Is The Air Jordan 2 Low Gym Red A Suitable Red October Replacement (Video)

Try as Jordan Brand and Nike might, there is no replacing the Nike Air Yeezy 2 Red October. That shoe was what we would like to call a moment in time that can’t be replicated, no matter how hard anybody at any brand tries. Since that controversial sneaker dropped, we have seen multiple efforts by Nike to recreate the magic and while some are closer, it just doesn’t feel the same. Now that we are in 2016, is it even worth the effort? It looks like the answers point to “yes” because here’s Jordan Brand with an almost all-red effort with the Air Jordan 2 Low Gym Red. It’s got hints of Turquoise and Black but there’s not mistaking what shoe it’s trying to replicate. Can it even compare to the Nike Air Python that dropped in a similar style a while back?

To follow up on a scaly iteration, the iconic Air Jordan 1 High is offered in another classic finish, although this time offered in GS sizing.

Flaunting a premium build, white canvas is utilized for its underlays, tongue and laces, while the upper is adorned with black suede overlays that flow across the toe cap, along the eyelets, towards the ankle and rear. Additionally seen on the Swoosh branding and outsole, a clean white midsole unit solidifies the overall construction.

Will You Be Picking Up The Air Jordan 11 Low Varsity Red This Summer

IMG_4565 IMG_4564 IMG_4563 IMG_4562 IMG_4561

Later this Summer we’ll be seeing the release of the Air Jordan 11 in the Varsity Red colorway.

Many people consider the Air Jordan 11 Low the best low-top Air Jordan silhouette of all-time so we expect for many people to go after this release. Looking at early images of this Air Jordan 11 Low we can see that the majority of the shoe is done in the traditional ballistic nylon mesh in white while Varsity Red covers the patent leather mudguard and some of the pods on the translucent outsole.

There is still no exact release date yet for this upcoming colorway of the Air Jordan 11 Low but we’ll keep you updated with the latest information here at Kicks On Fire to stay tuned.

Author?s Take

There?s only a couple of colorways of the Air Jordan 11 Low that I would consider buying and this white/red version isn?t one of them. I?m sure lots of people will be hyped to pick up a pair though.

This Premium Air Jordan Horizon Is Already Arriving At Retailers

Air Jordan Horizon 1 Air Jordan Horizon 2 Air Jordan Horizon 3 Air Jordan Horizon 4 Air Jordan Horizon 5 Air Jordan Horizon 6 Air Jordan Horizon 7

Jordan Brand has given the new Air Jordan Horizon a brand new look with this recent release that replaces the old woven upper with a new croc textured leather.

As you can see the reconstructed upper now features black leather all over the shoe that comes with a croc texture to give the shoe a premium look. Other parts of the shoe including the inner liner, midsole, laces, tongue and outsole have also been done in black. The only hit of contrast comes on the outsole where we see sections of the shoe done in Infrared 23.

If you’re interested in a pair they’re beginning to arrive at select Jordan Brand retailers now for $185. Is this a cop or a pass for you?

Author’s Take

To be honest I think I prefer the woven mesh version instead of this leather pair. This looks like a luxury sneaker gone wrong.

Whats The Inspiration Behind The Air Jordan 17+ Bulls

AIR JORDAN 17+ 1 AIR JORDAN 17+ 2 AIR JORDAN 17+ 3 AIR JORDAN 17+ 4 AIR JORDAN 17+ 5 AIR JORDAN 17+ 6

We all know what the Air Jordan 17+ Bulls looks like, but do you happen to know what the inspiration is behind the shoe? Although many of you may know, there’s still some out there who don’t.

