Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Low In Rio Teal

The Nike LunarEpic Flyknit Low is one of Nike Running’s most popular silhouettes. The combination of a traditional Flyknit upper when paired with the new laser-cut Lunarlon outsole gives Nike Running’s latest generation of performance models something to aim for. Its sleek design has found the perfect middle ground between hallmark performance technology and casual style which is why we’re excited to see the latest installment.

Inspired by the Rio Olympics, a heavy dose of “Rio Teal” lands on the woven upper. The head-turning aquamarine shade pairs beautifully with exposed Volt Dynamic Flywire cables to help aid in lockdown support in the most stylish way. Throw in a crisp white Swoosh branding on the side panel branding to match the bolstered Lunarlon midsole and what results is a LunarEpic Flyknit pair perfect for Summer 2016.

Be sure to check out more photos after the break and be on the lookout for this Rio-inspired LunarEpic Flyknit to arrive at retailers in the near future. We’ll keep you updated on availability right here on Sneaker News.

Coastal Blue Coats The Latest Nike Air Max Plus Satin

Nike Air Max Plus Nike Air Max Plus 2 Nike Air Max Plus 1

Following its night maroon and light bone colorways, the satin variation of the Nike Air Max Plus continue to be released in more iterations this summer, which is now featured in a bold hue of coastal blue.

The defining tone essentially coats the shimmering upper construction, alongside obsidian stitching and matching leather throughout the mudguard and TPU-reinforced toe cap. A white midsole and versatile gum outsole perfectly complements the overall color palette and composition nicely.

Look for this women’s exclusive pair at select Nike retailers overseas first, while a stateside release is imminent.

Sneakers In 4K Retro: Nike Air Max 90 Lunar SP Moon Landing (Video)

A few months ago, Nike Sportswear introduced the Air Max Vote Back to get people ready for Air Max Day 2016. Featuring a large selection of Air Max sneakers both classic and instant classic, the Vote Back democratized the process and put the onus on the fans to bring back an Air Max from the past for retro release in 2017. The eventual winner, the Atmos x Nike Air Max 1, was seen as one of the early favorites to win, but it was not an easy road as plenty of surprising or questionable selections took the top spot before common sense prevailed.

One of those shockers was how well 2014’s Nike Air Max 90 SP Lunar Moon Landing performed. Released on the 45th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s historic mission, the Air Max 90’s reflective upper became pieces of moon rocks that also featured Nike’s Lunar cushioning (because Lunar, get it?). It was a divisive release at the time with lots of sneakerheads looking to pay – not to mention overpay – for them while many others did not see the appeal, so to see them take 3rd place in the Vote Back was a shocker.

What isn’t a shocker is their appearance in Sneakers In 4K, our video series that takes a look back (and forward) in beautifully glorious HD. Did you score a pair a few years back or were you one of the many who hoped to see these take the Vote Back?

A Closer Look At The Upcoming Nike Footscape Woven NM Rainbow

NikeLab is bringing back the Nike Footscape Rainbow with an autumn twist in the near future. The Zen-like Eastern influence has been one of Nike Sportswear’s oddest offerings in years past, and we’re happy to see the silhouette return featuring one of its most head-turning features – a multi-color woven construction on the asymmetrical side panel.

Previewed last week, the Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka “Rainbow” should be a pleasant surprise to fans of the natural motion wielding Chukka model. A bolstered suede upper returns in two colorway options, a simple Black and a casual Light Bone, each featuring touches of darker hues of navy, maroon, and olive on the interlaced webbing.

Are you happy to see the return of the Nike Air Footscape Woven? Check out an on-feet preview of the Nike Footscape Rainbow after the break, and while some have reported outlets like Dover Street Market already stocking this duo, we’ll keep you updated on a widespread release right here on Sneaker News.

Sneaker Grails: The Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne Made For Bron, Jay Z And Kanye West

Somewhere buried deep in a sea of Yeezy Boost samples at Kanye West’s home is a black Nike Sportswear bag. ‘Ye probably hasn’t opened it in a long time – surely not since West had a very public parting of ways with the swoosh – but inside that bag is one of the most talked about “friends and family” exclusives of all time, the Watch The Throne Nike LeBron 9. Today, the legendary collaborative album is celebrating its 5th anniversary so let’s take a look back at the special kicks that LeBron gifted ‘Ye and Jay a few years ago in this luxurious edition of Sneaker Grails.

