nike Air Max 1 Safari Come Back Argument

On March 14, the Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 Safari returns, kind of. A remixed remake of one of the most beloved colorways of the Air Max 1 and a surefire hall of fame sneaker if there was such a thing, this release has a lot of people up in arms for all sorts of different reasons. There are those who are happy to own a pair of the kicks even in an altered form, while there are those who are disappointed in Nike’s decision to retro them especially if they’re not going to copy the blueprint of the original. Let’s break down the many sides just to see where they’re coming from and so you can figure out where you fit in this decagon-shaped argument.

The Purist

Cheng Ortaleza
Cheng Ortaleza

This sneakerhead owns a pair of the 2002 original, maybe tried it on once and is still waiting for the “right time” to “undeadstock” them. They know the history of Nike and Air Max so they understand how amazing this pair is the grand scheme of things. It was a moment in time and while they see the perspective of those who would want to to see this release once more, they feel it’s better to be left in the past. If anything, they think the remixing of the shoe is actually bastardizing its legacy.

The Curmudgeon

10 Sides - Nike Air Max 1 Safari CurmudegonLike The Purist, The Curmudgeon owns a pair of the Safari Air Max, but they have worn it many times through the years. These champs love nothing more than to rub it in your face that they have it and you don’t and they have several hashtags to really drive that point home. They’re the type who loves to whine and moan on social media that Nike is ruining their youth by bringing back the shoe in any shape or form and they are bastardizing its legacy. But unlike The Purist, The Curmudgeon just sounds so annoying and pathetic that nobody cares what they think other than kids who sucking up to them in the hopes of getting a free pair or a shout-out.

The Last Call At 3am Sneakerhead

Nike
Nike

Sadderday is the day this sneakerhead looks forward to the most because they can feel alive right before they miss out on another release. This actually covers a wide array of sneakerheads of all ages because they lived through the first release and were unable to score a pair (they missed out, sneakers weren’t a priority back then, etc.). For them, it’s a little bittersweet that it’s not a 1:1 copy of the original, but they will take what they can at this point. Who cares if it’s a little fuzzy, right?

The Old Reseller

The Shoe Game
The Shoe Game

They hate that the shoe is coming back because they’re afraid that their original pair won’t sell for as much now that there is a “inferior” but more widely available version out there. What they fail to realize is that because it is not completely identical to the original, there will be an increase in demand for what they have because people want to be about that OG life.

The Young Reseller

Nike
Nike

Poor kid thinks they’re going to make bread of this release. While that might be true right at launch, there will be plenty of people who feel this does not compare to the original and there will be a divide between those who are willing to settle for the 2016 issue and those that want the 2002 original still, with the majority of the money going to the latter. It’s not like trying to resell a general release retro Jordan bad, but depending on how many pairs Nike makes of these, it won’t be the retirement fund some might think this new release has the potential to become.

The Young Stephen Curry Fans

Not to sound like Oscar Robertson here, but these kids just don’t understand and they think Under Armour is the greatest thing ever. Pass… Speaking of pass, did you see that Vine of Steph (the latest latest one)? Holy sh…

The Casual Sneakerhead

Gooey Wong
Casual Sneakerhead doesn’t know the difference (Gooey Wong)

They don’t know a thing about the history of the original Atmos release. Assuming Nike makes enough pairs, The Casual Sneakerhead might see them just laying around on a store shelf. They might think about it, gloss it over, some nerd might explain to them why that shoe is a big deal but they’ll ultimately pass. Why? Because to Casual Sneakerhead and most people it looks like a something out of an antique furniture store, which makes sense considering the history of the Safari motif.

The Kicks On Fire Editor-In-Chief

Hype DC
Hype DC

I already said my peace a few weeks ago when we thought the shoe was going to originally drop, so….

I?m all for retros of classic Air Max and Nike SB Dunks from the past. I?m not a fan of penalizing those who had misfortune of being born later missing out on kicks like these. However, these kicks strike a different chord than OG Air Jordans in that their quirkiness should remain just that; so the original designs need to stay in the past and remixes need to be different enough so that those who had them when they first came out can rest easy knowing what they have is still the ?best? or at least ?first?. Meanwhile, Nike needs to also concentrate on making today?s kicks the new classics so that this generation has something to brag about too.

Nike Free Mercurial Superfly Racer Blue is set to be the latest colorway that Nike plans on releasing in the near future. This new colorway on the shoe comes dressed in a Black and Racer Blue Flyknit construction. The sock-like fit and integrated ankle cuff helps give the shoe its distinct look. Completing the construction of the shoe is the Nike Free tooling found on the white speckled sole unit giving the shoe a bold and innovative look. Additional features on the shoe include the Metallic Silver Nike Swoosh branding on the forefoot, the black laces and the Nike Swoosh branding on the ankle cuff. No release date yet but expect them to retail at $200 once they end up releasing. Thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.

Author’s Take

I’ve yet to try on a pair only because the sock-like ankle cuff scares me a bit. It’s a look I’m not used to but I may very well like it. Another reason I’m not to crazy about the shoe is because I really don’t mess with Nike’s Free tooling like that.