As you should all now by now, the shoe is slated to release on May 29th for the retail price of $250. But why did Jordan Brand decide to release this model in this colorway? Well, it turns out that the Bulls colorway of the Air Jordan 17+ pays tribute to the time Michael Jordan scored his 30,000th point. By this point in his career, he was no longer a part of the Chicago Bulls franchise. He was actually playing for the Washington Wizards. So, why the Bulls colorway? He happened to score his 30,000th point while playing against the Chicago Bulls. As you can see, when all is said and done all things come full circle. Now that you know the theme behind the shoe, does this make you want the shoe more? Less? Let us know in the comments below.

via: realchickenwop

Author’s Take

The theme is cool, but in my opinion the shoe would have made more sense if Jordan would have showed love to the Wizards instead of the Bulls. Either way, still cool.

The Air Jordan 2 Low Gym Red Is Only A Few Days Away

A handful of Air Jordan 2 models have already dropped this year, but this is the first time that the shoes comes with the top down. In other words, this weekend will bring us the first Air Jordan 2 Low release of the year, the Air Jordan 2 Low Gym Red.

Not only will the Gym Red colorway be the first Air Jordan 2 Low release of the year, it’s also the boldest and most vibrant looking pair from all of the Air Jordan 2s that have dropped. This time around the Jordan 2 Low is dressed in a Gym Red aesthetic from head to toe. That Gym Red is placed on the full-grain scale-like leather upper, the entire sole unit, lining, laces, tongue and heel tab. The only part of the shoe that does not come in red happens to be the black accents placed on the Jordan Wings branding on the tongue. With so many releases dropping this week, will this be a Jordan retro you will be going after? With the shoe dropping April 2nd for $160, don?t forget to check out our Air Jordan 2 Low Gym Red launch page for additional images and updates.

Author’s Take

The Air Jordan 2 Low is a Jordan retro that I don’t mind seeing in low-top fashion. It actually works quite nicely. Although I like the cut, the shoe just has too much red for my liking. Perhaps a more subtle version will catch my eye in the near future.

Lamar Odom Returns To Staples Center In A Fresh Pair Of Air Jordans

Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade faced off for the final time last night in Los Angeles. And while Kobe was limited to only nine minutes, the game was very entertaining and came down to the last seconds. Lakers came out on top by the way if you didn’t already know.

In attendance at the game last night was a former NBA player that used to be a familiar face at Staples Center and played for both the Heat and the Lakers, Lamar Odom. After going through a rough patch in his life the last few months, Odom was spotted sitting court-side and was doing so rocking the Air Jordan 4 OG 89 White Cement.

While we’ll probably never see Odom step foot on the court again, it’s definitely a good thing to see him in good spirits. By the way, nice kicks Lamar!

One Of The Best Michael Jordan Pictures Ever Has Been Turned Into A Tattoo

Where do you draw the line in terms of being a fan of someone and being obsessed? Many of us buy shoes that belong to a certain player, that’s completely normal. Even jerseys or posters are the norm. But what level of dedication/fandom would warrant someone to get a tattoo of another person? Would you call that crossing the line?

That’s completely up to you to decide, but some fan recently got a tattoo of Michael Jordan, and it’s epic! Pictured above, the tattoo is of MJ’s free-throw line dunk from the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest that is perhaps his most popular picture of all time. The work was done by tattoo artist Steve Butcher. You can even tell that MJ is wearing this same shoe in the tattoo that he did in the actual picture, the White Cement Air Jordan 3s.

What do you think? Would you get this permanently inked on your skin?

Jordan Brand Brings Back The Air Jordan 2 Low With A Bang

Jordan Brand is bringing back the Air Jordan 2 Low in a big way thanks to this weekend’s all-red colorway. The lifestyle aesthetic of all-red sneakers has been a go-to for quite some time now, and by adding a splash of Gym Red atop one of their lesser-known and revered retro models, the Jumpman has updated the Jordan 2 Low to be a relevant offering worthy of your attention heading into the weekend. If you can remember Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s “Legend of the Summer” exclusive from a few years back, then this Air Jodan 2 Low “Gym Red” should bring back memories of those exclusive PEs thanks to the shade and premium scale-like leather upper. All that’s missing is a touch of suede. Check out additional photos below and know that you can always find your pair early on eBay.
