The Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-Cool Express Sterling Has A Release Date
Last week we received our first good look at Ronnie Fieg’s latest upcoming collaboration with Asics. Today Ronnie announced that the shoes will be releasing one week from today.
The Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-Cool Express Sterling will be releasing on March 4th in unisex sizing according to Ronnie Fieg. This release includes premium materials including suede and mesh with soft and subtle tones on the upper. A soft grey can be seen dominating most of the shoe while cream, pink and blue accents also make an appearance.
Look for the Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-Cool Express Sterling to release on March 4th and stay tuned to Kicks On Fire for more details soon.
The Air Jordan 12 French Blue may not be an OG colorway, but many adore it more than classic iterations of the silhouette. Last seen in 2004, the popular finish is finally scheduled to receive its first retro treatment after twelve years, as the model celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2016.
Maintaining its distinctive palette overall, the silhouette is comprised of White tumbled leather, while French Blue overlays are prominent on its forefoot, outsole unit and rear portion. Metallic Silver accents provided by the top eyelets, Black Jumpman branding on the tongue and subtle Grey panels on the sides consist as notable contrasting elements.
Renz Ofiaza, News: One of my favorite colorways on the silhouette, aside from the Red/White iteration. There?s no doubt that these will be sought after heavily. It?s going to be a pair that I’ll consider purchasing for 2016.
Juan Carrillo, News: I?m not a huge fan of the 12s, but I?m real happy to see this colorway making a comeback after all these years. The white and blue work great on this shoe, which is what this may have to be my first 12 purchase, ever.
Under Armour To Launch A New Basketball Silhouette Next Week
Under Armour will be launching a new silhouette on March 1st known as the Under Armour Fire Shot. The new basketball sneaker was worn by Denver Nuggets Rookie point guard and Under Armour athlete Emmanuel Mudiay during All Star Weekend in Toronto.
The UA Fire Shot features dynamic court feel and control and features a high-traction outsole is fused with a responsive Micro Gmidsole, cutting away extra weight and bringing you closer to the court. We also see Under Armour?s signature CompFitcollar on the ankle, and a molded, sculpted, EVA rubber midsole that delivers unmatched lightweight responsiveness that turns cushioned landings into explosive takeoffs.
You can look for the Under Armour Fire Shot to launch on underarmour.com on March 1st in four different colorways for $120.
I think the only reason that people buy Under Armour basketball sneakers (Curry One and Two) is because Stephen Curry is attached to them. The design on this new Fire Shot isn’t too bad but I think the $120 is higher than most people are willing to pay.
Nike Completes The Yeezy Trio With The Foamposite Pro
We knew Nike was going to milk as much as they could out of those groundbreaking Yeezy 2 colorways from 2012 and 2014. Nike first released the “Solar Red” version of the Foamposites a couple of years ago and the shoes quickly became one of the top Retro releases of the year. The all-red pair met equal fanfare, so the accepted trend is that the upcoming “Pure Platinum” version will be sought after as well once the shoes officially hit stores on 3/12/16. We know you can’t help but complete the set, right? Get all three Yeezy Foamposite colorways including the upcoming “Pure Platinum” pair right now directly from Stadium Goods.
Snoop Dogg Gives Rich Eisen 2016 adizero 5-Star 40 Cleats For The 40-Yard Dash (Video)
The annual NFL Scouting Combine is taking place this week where hopeful NFL draft picks are showing potential coaches, general managers and owners what they’re made out of. Perhaps the most exciting competition of all is the 40-yard dash. This year adidas is offering $1,000,000 to anyone that can break the record which was set 8 years ago by Chris Johnson with a time of 4.24 seconds.