Watch The Throne was a watershed moment in hip-hop and everybody knew it from the moment they heard “Otis”, the album’s second single (sorry, but “H.A.M.” sucks and still sucks). Often times albums that bring together major talents such as Kanye and Jay Z usually fall flat because egos get in the way and no side allows the other parties to shine too much. Watch The Throne manages brings the best out of both, featuring some of the best production work in Kanye’s career and Jay sounding as fierce and hungry as he did during his heyday while also realizing they are both highly successful dudes. The result is well, “luxury rap”.

To go along with the critical and public acclaim of the album was the accompanying tour that was a must-see at every stop. In November 2011, the duo would make their way to American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat and at the time, LeBron James. Everybody knows how close James is to both members of The Throne, so a gift from LeBron is not all that surprising. But what was surprising was Nike’s own collaborative effort to put together the special three-of-a-kind sneaker.

The Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne was a joint project between Nike designers Erick Goto (who also designed one my favorite kicks of all-time, the Nike Kobe 9 EM Philippines), Eugene Rogers and artist Gabriel Urist. At first glance, the black and gold colorway is rather simple, but it’s the details like the lining and lacing, which is based off Watch The Throne’s album cover with a touch of LeBron that makes the colorway unlike any other LeBron 9 at the time. And then there’s the wild gold lace jewel, which is actually a molded piece of wax that was also inspired by the album’s aesthetic.

Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne 1 Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne 2 Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne 3 Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne 4 Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne 5 Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne 6

Prior to working at KicksOnFire, I was on the outside looking in, writing mostly about video games at the time while starting to build my own path through various outlets that would let me talk about sneakers. The Nike LeBron 9 Watch The Throne was one of the first stories that really took on a life of its own during my time as a blogger as every leaked image and blurry cell phone shot was headline news. Everybody wanted to know how they could score a pair of their own, people were getting custom versions made and pretty soon you had t-shirts, sneakers, wristbands and everything in between that all “borrowed” the shoe’s instantly classic print.

So much has changed in the years since Watch The Throne. Kanye West is arguably the biggest celebrity in the world alongside his wife Kim Kardashian, Jay Z has a streaming service, a sports agency and a daily reminder never to cross Queen Bey on his plate, and LeBron James has redeemed himself from taking his talent to South Beach by bringing Cleveland its first major sports championship in decades. There have been multiple iterations and samples of the Watch The Throne style being grafted onto other sneakers, but know there are only three true members of the Throne (LeBron 9).

An All-Red Nike KD 9 Could Be Releasing Soon

Kevin Durant and Team USA are currently out in Rio putting in work to bring home the gold medal. Today we get a first look at a new colorway of Durant’s latest signature shoe, the Nike KD 9.

Currently being known as the Triple Red colorway, even though that will probably change soon, this KD 9 takes on the once popular all-red color scheme and covers the entire shoe in the bright red hue. Everything from the Flyknit upper to the branding to the inner liner and even the sole unit are covered in red.

This all-red Nike KD 9 is expected to release at select Nike retailers some time this Fall for $150. What are your thoughts on this colorway? Cop or pass?

via: Sneaker Reporter

Author’s Take

I don’t think that all-red sneakers should be a thing anymore. Some black or silver should have been added somewhere to make this shoe look better.

Riccardo Tisci Brings Multi-Color Flyknit To The NikeLab Training Shoe

Riccardo Tisci and NikeLab are partnering up once again, and this time the sneaker gets more colorful than ever. Far removed from the insanely high-top Air Force 1 by Tisci, this is a sneaker that’s certainly much less polarizing: the Free Train Force Flyknit in the always-popular multicolor look. The unique color-up for the high-performance training shoe that doubles nicely as a fashion-friendly sneaker features the Flyknit upper in a mix of bright blues, greens, reds, and yellows with white stripes running down the middle and black accents. Is this the best Nike sneaker by Tisci yet? We’re expecting many will agree, and in turn, these wont last long at retail. Stay tuned to Sneaker News for an official release date.
