Nike Just Introduced The New Nike Epic React Flyknit

Nike just introduced their brand new Nike Epic React Flyknit. Not only is it a new model, it’s also the first Nike running sneaker to utilize Nike’s React technology.

The Nike Epic React Flyknit features Nike?s latest foam technology designed to cushion the impact of each stride and offer the energy return needed to stay fresh late in a run. The design of the shoe consists of a forefoot, toe and arch with the help of the one-piece Nike Flyknit bootie that is precision-engineered for support, flexibility and breathability in areas where we need it most. It is minimal and close to the foot but still supportive.

Nike React foam is significantly softer than EVA-based foams used in past models. So whenever you hit a bump on the road, it manages to smooth it out more effectively. In addition, the midsole had to be taller in order to avoid ?bottoming-out? and wider to give runners a supportive base. To solve for that, designers extended the midsole beyond the perimeter of its upper around the heel to provide both the cushioning runners want and the stability they need.

Computational design, which enables rapid data-driven ideation, was used to create the midsole, which is one piece of Nike React foam (with no carrier, cement or glue). This method allowed for engineering the surface of the midsole to deliver cushioning and support in the specific spots needed during a run, while eliminating material wherever it?s not absolutely necessary in order to keep weight to a minimum. The visually complex pattern varies in depth, where deeper parts indicate areas of more cushioning and shallower portions produce more firmness.

Because the upper sits on one piece of foam, the outsole is essentially the same as the midsole, but with a segment of rubber under the forefoot and heel for added traction and to help enhance the shoe?s durability.

The Nike Epic React Flyknit to release on February 22nd at select retailers and Nike.com.

The John Elliot x Nike Air Force 1 Low Will Be Releasing Later This Year

It looks like the Nike Air Force 1 collaborations will continue in 2018 after having a monumental year in 2017. One of those pairs that will be releasing is this collaboration with fashion designer John Elliot which he showcased at ComplexCon 2017.

The John Elliot x Nike Air Force 1 Low features an all-white leather upper with pebbled leather detailing on the die-cut Swoosh. Elliot explained that since this shoe had to be all-white he added and reduced layers to create shadows and give it a unique look. Each overlays is doubled up to add dimension.

FINALLY?Beyond excited to share these!!! About a year ago, we had the opportunity to work on the 35th anniversary project for what is in my opinion the most iconic shoe ever, the @nike Air Force 1. There was one stipulation: it had to be all white. When tasked with working on such a culturally significant silhouette under the restriction of keeping it in an all white palette, I wanted to make sure that we included our DNA in the silhouette and tried to craft details that could potentially create color. To me the only way to do that was by adding and reducing layers to create shadows. Since this shoe is so rare lets run through some of what makes it special: Each overlay is doubled up to add dimension. We die-cut the swoosh out of the foxing and quarter and put pebbled leather underneath to create the appearance of it going inward and to create shadows. We took this layering theme and applied it to the smallest details – everything from a layered deubré, double lace keepers, layered aglets, and a double (layered) tongue. We then reduced small details like eyelets and vents down to a bead size. The finished product is something that I am excited to own and share with friends and family members this weekend at ComplexCon.

The John Elliot x Nike Air Force 1 Low is currently expected to release some time in the Fall of 2018. Make sure you keep it locked to Kicks On Fire for updates.