Sports television analyst Rich Eisen has made it a tradition for 11 years now, going on 12, to close out the NFL Scouting Combine by running the 40-yard dash in a full business suit. This year he’ll be running in some special adidas cleats that were given to him by Snoop Dogg earlier this week. In the video above you can see Snoop gift Eisen with the 2016 adizero 5-Star 40 cleats that is lightweight and aerodynamic while also coming with photo-realistic, high-definition, 3-D fire graphics. The cleat was created specifically for the 40-yard dash and weighs only 4.9 ounces, making it the lightest cleat in the game.
Last year Heisen ran a 6.10. Do you think the 2016 adizero 5-Star 40 cleats will help him improve his time this year?
Sneakers In 4K: adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Pirate Black
LeBron James debuted the LeBron 13 Low on-feet during the All-Star Weekend in a black/red colorway – a traditional color-combo that has been a staple of LeBrons for years. Today, we get a look at a white/silver version, and it is here that we get to examine the shoe a bit closer. Based on these newly surfaced photos, Max Air is back on the heel, while a boot-like structure provides a snug fit – although those who find the LeBron 12 and the current 13 model to be a bit too roomy might not enjoy the fit on the LeBron 13 Low. The silhouette itself is likely to debut later this month and could be part of the Easter Pack, but you’ll find this white/silver pair in April. Check out a closer shot below.
Nike Air Foamposite One Fruity Pebbles Complete Release Info
The folks over at Post Cereals have to be happy that Nike Basketball continues to show their morning treat some unofficial love. It all started with LeBron’s PE over a decade ago, and then the multi-colored cereal print landed on the LeBron 12 GS and in slightly different way on the Nike Lil Posite last year. With the success of the print for kids and ladies alike, this weekend we’ll see the graphic return once again atop a GS-exclusive Nike Air Foamposite One, but with a matte blank upper finish. Will you be grabbing a pair this weekend? Check out more photos below and look for your size right now on eBay.
Under Armour looks to gain further ground in the performance basketball footwear market with their impressive new model, the Fire Shot. Shots will definitely be fired on the court with this new sneaker featuring a great blend of performance and style. The Fire Shot is designed with a CompFit collar that shrouds the ankle area with lightweight support and a breathable mesh construction up top, while UA’s Micro G foam cushions the midsole above the high-traction outsole. The Fire Shot debuts in the four colorways seen here on March 1st at UA.com and select Under Armour retailers.
Steph Curry Under Armour Sneaker Card Sells For Over $4,000
Steph Curry has taken the NBA by storm over the last two seasons, firmly grasping the role as the league’s best player on perhaps the best team in NBA history. It’s no surprise that anything tied to the defending league MVP is on the rise as well; his signature shoes with the Under Armour brand continue to be top sellers, while his memorabilia (autographed items, rookie trading cards) continue to be hot tickets in the world of collectibles. We stumbled upon this amazing eBay listing for a 1-of-1 trading card by Panini, which features an actual piece of a pair of Under Armour shoes (likely the Spawn Anatomix he wore before the Curry One debuted). Just how coveted was this piece of Steph Curry goods? The card sold for over $4,000, which is insanely high in today’s trading card market. Peep the eBay listing from PWCC here.
After the breakthrough hit that was the Air Jordan 11, arguably the most famous sneaker ever made, the Air Jordan 12 had a lot to live up to. It’s a Jordan of many firsts, including the first pair to use Zoom Air and the first to launch under Brand Jordan. It might not have the mainstream appeal as the shiny patent leather 11s, but it had an identity that was maybe best exemplified by a pair of ads – the commercial below and The Master poster – that featured an older, wiser Jordan. He might not be able to fly like it once did, but he could still kick your ass. And those shoes? Yeah, they’ll kick your ass too.
With this weekend’s release of the Air Jordan 12 The Master poised to continue that legacy, let’s take a look back at our picks of the Top 10 Air Jordan 12 colorways. Don’t forget to follow our Air Jordan 12 The Master launch page for more release information, images and videos while you’re checking this out.
