Suede And Leather Are Coming To The adidas NMD R1
By SoleInsider
Those of you worried that the adidas NMD R1 will be taking a hiatus during the colder months ahead – don’t. adidas Originals is planning on bolstering everyone’s favorite running-inspired lifestyle offering with suede and leather for the months ahead as previews of an upcoming colorway via EU Kicks showcases a new black suede upper complete with added tan leather accents for a premium overhaul.
The adidas NMD R1 has been one of the most popular summer silhouettes thanks to its breathable mesh or Primeknit upper paired with a full-length Boost midsole for added comfort. It will be interesting to see how the model adapts to Fall/Winter, and here a new suede upper ditches the ventilated mentality for a more supportive offering for colder temperatures. It’s hard to see how suede will affect the build in these preview shots, but the photo below showcasing the adidas NMD’s signature heel support does have a promising look thanks to a lifestyle tan leather. The look matches the heel tab perfectly, as a near selvedge denim look takes over thanks to the use of indigo and tan “The Brand With The Three Stripes” branding throughout.
There’s no word yet on when exactly this adidas NMD Suede and Leather will arrive at retailers, but you can expect a release sometime in the near future. When we get word on a release date, you can expect an update right here on Sneaker News.

Gone is the Primeknit upper in favor of a seamless build that gives it a futuristic look, especially in this sleek matte black colorway. $130 for baby shoes? You’re kidding me, right? I’ll admit that the baby version of the Yeezy Boost 350 does look pretty cool, but that’s too much to pay for a shoe that a baby will only wear for a couple of months.
The adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Infant Is Too Damn Expensive, So Heres Why Im Buying Them
By SoleInsider
@ezyville
To this kid, I’m “Uncle Shoes.”
Or to be more specific, “Ninong Shoes (because #SoPinoy).”
Actually, if we’re being totally honest, I’m just “duck” because one of his first words ever was “duck.”
My nephew means the world to me. Sure, I’ve been a “Ninong” – the colloquial term for godfather in the Philippines – to a number of kids because it’s a term that gets passed around rather liberally, but it’s different with this one. For starters, he’s my brother’s first child, so no matter where I am – I could be on the east coast for work or he could be vacationing back home in Manila – he has a picture or a video for me doing hilarious baby things. The kid has so much stroke with me that I’ve been house sitting for them out in Temecula while he’s in the motherland. Temecula. Who the hell lives in Temecula?
Since I am “Ninong Shoes”, he has been blessed with an inordinate amount of sneakers (no Jordan retros because he’s not to going to live in my past), no doubt more than the typical kid at his age. While I haven’t been able to scratch off everything on this list, I have been able to get him his share of heat, including some that I didn’t expect. One of things that I have been waiting for is the chance to lace him up in some adidas Boost. He has a pair of Superstars and while that’s cool and all, he needs a piece of the future. It didn’t matter if it was Ultra, Pure, NMD or Yeezy, he was going to get his pillowy soft sneakers someday.
So far, adidas has only released the NMDs in kid’s sizes, but none of have dropped down to the infant and toddler sizes. Until now…
This weekend, adidas will be launching a handful of new Yeezy Boosts, including the mysterious 2.0 Yeezys for grown-ups and the long-awaited infant sizes in Turtle Dove and Pirate Black colorways. Originally exclusive to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s child North West, now we’ll have the chance to rock our kids with the same kicks we have a la families who like to have matching Jordans for everybody. When I saw that one of the colorways was going to be the Turtle Dove, I was ecstatic because I own a pair of the OGs.
Now here’s the rub. Infant Yeezys will set us back $130 (plus tax). No, that’s not a typo. A shoe that will last your child no more than a few months because genetics is going to cost more than an NMD R1 (mesh). For reference, Jordan retros in infant sizes go for no more than $60 and the price for Kobes, LeBron, KDs and even Kyries run for less. Again, this is for a pair of kicks that the baby will have no memory of ever wearing except for the thousands of pictures and videos we’re all going to take to get our money’s worth.
Now, this is where the typical sneaker blog post might go off the deep end and complain about the overpriced Yeezys as really being the end of civilization as we know it. We are allowing adidas to play us by being suckers and paying $130 for baby shoes, some might say. This where we should send a message and take a stand by saying “enough is enough and we’re not going to take it anymore”, other would demand.
That would be the typical sneaker blog post. But I’m not that guy.
I’m that guy who has sent out more than a few text messages to uh, industry people trying to see if I can buy a pair without having to deal with raffles or GPS-dependent apps. I’m that guy who will get raffle tickets or stand out in the hot Los Angeles summer waiting for reservations to open so I can “confirm” a pair. I’m that guy who is seriously tempted to go on Kixify if things don’t work out this Saturday.
Why? Because when he’s old enough to understand, I want the kid to realize that while his “Ninong Shoes” won’t lift a finger for a thirsty hypebeast, he has a godfather that will go the extra mile for him, whether it’s for sneakers, toys, food and all the fun stuff. Maybe I won’t buy him a Supreme brick (or anything Supreme for that matter), but as long he knows that I have his back always, that’s what’s important. Besides, it’s not like I have to deal with most of the serious child-rearing stuff anyways. That’s his parent’s job. I’ll be the Kanye to his Blue Ivy, or the Jay Z to his North, whichever makes more sense.

