KoF Live: Air Jordan 1 High Golf Chicago Unboxing (Video)

Since the beginning of time, golf shoes and basketball shoes have sat at opposite ends of the spectrum. While a golfer demands a stable base that prevents their feet from slipping and ruining their swing, the cut has often been low to allow their ankle to move freely. On the other hand, traditionalists prefer their basketball shoes to run high with plenty of padding to protect their ankles from getting broken from a sick crossover. But Nike – and by extension, Nike Golf and Jordan Brand – have never been one for norms. The Swoosh broke the mold with the Air Jordan 1 and every Air Jordan since of what the expectations of a basketball shoe could be. With Tiger Woods, Nike created a new lane for themselves with Nike Golf and changed the uniform of a golfer from cartoon caricature to one that was sleek and modern. So isn’t it about time these two icons came together? Enter the Air Jordan 1 High Golf.

Nike Golf is no stranger to shifting expectations. Last year they brought Flyknit to the sport with the Flyknit Chukka and it gave people the feel of a lightweight high-top sneaker while still maintaining the same performance benefits and protection that one would expect from a standard golf shoe. The Air Jordan 1 High is a far cry from Flyknit. It features the same Free-inspired sole as the Nike TW’13 and waterproof leather upper of the Air Jordan 6 and Air Jordan 9. The difference between the 6 and 9 from the 1 is that while the latter went low, the 1 is cut like 1985 original. Nike Golf has gone high before with the Blazer and the Lunar Bandon, but the Air Jordan 1 is a different beast altogether. For starters, it has grabbed the attention of the sneaker community unlike any other golf shoe maybe ever.

Check out our quick look at the Nike Golf Air Jordan 1 in video above, which was broacast on Facebook Live. The shoes, along with a white and silver colorway, will be available on February 10 and once the sun starts to rise in Southern California again, we’ll be back with a more detailed analysis of the shoe once we put it through the paces.

What If: Check Out The Air Jordan 3 Take Flight Custom By Astrotorf Customs

The recently released Air Jordan 8 Take Flight was greeted with mixed reviews. Many people appeared to love the colorway but weren’t sold on placing it on the Air Jordan 8. Which led us to think what this Olive/Orange color scheme would look like an a more coveted model such as the Air Jordan 3. Enter sneaker customizer Astrotorf Customs and his very own rendition of the Air Jordan 3 Take Flight.

Using the Cyber Monday 3s as the base shoe, Astrotorf Customs reworks the upper to mimic the look of the Air Jordan 8 Take Flight. This includes painting the majority of the base in a matte Olive colorway, while utilizing Orange hits on the Jumpman branding on the tongue and heel. Other subtle features on the shoe that help make it pop are the Orange speckling on the rear portion of the Black midsole and the matte/glossy striped pattern on the heel region you’re used to seeing on Jordan 8s. The Air Jordan 11 Low University Blue Releases This Summer

It seems like Jordan Brand gets more experimental with their annual summer installments of the Air Jordan 11 Low every year. The Jumpman will be turning back the clock to 2001 this year though for a fresh dose of some collegiate pride with the North Carolina-inspired Air Jordan 11 Low “University Blue” slated to heat up the summer months of 2017.

We already saw an official preview of grade school sizes (for more on that click here) and today we get a first look at what the adult size run will look like. The Air Jordan 11 Low UNC will return to store shelves nearly 16 years after debuting back in 2001 with the original Columbia Blue shade changing its name here to University Blue. The translucent outsole unit also adds a splash of that updated icy tint to prevent pre-age yellowing for good measure. Are you excited about the return of the Air Jordan 11 Low UNC?

There’s still no word yet on an official release date, but stay tuned for more updates regarding this UNC-themed Jordan retro right here on Sneaker News.

The Jordan B.Fly Is Releasing In All-Star Colors

Jordan Brand’s latest performance basketball shoe, the Jordan B. Fly, is a bit of a structural oddity, but that’s part of the reason why we love it. While the Jumpman’s main category is undoubtedly their retro catalogue, they’re still pushing out some truly interesting performance options that hit a sweet spot in the aesthetic and price departments. We gave the Jordan B. Fly a recent wear-test with the help of Charlotte Hornets’ defensive specialist Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (you can read that full piece here) and know first-hand just how lightweight the model is. Today we get a look at the Jordan B. Fly All-Star, as the latest colorway features the iridescent finish on the Air Jordan 14-inspired heel panel with Black and Concord woven jacquard tooling throughout.

The Jordan B. Fly All-Star dons the same asymmetrical lacing system, while the Nike Zoom Air unit is hidden beneath a black midsole and icy outsole. The rubberized outsole also features a unique raised traction pattern for an interesting ride that grips any surface. Check out more detailed shots below and know that you can grab your pair today from Nike.com for $110.

The Jordan BHM Collection Releases This Saturday

Jordan Brand’s Black History Month Collection drops this Saturday, February 11th but definitely marks a change of pace for the brand. Unlike past installments, the Jordan Brand Black History Month 2017 Collection features just three models and skips out entirely on the Jumpman’s latest performance options.

The Air Jordan 1 BHM features removable velcro patches for the men’s pair with a simple yet premium black tumbled leather, while the grade school Air Jordan 1 instead opts for an incredibly flashy Metallic Gold patent leather throughout. Then there’s the surprise appearance of a retro training model from the early 2000s in the Jordan Trunner LX featuring an Air Jordan 15-esque woven midfoot construction, dual straps, and a low profile tooling that should be perfect for lifestyle and workout use. All of the offerings take a Black/Metallic Gold colorway to task, but manage to do so in a different yet premium way.

Which celebratory pair will you be grabbing? Check out more detailed shots of the Air Jordan 1 BHM, the Jordan Trunner LX BHM and more below and know that you can grab each pair a bit early by heading over to our Air Jordan Release Dates page.

The Jordan Trunner LX Is Releasing In Bright Volt

Jordan Brand definitely turned some heads with the curious addition of the oft-forgotten training model known as the Jordan Trunner LX to their annual Black History Month Collection. The early 2000s offering definitely owes some of its DNA to the Air Jordan 15, as you can see the woven midfoot section is nearly identical, but that’s where the comparisons end, especially with this brand new “Volt” colorway slated to release at retailers on February 11th.

The Jordan Trunner LX proves that there are still plenty of hidden Jumpman gems waiting for a proper retro treatment, and with the brand always looking to expand its training category, this lifestyle offering should do just fine in the coming months. The monochromatic Volt aesthetic will be a grade school girls release only, with additional Metallic Silver hints on the branding throughout. What do you think of this dual-strapped Trunner LX model?

International retailers like Overkill have the pair on-site right now, but you’ll have to wait until February 11th to grab your size. Stay tune for more Air Jordan Release Dates right here on Sneaker News.
