Our First Look At The Parley x Stella McCartney x adidas Ultra Boost X

We’ve got a three-way collaboration on the way. This time around adidas links up with both Parley and Stella McCartney to release a special version of the adidas Ultra Boost X. Let’s get a first look.

The Parley x Stella McCartney x adidas Ultra Boost X keeps things fairly tonal as the uniquely constructed White upper is made out of a combination of Primeknit and recycled ocean waste. The model’s unique design has it come with a Floating midfoot arch and distinctive lacing system inspired by Stella McCartney’s signature style. Lastly it wouldn’t be an Ultra Boost if it didn’t come with Boost, right? No release date yet, but stay tuned and we will be sure to let you know. Thoughts?

The adidas All Boost Everything Strategy Is Working Where Other Hybrids Failed

Another day, another milestone for adidas as they have successfully released and sold out most of their stock of the new Iniki Runner (try Kixify if you didn’t cop). The vintage-inspired lifestyle sneaker with Boost technology is the latest in a growing number of classically styled adidas silhouettes that are getting a new lease on life thanks to the super popular and super comfortable cushioning system.

But hybrids like the Iniki Runner isn’t some new revelation that brands are just now starting to jump on. There have been numerous other examples of iconic kicks getting a refresh by implementing the latest technology on them, whether it’s now knitted instead of leather or the brand new cushioning applied to an untouched upper.

While some might argue that the practice is a little lazy as brands should be focused on pushing everything forward with an eye to the future, the retro business – whether it’s remixed or remastered – is a very lucrative one especially if it hits huge. Nike Sportswear and Jordan Brand have used this strategy to varying degrees of success and failure through the years, Reebok Classics have placed their legendary Pump on anything that moves and adidas Originals love to go back and tinker (no pun intended) with their legacy models to see what will work in the modern era. And Boost works with everything.

Ok, that’s not totally true of course. As much as people seem to be loving the adidas Iniki Runner right now and have gotten hyped for upcoming Stan Smith Boost, the reception for the adidas Superstar Boost has been tepid at best. Like all trends, the momentum that Boost has captured and sustained for two years now seems to be growing right now but we all know that it will eventually level out at some point. The question is when it does, does Boost become as synonymous with adidas as Air does with Nike. There’s an argument that it’s already there, but let’s give Boost a few more years to prove itself before we start making the comparison.

Pharrell Is Shown Wearing A New Colorful Pharrell x adidas NMD Human Race

Pharrell Williams recently took to his IG to share a picture that shows him wearing a never-before-seen colorway of the Pharrell x adidas NMD Human Race. Unlike past releases, this pair ditches the tonal upper in favor of a much more colorful aesthetic. What looks to be a woven upper, comes in an array of different colors coming together resulting in a pretty colorful and vibrant motif. Just like all the past Pharrell x adidas NMD Human Race drops, this pair also comes with large branding on it which happens to read “EARTH” on one foot and “BODY” on the other. Adding to the boldness of the shoe are the set of Yellow laces, all while sitting on top of a White Boost midsole. No word yet if these are a one-off or a future release, but as soon as more info is provided we will be sure to let you know. Initial thoughts?

Reigning Champ x adidas Ultra Boost 3.0 Clear Grey

Release Date: Spring/Summer 2017
Price: ???

With their first variation releasing this past November 2016, another colorway of the Reigning Champ x adidas Ultra Boost is scheduled to debut this year, although in a more pristine rendition.

The Vancouver-based clothing label essentially reinterprets the popular runner’s 3.0 edition, utilizing its core design ethos with premium craftsmanship. A mixture of clear grey and aluminum comprises the breathable primeknit construction, while the signature three stripe caging system has been revamped in a more premium suede build.

More tonal suede accents are implemented on the TPU lined heel counter, as it’s all adhered atop a crisp white boost sole unit and grey continental outsole to perfectly coordinate with its color scheme.

Author’s Take:

Renz Ofiaza, News: This silhouette is hard to dislike and in this interpretation, it’s another solid take on the model. The overall colorway and construction is pretty appealing overall. The subtle suede detailing gives it a really nice premium touch.