Air Jordan 12 Flint Grey
The Flint Grey kicks off our list with a no-frills, no-gimmicks needed colorway. It’s a recurring theme with the 12; the design is strong enough that it doesn’t need bright, shiny colorways to get people to notice. First released in 2004, a retro of these would be greatly appreciated at some point.
Air Jordan 12 Rising Sun
The almost tonal opposite of The Master colorway cracks the top 10 mostly on seniority, but also because it’s a good colorway of the 12 in its own right. The only problem is that when Jordan decided to release the Rising Sun colorway, they were originally going to do so with a white and red insole that replicated the design of the actual Rising Sun flag, which is considered offensive especially in China and South Korea because they represent Japanese imperialism, particularly during World War II. Yeah, best to downplay that aspect of the 12’s design, guys.
Air Jordan 12 French Blue
Originally meant to be a Washington Wizards-themed pair for Michael Jordan, all of the copper accents were replaced with grey and red when it became clear MJ wasn’t going to suit up for the Wiz again. A non-OG colorway that first dropped in 2004, the Air Jordan 12 French Blue was worn by the likes of Richard Hamilton, Ray Allen and one Kobe Bryant. That’s right, prior to the Black Mamba being a full-time Nike guy, he managed to sneak in a Jordan retro or two during the 2003-04 season, including the French Blue 12s. It’s coming back this year (check out our Air Jordan 12 French Blue launch page for more information) so you can bet there’s going to be a lot of people who cop that remember it more for Kobe (or even John Wall) than for MJ. Oh, that’s a gloriously funny thing to me…
Air Jordan 12 UNC/’Melo
I vaguely remember the Air Jordan 12 UNC dropping in women’s sizes and yearning for a men’s version. Only years later would I find out that a Carmelo Anthony PE version would actually become available but only in limited quantities. With a color blocking that is reminiscent of the classic Team Jordan 1 UNC (which is to say minimal as all hell), I could write a Sneaker Grails post about all of the great player exclusive 12s that have been made through the years. Hey, wait a minute…
Air Jordan 12 Taxi
The Taxi might be the most popular version of the Air Jordan 12. That isn’t a surprise considering MJ wore it all throughout the 1996-97 NBA regular season, which also happened to be the league’s 50th anniversary, so we definitely have plenty of pics of the Taxi that year. The Taxi has received the retro treatment a handful of times in both its original and low-cut form so its versatility is well-documented as well. It mostly recently came back a few years ago in 2013, but don’t be surprised if it makes another go-around to go along with all of the other 12s that are dropping this year.
Air Jordan 12 Cherry
Another Air Jordan 12 that is also rumored to come back in 2016 is the Air Jordan 12 Cherry or White/Varsity Red. With its bright red hues, it’s another pair that His Airness wore frequently during the regular season. However, it might as well be called the “Iverson 12s” because these were the kicks that MJ wore when he got crossed up by a young rookie guard from the Philadelphia 76ers who was creating his own sneaker legacy.
Air Jordan 12 Obsidian
The Air Jordan 12 Obsidian stood out from the pack of Air Jordans, especially in the ’90s when you associate Js as being mostly a red, black and white affair. You knew there was no way Michael Jordan was ever going to wear them on the court, which was crazy to think of at the time, but that also made them special, like they were made for other players to wear. That was the case when the shoe got a retro in 2012 and guys like Nate Robinson, Monta Ellis and Russell Westbrook all wore the dark blue kicks to compliment their attire.
PSNY x Air Jordan 12
Yes, they’re that good. They better be considering they come with a $300 price tag and a box that we’ll just say isn’t so environmentally conscious. This premium version of the Air Jordan 12 actually succeeds where other 12s have failed miserably in making the nubuck actually work with the shoe’s design. The monochromatic charcoal look turns the shoe into something more than just a basketball sneaker but something of a work of art. The closest analogue I could make for this is when the Nike used a marble finish on the Nike Kobe 2 Prelude and transformed the entire look of the shoe into a piece that could be displayed in a museum.
