Jack The Ripper Covers The Air Jordan 3 Kobe PE In Python And Elephant
By SoleInsider
After finding out earlier this year that Jordan Brand created the Air Jordan Kobe Pack that featured the Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 8 in Lakers colorways, we were all excited hoping that maybe we would be able to get our hands on a pair. But as more and more time passes it’s starting to feel like they were only given out to friends and family of the brand.
Sneaker customizer Jack The Ripper decided to take matters into his own hands and created an extremely luxurious version of the Air Jordan 3 Kobe PE. This custom Air Jordan 3 that we see above features a matte white python upper with genuine elephant placed on the toecap and heel. A gold lamb liner and additional gold accents on the tongue branding provide a pop while hits of purple complete the Lakers theme. Additional details include purple suede insoles which have “1996-2016″ printed in gold to commemorate the Black Mamba’s amazing 20 year career in the NBA, and Nike Air heel tabs provided by @beat2heatrestorations. This Air Jordan 3 Kobe PE custom will be releasing in October via Jack The Ripper’s web store.
What are your thoughts? Are you feeling this custom Air Jordan 3 covered in python or do you prefer the original?
Wow! These are so nice that I don’t think that I would even wear them. I would just put them up on display in my room. Great custom by Jack The Ripper!

Two Unique Styles Of The Air Jordan 1 Release Tomorrow
By SoleInsider
Jordan Brand continues its expansion into casual wear with two brand new styles of the Air Jordan 1 slated to release this Saturday, August 13th. The Jordan 1 Deconstructed aims at taking the simple design of Michael Jordan’s first signature silhouette and revamping it to near Chuck Taylor-like proportions. Not only are the numerous leather panels ditched, but an AJKO-like aesthetic graces the one-piece canvas upper while stitching makes up the Swoosh branding and pays homage to the original contours. Both a black and off-white Sail colorway are available for $123 USD.
The Air Jordan 1 High Ultra takes a different route, adding a high-top inner sock liner for a lockdown fit to add a touch of futurism to the classic 1985 icon. Not only does the upper ditch the traditional leather for a ventilated mesh, but new rope laces match the overhauled look. A simple White/Metallic Gold Coin and Black/Ghost Green will be available for $150 USD. Which pair do you prefer? Be sure to check out more detailed photos after the break and know that shops like Packer Shoes will be stocking each colorway this Saturday.
If you’ve been waiting since 1999, the Air Jordan 14 Indiglo will finally be making a return this weekend.
Essentially a remastered iteration of its OG counterpart, black leather and durabuck comprises its overall makeup, while the defining tone is utilized for its signature shield logo along the collar, portion of the heel tab and branding of its tongue, in addition to the miniature Jumpman located on its toe box.
Nicely offset against a crisp white outsole unit, the sneaker retails for $190, with GS sizes also listed at $140. Purchase a pair at select JB and Nike stockists starting tomorrow, Saturday, August 13th.

Sneakers In 4K Retro: An Appreciation For The Air Jordan 6 Slam Dunk (Video)
By SoleInsider
Who knew that Slam Dunk was so clairvoyant? It seemed harmless at the time, but this clip perfectly illustrates the current state of sneaker culture 20 years prior. Or at least the culture that the internet likes to perpetuate…
When talked about in the context of greatest manga series of all-time, Slam Dunk is among the elite tier, praised for its cultural impact in Japan (the series is credited with helping popularize the game of basketball in Japan during the 1990s). While Slam Dunk might not have had the crossover success in the U.S. on the level of a Dragon Ball or Naruto, it retains a loyal fan base that includes more than a fair share of sneakerheads. How could you not love a series that uses basketball as the crux of a multi-layered story of love, friendship and drama? Oh, and the main character Hanamichi Sakuragi wears Air Jordan 6s and 1s through most of his uh, career.
Apparently, somebody at Jordan Brand was a fan of Slam Dunk because in 2014 they released an eponymous Air Jordan 6 in limited quantities. The red upper features reflective detailing that show off a collage of characters and scenes from the manga while Sakuragi’s jersey number can be found embroidered in the ankle area where you might have seen #23 in the past. We harp about how sometimes new releases come with loosely related stories that don’t really having anything to do with the shoe, but credit goes to Jordan Brand for actually making “storytelling” mean something in this case.
Holy hell, the copyright violations…
The Air Jordan 6 “Slam Dunk” comes from a pure place. Sure, it always surprised me that Nike never took legal action and shut down series creator Takehiko Inoue for using their kicks (and other brands for that matter), but it ended being a fun footnote in the history of one of the most beloved and historically significant sneakers ever made. Those are the type of stories that Jordan Brand should be chasing; genuine moments that actually touched people and furthered their love of the brand even when they had no idea what a “brand” was. Take the Dunk From Above Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 5 Low that still sits on stores to this day. Their inspiration is taken from Michael Jordan’s ability to take flight or something. Great, we know MJ can “fly” but what about those shoes say MJ can fly. On the other side of the storytelling spectrum are releases like the underrated Air Jordan 7 Sweater or the Air Jordan XX3 that are deep cuts in Jordan’s personal history. Obscure to be sure, but definitely real connection.
Ok, so the upper is based on his hair, the shorts are the midsole and the outsole is from the shirt. Yeah, way to overthink this…
The Air Jordan 14 Indiglo will be making its arrival this weekend, as the OG colorway was first introduced back in 1999.
With this pair essentially a remastered take, black leather and durabuck comprises its build, as the defining tone is prominent on its signature shield logo along the collar, portion of the heel tab and branding of its tongue, alongside the miniature Jumpman on the toe box.
All adhered atop a clean white outsole unit, the retail price is listed at $190, while GS sizes will be offered and priced at $140. Look for it at JB and Nike stockists starting Saturday, August 13th.

The Air Jordan 11 Low Closing Ceremony Drops This Month
By SoleInsider
Another closer look at this luxe iteration of the Air Jordan 11 Low is featured, as this particular pair commemorates the ongoing 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Set to celebrate the closing ceremony of the international sporting event, which will be held in the iconic Maracanã Stadium that is scheduled for Sunday, August 21st — the low-top is essentially covered with the defining theme which encompasses the upper, while premium white leather is utilized for the reminder of its composition. Contrasting accents of black grace the inner lining and tongue, as it?s rounded out with a crisp white midsole unit and icy translucent outsole.
Priced at $170, you can find this pair at select Nike and JB retailers starting Saturday, August 27th.
I?m not that really into the silhouette in a low-cut profile aside from the recent varsity red and navy/gum colorways, but, I like this style even more in this finish. I also like how leather is applied on the upper.
