Find Out Why Students At Penn State No Longer Want Contract With Nike

Penn State’s non-athletic licensing contract with Nike expires at the end of January and Penn State University?s chapter of United Students Against Sweatshops is asking to the school to not renew it.

The students have already asked Penn State University president Eric Barron to not renew the contract due to the unethical working conditions at the company?s factory in Hansae, Vietnam. The group has reported that the Nike factory in Hansae has stopped allowing the Worker Rights Consortium to inspect the site. On top of that, the interviews with people who work in the factory have revealed poor conditions.

Samantha Matthews, vice president of Penn State United Students Against Sweatshops, read an employee’s quote to 6 News.

?If we collapse on the job and wake up in 10 or 15 minutes, we have to immediately keep working to meet target goals. If we are taken to the medic station, we still have to come back and finish our products”

Although previous meetings between United Students Against Sweatshops and Penn State University president Eric Barron have been positive and pointed towards signs of not renegotiating with Nike, university officials said on Tuesday that they intend to strike a new deal with Nike.

This is what Penn State spokesperson Lisa Powers had to say:

“We are currently discussing the terms for continuing the licensing agreement with Nike. Among the terms subject to this negotiation, Penn State has put forward provisions directed at the protection of workers? rights. If Nike and Penn State can agree to terms, we will renew the agreement.”

The United Students Against Sweatshops don’t really know what the outcome will be, but hope that President Baron steps up and makes a statement of what exactly is going to happen in the near future.

These Two Pairs Of The Nike Sock Dart Come With Water-Repellant Uppers

The Nike Sock Dart is usually not a model that comes to mind when thinking about sneakers you could wear in the rain, and even though these two bold colorways “appear” to be better suited for the Spring/Summer, they’re actually made with water-repellant upper.

We’ve seen this done on the model before, but these latest releases stand out due to the bold hues used on the upper. Coming in Max Orange and Paramount Blue, the shoe’s upper are constructed out of a weatherproof synthetic overlay. Breaking up the tonal look are the Wolf Grey and Black accents noted on the ankle collar/heel/tongue region. Completing the look is the White midsole and Black ousole combination. Are you a fan of this look? You can now find these internationally, while a stateside release appears imminent.

Nike SNKRS Postpones Release Of The LeBron 14 Chase Down

Michael Jordan had ‘The Shot’, Kobe had his 81 and his farewell ‘Mamba Out’ 60, but up until last year’s NBA Finals, LeBron James didn’t have a signature on-court moment to define his career. That all changed with less than two minutes to go in Game 7 when Andre Iguodala put up a go-ahead layup on a fastbreak, only for LeBron to seemingly come out of nowhere and swipe the ball away right before it touched the glass. That incredible feat of athleticism serves as the inspiration for the debut Nike LeBron 14 colorway, as the Black Ice aesthetic pays homage to the championship-defining play with its official nickname: the Nike LeBron 14 Chase Down. Unfortunately, Nike SNKRS has postponed the release of the LeBron 14 until February 10th at 10AM EST so those of you waiting to grab the latest LeBron signature have to remain patient for a few more weeks.

Perhaps the postponement has to do with the first-ever Nike Zoom Generation “First Game” retro releasing at a select few boutiques throughout the week or even the announcement that the Christmas Day colorway known as the Nike LeBron 14 “Out of Nowhere” could potentially be releasing at select shops on Friday, January 27th and Saturday, January 28th. Whatever the reason, will you be grabbing the LeBron 14 Chase Down when it finally arrives at retailers on February 10th for $175?

For more on this pair, head over to our Where To Buy The Nike LeBron 14 “Chase Down” post. Check out more detailed shots below and stay tuned for more updates right here on Sneaker News.

His longevity is unparalleled as King James is leading the NBA in minutes per game at 32 years old and is an MVP candidate once again. The Nike Kyrie 3 Hyper Cobalt (Brotherhood) Pays Tribute To Duke

Aside from the notable Nike Kyrie 3 Samurai, this forthcoming hyper cobalt edition is actually noted as a homage to Kyrie Irving’s alma mater — Duke University.

Dubbed “Brotherhood,” Kyrie Irving credits a lot of his success and basketball knowledge with his time at the university and to Coach K., even when he only played in 11 games for Duke.

The sneaker’s colorway takes cues from the university’s signature palette with white dominating its upper, followed by blue accents prominent on the inner lining and outsole unit, which pronounces the overall profile. Glossy black swooshes further accentuate its design, while pops of bright crimson also appear on the outsole.

Retailing for $120, select Nike retailers nationwide such as Finishline have the pair releasing this Friday, Jan. 27th, while more availability is set for February 1st.

Another Classic Combo On The Latest Nike Air Huarache

While this colorway of the Nike Air Huarache has released in the past, this variation is essentially slightly different for the new year.

Bearing a textile/neoprene composition, draped in the defining hue of wolf grey, the understated tone is also utilized for its leather overlays to create a clean, monochromatic profile. A darker grey hue is applied on the tongue branding, signature rubber heel cage and outsole for a subtle touch of contrast, while a crisp white midsole unit caps off the timeless design altogether.

You can purchase this pair at select Nike retailers overseas now, while a stateside release is imminent.

The Nike Zoom Spirimic Returns With Three New Winter Colors

The shoe that combines a stylized reinterpretation of the Zoom Seismic upper with the Zoom Spiridon tooling arrives this winter in three tonal mesh and nubuck uppers, with your pick of Loyal Blue, Bamboo, and Team Red. All three will be available soon at select Nike Sportswear retailers worldwide.