Air Jordan 12 Playoffs
Disclaimer: These are my all-time favorite pair of Air Jordans. If ever there was a shoe that optimized how much of a badass Michael Jordan was during his prime, it was the Playoff 12s. Some of his greatest and most iconic moments took place in the Playoff 12, including the first triple double in an NBA All-Star Game and a game-winner in Game 1 of the 1997 NBA Finals. You know it as the most famous instance of Jordan’s fist pump victory celebration.
Air Jordan 12 Flu Game
No, the 2009 version with emojis don’t count. I’m talking about the textured leather black and red version that came out in 1997 and again in 2003 and hopefully will be back this year (to keep up to date with that, follow our Air Jordan 12 Flu Game launch page for more information). Worn by Michael Jordan in maybe his finest moment – a Game 5 that could have shifted the momentum of the series to Utah while battling “food poisoning” – the shoe would become a part of the legend as MJ rose to the occasion and put together an amazing effort that would eventually lead the Bulls to their fifth championship.
Air Jordan 12 The Master Honors An Iconic Poster This Weekend
Michael Jordan was a master of the game of basketball. He did things on the court that only came once he surpassed Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000-hour rule of practice and then some. From his game-winning buzzer beaters, improved jump shooting once he lost his high-flying game to age, and near-psychotic traits of competitiveness, we’ll simply never see another truly like Mike. This weekend, Jordan Brand is honoring 1997’s iconic “The Master” poster with a new luxurious take on the Air Jordan 12. The standard remastered program is in full effect here, as a premium all-black upper is interrupted by metallic gold accents. The Air Jordan 12 “The Master” is a member of The Poster Collection, with an Air Jordan 2 slated to release later this year. Be sure to check out more photos of this upcoming weekend release below and, as always, you can skip the lines and secure your pair right now via eBay.
Preview Two More Nike LeBron 9 Soldier Flyease Releases
Last summer Nike Basketball and LeBron James presented a special edition of the Soldier 8 with a modified zippered enclosure system designed to allow easier access in and out of the shoe for the disabled. The Flyease tech is now back again on the next edition of the Soldier series, seen just yesterday on two new colorways of the Soldier 9, and today comes a look at two more. This time the LeBron Soldier 9 Flyease opts for two basic black and white options, each with speckled and reflective detailing. Expect both colorways to hit select Nike Basketball retailers soon.
This Could Be The Last Lakers-Themed Kobe To Ever Hit Retailers
With Kobe Bryant retiring, plenty of people are rushing to pick up the Nike Kobe 11 to signify his last signature shoe ever worn on-court. Nike Basketball has been plenty creative with colorways on this Flyknit gem, but let it be known that the debut pair worn by the Black Mamba on-court was this purple and black pair (he debuted them in his last game against the Boston Celtics). This weekend you?ll get a chance to own your own, as this Kobe 11 drops at retailers on February 27th. It does beg the question though – is this the last Lakers-themed Kobe to hit retailers? Purple is synonymous with the Hollywood hoopers and while Nike has hinted at the Kobe line continuing past his playing days, there?s still no announcement for any further 11s featuring purple and gold. What do you think of the Nike Kobe 11 “Eulogy”? Check out more photos below and find your size right now on eBay.

Extra Butter Teases A Hockey-Inspired Reebok Collaboration
New York’s Extra Butter is teaming up with Reebok once again for another collaborative sneaker. Based on their teaser shot, this time Extra Butter appears to be celebrating the game of hockey on the Reebok Ventilator Supreme. So far all we can see is the icy blue outsole of the shoe, but the Extra Butter crew are known New York Islanders fans, so there’s a good chance the upper features the blue and orange team colors. Or with EB’s history of movie-inspired collabs, could these have something to do with the ultimate hockey movie, Slapshot? Maybe the Mighty Ducks? We’ll have to wait until Extra Butter’s reveals another look, so stay tuned.
