adidas will soon be releasing their final collection that celebrates Black History Month. This time the collection is brought to you by adidas athletics. This latest addition to their Arthur Ashe Tribute Collection pays homage to the legacy of the pro tennis player and his contributions to the sport that spanned over three decades. The final release in the Arthur Ashe Tribute Collection has adidas Athletics unveiling a limited-edition apparel pack as well as a reimagined version of the Stan Smith in the likeness of the Arthur Ashe.
The adidas Athletics apparel pack features three performance items of clothing including a polo shirt, shorts and a heavy-weight bomber jacket. The white polo shirt features a clean spread collar and hidden button placket, while accenting the back panel with a tonal three stripe color execution representing the scholastic achievements of Arthur Ashe. The pique color bomber jacket in white takes tailoring cues from the adidas athletics design language and features a reflective tennis court graphic on the back panel to commemorate the 1975 Wimbledon win by Arthur Ashe ? a first for any African American. Rounding out the design story, the inside lining up the bomber jacket features a large portrait of Arthur Ashe and the shorts are maintained in a classic 8? tennis fit for durability on the court.
When it comes to the Stan Smith in the collection, adidas Originals transforms the classic model into a limited-edition version for Arthur Ashe. The Arthur Ashe x Stan Smith will feature a stenciled face of Arthur Ashe on the tongue, black trim around the upper lining and the scholastic colorway on the heel tab. The concept for the shoe was inspired by the on-court rivalry between the two electrifying players (Stan Smith) who were also friends behind the scenes.
The apparel from the adidas athletics Arthur Ashe Tribute Collection is available now at adidas.com, while the and the adidas Originals ?Arthur Ashe x Stan Smith? will be available sometime next month.