The Mint Green colorway is dope! I’m a fan of that hue so it’s a no-brainer as to which pair I would choose.

It seems like a lot of model are taking inspiration from the EQT line nowadays. The next pair to do so is none other than the adidas ZX Flux. Using the beloved Sub Green colorway to help give the shoe some pop, let’s take a look at what is being called the adidas ZX Flux Sub Green.
This pair of the ZX Flux comes in a predominantly White seamless upper contrasted nicely by the Sub Green noted on the branding on the tongue, heel and side panels. A little bit of Grey is seen on the heel to complete the EQT feel of the shoe. What are your thoughts on the adidas ZX Flux Sub Green? Hot or not? Available internationally, a stateside release appears imminent.
With Fall season among us, it’s time to break out some all-Black sneaker. In need of a pair? Check out the adidas Gazelle rocking the Core Black look.
Opting to come in monochromatic fashion, the adidas Gazelle rocks a Black leather upper done in a Core Black colorway. The same hue is used on the sole, Three Stripes, laces, tongue and lining. The only part of the shoe that does not come in Black is the Gold branding on the side panels. Embossed Trefoil branding on the tongue give the shoe a nice touch to round out the main features on the shoe. Available internationally, we will let you know once this pair arrives stateside.
Solid looking colorway done on the Gazelle. The branding on the tongue and Gold hit is really a nice touch. Would I buy? No. But it’s still dope looking sneaker.

By SoleInsider
Yup! It’s happening, adidas Yeezy Basketball sneakers could actually become a reality in 2017. A couple months ago, adidas published a press release confirming that Kanye would be designing performance footwear and apparel, now Nick DePaula via Slam is here to give us an update as to what’s really going down.

Check Out This Never Before Seen adidas Ultra Boost Model
By SoleInsider
New Ultra Boost alert. The three stripes have been focused on the adidas NMD line for most of summer, with the sock-like fit being heralded for its perfect and timely appearance onto the release slate. The adidas Ultra Boost has still been going strong too, with both the Caged and Uncaged models benefiting from tonal and vibrant colorized Boost looks to hold you down for the hottest months of the year. Now the trefoil brand is tinkering with the design for a brand new Ultra Boost construction.
So what do we call this model? It’s not quite ‘Uncaged’ but does share the sock-like slip-on fit of past adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged releases. In fact, the overall aesthetic is fairly reminiscent of Stella McCartney’s Ultra Boost with the added overlay not only serving as the lace eyelets but connecting the solidified heel cage for a comfortable form-fitting ride.
What do you think of this new Ultra Boost construction? Be sure to check out more preview images after the break and we’ll keep you updated on all of the latest adidas Ultra Boost releases right here on Sneaker News.
The adidas Samoa Pigskin Pack Continues With Two New Colorways
By SoleInsider
adidas Originals is refreshing their adidas Samoa “Pigskin Pack” with two new colorways slated to release on August 27th. The original adidas Samoa Pigskin Pack introduced three monochromatic colorways of grey, pink, and tan, each in soft pigskin suede for a standout look that was perfect for the warmer months when the trio debuted back in late-May. Now the trefoil looks ahead to Fall 2016 with the release of vibrant Deep Red and fresh Mint Green colorways.
The adidas Samoa perfectly meshes early 2000s streetwear sensibilities with a retro soccer twist, made modern here through the use of a luxurious pigskin suede wrapping entirely around the low-top silhouette. Embossed branding on the side panels, tongue, and heel adds a premium effect to match a leather interior. The latest adidas Samoa “Pigskin Pack” will release on August 27th for $130 each. Check out more detailed shots below and stay tuned for more updates right here on Sneaker News.
What more can be said about adidas Originals’ dominant summer and releases like the adidas NMD and the adidas NMD XR1? Through smart and minimalist design cues, Primeknit and Boost constructions, and smart rollout plans that keep fans interested, the trefoil brand has proven to be back in a major way. And all of that is before the upcoming colorized Boost wave that’s coming in the near future, like with this adidas NMD XR1 Triple Black, slated to release at European outlets on August 26th.
The NMD XR1 Triple Black accomplishes the murdered out look in a completely new way, as the Primeknit upper utilizes a head-turning striped construction consisting of both Core Black and Dark Grey accents. The TPU cage overlay adds lockdown support in a stylish way, as a matte black matches the new Core Black Boost midsole unit. Other details like striped laces, new suede heel counter and matching “The Brand With The Three Stripes” heel tab all pull together in the perfect way.
There’s no word yet on when the adidas NMD XR1 Triple Black will arrive at stateside retailers, but if you’re overseas in Europe, know that you can try to get your hands on this pair on August 26th. Check out more detailed shots below and stay tuned for more updates via our release dates page.
