Who had a pair of Emmit Smith’s Reebok ES22 signature sneaker back in the day? This classic Reebok model made its debut back in 1997 and last released in 2012. In other words it has been over a decade since we last got a retro release of the Hall of Fame’s running back signature shoe. That’s all about to chance as Reebok took to Instagram to confirm the return of Smith’s E22 sneaker. The announcement consisted of a vintage-style ad showcasing Smith and his sneaker, which can be seen below. When Emmitt Smith’s Reebok ES22 made its debut back in 1997, Smith wore the cleated version during the NFL season. This Club Blue colorway features a glossy upper highlighted by the holographic hit on the tongue and Smith’s No. 22 on the heels. One thing worth mentioning is that unlike the 1997 version’s see-through sole and the 2012 version’s Gum bottoms, the upcoming 2023 version is given a Black outsole. Design details on the model include a mid-cut build constructed out of a leather upper and equipped with VizHex and Hexalite cushioning in the midsole. Other details include a molded EVA cradle on the sides and a turf-inspired outsole.
