The Nike KD Trey 5 IV Is Available Now

Kevin Durant‘s offseason signing with the Golden State Warriors reads like Drake’s opening on Big Rings from What A Time To Be Alive. And while the Dubs are the undoubted favorites to take home some very big rings by next season’s end, the team still has to get acclimated through 82 regular season games. What better way to do it than by releasing a number of new team-centric colorways of Durant’s team shoe, the Nike KD Trey 5 IV?

The KD Trey 5 IV is everything KD’s signature model is not. Instead of a full-length Zoom Air cushioning system, the forefoot gets the responsive boost while a general phylon midsole offers a lightweight alternative. There’s no Flyknit here either. Instead, a mesh upper complete with optimal ventilation adds a breathable mid-top construction. Standard team-issued colorways of Game Royal, University Red, White, and Black are all available today starting at $115 USD. Check out a better preview below and head over to Nike.com to grab your pair today.

Nike Honors 1996 Womens Basketball Team With Special Hyperdunk 2016 Release

The men’s team gets all the glory, but the women’s USA Basketball team has actually been one of the most dominant Olympics teams?in any sport?for year’s now. How dominant? They haven’t lost a single game in the Olympic tournaments since before the 1996 team was assembled. That 1996 team was perhaps the most legendary of them all, and the equivalent of the 1992 men’s Dream Team when it come’s to women’s hoops. The squad with women’s basketball royalty like Sheryl Swoopes, Dawn Staley, Lisa Lesley, and Rebecca Lobo is honored by Nike Basketball twenty years later with a special edition of the Hyperdunk 2016 Low, featuring a patriotic red, white, and blue colorway with a stylized flag tie-dye graphic. Celebrate the dominance of women’s basketball in the USA with your own pair, available August 20th at select Nike retailers and the Nike SNKRS app.

Joining the Maroon colorway that we recently showcased, there is also a black version of the new Nike Air Tech Challenge 2.

Inspired by Brogue styling that we typically see on dress shoes, this Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 comes equipped with a full suede upper done in black with Vachetta Tan leather detailing on the heels which have been hit with perforated accents. Finishing details include a white midsole and rubber outsole.

Are you a bigger fan of the Night Maroon or Black colorway? Let us know in the comments below and look for both pairs to arrive at stateside retailers in the near future.

Author’s Take

The combination of the suede upper and vachetta tan detailing give the Air Tech Challenge 2 a new lifestyle look. I like it.

Nike Releases The Kyrie 2 School Bus

Opposing guards can’t even take getting schooled by Kyrie Irving personally anymore, it’s just what the man does. Kyrie has some of the best handles the game has ever seen, and at 24 years young he still has time to get even better at it. That’s a scary thought. Nike Basketball is referencing both the back to school season and Kyrie’s unique ability to string the ball on an invisible yo-yo with the Nike Kyrie 2 “School Bus”, out today in youth sizes only.

The vibrantly colored University Gold upper adds a contrasting black midfoot strap to match the Kyrie 2 School Bus lines on the heel. A new stop sign logo reads ‘Kyrie’ on the tongue while black speckles land on the midsole for added depth. Grab this kid’s exclusive Kyrie 2 today from Nike.com.

Nike has just released a new colorway of the Nike Kyrie 2 exclusively for the grade school crowd.

Known as the School Bus colorway, this eye-catching Kyrie 2 features a bright University Gold mesh upper along with Black, White, and University Red accents. Notable details include a speckled midsole, ?SCHOOL BUS? written on the heel, and a Kyrie stop sign on the tongue. If anyone in the GS category is interested in picking up a pair you can do so now directly from nike.com for $100.

Author’s Take

The stop sign on the tongue and the school bus writing on the heel make it look too much like a kids release. Take those two tings off and this definitely would have been a hit for adults.

Nike Air Tech Challenge II Brogue Pack

Andre Agassi’s signature on-court style was one of the most unique tennis games at the professional level. Pair that with his crazy hair, denim Nike commissioned get-ups and his flashy signature silhouettes, and his aesthetic was as legendary as his game. The Nike Air Tech Challenge II may not have gotten this Brogue look until decades after he retired, but we wouldn’t have put it past Nike to release an in-game variety featuring the dress shoe-like ensemble back in the 90s.

We’ve seen the Air Tech Challenge II get some premium treatments in the past for Nike’s Grand Slam celebrations but they’ve since toned down the retro with premium suede and micro-perforated leather. Two suede renditions in either Black or Night Maroon showcase this pair’s crossover appeal as a Vachetta Tan leather heel pairs ornamental perforated patterns with a matching ankle collar. A clean white midsole/outsole combination adds the perfect finish.

Be sure to check out more detailed shots below and know that international spots like Titolo have these dress shoe-inspired Agassi retros for sale today.

Team USA Kicks On Fire: The Nike KD 9, Nike Kyrie 2, Air Jordan XXX1 Survive Group Play

Group play for Team USA Basketball has concluded and it looks like the victory lap that many anticipated has hit a few snags along the way. After a dominant exhibition season and a pair of easy wins to start the tournament, USA barely squeaked out wins against Australia, Serbia and France. While they are still undefeated heading into the knockout rounds, all the talk about international basketball taking a step back these past few years sounds a little haphazard now.

Since we are still a sneaker blog based in America (and because the Philippines didn’t even make it to Rio), we’ll be rooting for KD, ‘Melo, Uncle Drew, Boogie and the rest to take home the gold this week. Here’s a look back at the kicks they’ve worn so far including some new colorways of the Nike KD 9, Nike Kyrie 2, Air Jordan XXX1 and many more. Hopefully someone gets real bold and break out some gold (probably Draymond Green) for the medal rounds.

The Nike Talaria Is Releasing In Black And Brown

Nike Sportswear revived those old school 90s telephone ads when re-introducing the retro Nike Zoom Talaria to the world. The cult-classic silhouette featured a premium ride thanks to Zoom technology and was at the top of plenty of retro running collector’s lists given how difficult the 1997 model was to find before a re-release happened this past March. Now after initial original colorways have hit retailers, NSW is getting creative with a number of lifestyle-ready looks.

The Nike Talaria is back in a new black and brown look perfect for the coming Fall 2016 season. The casual take features a premium black leather construction with brown piping throughout. But there’s more – that same brown shade doubles as a reflective 3M material when the light hits for a head-turning look perfect for nighttime running. Also included is premium metallic gold speckling on the outsole unit that perfectly compliments the casual brown throughout. No word yet on a release date, but check out more official Nike photos after the break and stay tuned for more right here on Sneaker News.
