The Air Jordan 13 Bred Gets Deconstructed By The Shoe Surgeon Using A Python Upper

Known for his custom sneaker work that usually involves using premium, exotic, and unexpected materials, The Shoe Surgeon (Dominic Chambrone) linked up with Jordan Brand yesterday to work on a special project involving the upcoming Air Jordan 13 Bred.

The Shoe Surgeon took 12 friends of Jordan at the brand?s South State St location in Chicago through a class to rebuild the Air Jordan 13 Bred and transform it into a python custom, something that The Shoe Surgeon is known to do quite often. Jordan Brand also caught up with Chambrone and asked him a few questions regarding his approach to the Air Jordan 13, explaining what makes it one-of-a-kind from a purely construction viewpoint. Read the full interview below.

What materials did you supply your class yesterday?

We used a black Italian suede python, perforated suede, Japanese fabric which is one of the highest end lining materials and some tools.

Was this the first AJ13 you rebuilt?

My first AJ 13 was a low. But this is the first high top, in the bred colorway.

You work with so many different types of shoes ? high end, low end, different brands. What makes the AJ 13 unique?

Everything from the design, to the padding, to the binding and how the eyelets are laced. One of my favorite parts of the 13 is the hologram. I feel like this is one of the first soles that had a suede cover. I think that was very unique for the time as well.

When you have shoes that are almost architecturally built, inspired by anything from a lawnmower to a cat?s paw, do you see that in the construction compared to other shoes?

I definitely do. From the first Jordan I ever did. It?s always just been about how many pieces and how it?s layered. Like you said, it?s more of an architectural way to approach a sneaker.

What was challenging about the 13?

This was probably one of the most difficult shoes I?ve done just because of all the detail already on the shoe ? from the suede sole that could so easily be messed up, to the hologram, to the reflective fabric and the eyelets.

There are shortcuts I can take on other shoes to make things slightly different, or change a detail that no one would normally see, but for the AJ 13 the goal was to create it as closely as possible to the original.

Most Jordans are very complex, due to the design. I don?t think they take any shortcuts to make production easier. The focus was definitely on the design and how the shoe looks and functions rather than how inexpensive the production could be.

Check Out Richard Hamiltons Air Jordan 11 Detroit Pistons PE

Richard Hamilton‘s time with the Detroit Pistons will forever be admired and appreciated. Those Pistons teams from the mid-2000s will always be ones to remember. They manages to get a ‘ship without having one true superstar. They did it as a whole, as a team, they way it should be. Much respect, and this is coming from a Pacers fan (you know how that rivalry goes).

Hamilton was not only a Piston, but he was also a part of Jordan Brand. As a part of team Jordan, RIP would receive his fair share of PEs, today we take a look at the one you see above, the Air Jordan 11 Detroit Pistons PE. Rocking a Blue mesh upper with a matching tumbled leather heel the shoe is contrasted by White patent leather mudguard and midsole. Even more White can be seen on both the laces and lining. Giving it that Pistons theme is the use of Red hits on the Jumpman. The icy translucent outsole completes the main features on the shoe. These probably won’t be releasing, but it’s pretty cool to just see them, right? Thoughts?

Frank Cooker Lets His Air Jordan 1 High Black Lives Matter Sneakers Do All The Talking

There’s a saying that goes, “let the shoes do the talking”. That’s exactly what Jordan Brand’s Frank Cooker decided to do when he took to his IG to show off his Air Jordan 1 High Black Lives Matter sneakers.

Currently, things in the U.S. are not as ideal as we all wish they could be. What we all must understand is that we must stand up for what we believe and know is right. No one race, gender and class is better another. We’re all equal and that was the message Frank Cooker was trying to convey with his all-Black Jordan rocking the #BlackLivesMatter print on the ankle straps. He also went ahead and captioned his image with, ?and so does standing up for peace , harmony , equality and justice for ALL!?

I agree 100% with you Frank. Respect.
